Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei has been translated. This is the SNES remake of Megami Tensei 1 and 2 that use the engine from SMT. Features upgraded graphics and audio.
Don't use zsnes, or old versions of snes9x.
Choose any of the above. They should all work.
Use up to date Snes9x or bsnes (higan).
This better not be a joke, OP. My dick can only be this erect.
No joke, friend. Go kill some demons.
Cerberus puts in some serious work for a level 10 demon.
Thank you Pascal I will luv u 5ever
Went speed, strength and vitality with the dude, Intellect and speed with the girl.
Oh look, a snake.
I wonder if the original NES game was like that.
That snake demon has a lot of HP and I'm doing just 1 dm per hit. Let's try a weapon.
It will take a while to get used to the clunky interface / menus. This isn't Etrian Odyssey.
Got my first demon.
Again, thanks for the info, OP. I've seen a couple of glitchs; I will take note of them
Don't expect the battles to get any easier. This game seems to be much harder than SMT I and II so far. Have fun with random encounter enemies draining levels when you get to Mazurka, the Sea of Flames, and Infini.
Of course. Even with the SNES coat of paint, it still is a game from the NES era, when the games ranged from merciless to unfair.
Fucking Ninja Gaiden 2.
I've only played the PS2 personas, SMT3 and Strange Journey. I'm sure this is going to be rough.
There aren't any sweep spells that I've found so far, and I'm at Infini. Bufulama can freeze, but it only hits 2 demons out of many, and of course the lack of guns and nerve bullets.
On the bright side though, since he's already beaten SJ I'm sure these dungeons will be really easy for him to get through.
I really miss the minimap
First google result for me (to be fair it's a spic site). How do you post a link? 4chan thinks it's spam?
I'm liking the town theme and the battle theme. The dungeon theme not so much, but I wouldn't call it bad.
Awwww yeah i just beat SMT 4 glad to see i can play 1 and 2 now
>Awwww yeah i just beat SMT 4 glad to see i can play 1 and 2 now
These are the Megami Tensei games. The series goes:
>Megami Tensei 1-2
>Shin Megami Tensei 1 onwards
>tons of side stuff like ...if etc,
Last screenshot for today.
Seems like if... is the only untranslated SNES megami tensei game left.
>Looking at screens of the second game
>NAKAJIMA AND YUMIKO
Fuckin yeah, it's about damn time I can actually play as the damned book protagonists. Do I get to bang yumiko as nakajima?
No, no no.
Due to the similar names, people get a bit confused on things.
Megami Tensei 1 and 2 were Famicom (nes) games. They were ported to the SFC (SNES) in the collection called "Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei". This is what has been translated.
Shin Megami Tensei are separate games.
I don't know about the bug you're referring to, but perhaps it has been fixed?
Started reading the first two books (since the 3rd hasn't been translated). Only just started but they are nice. Heard MT1 takes place after the second book so I'm going to finish the books before starting the game.
Any advice people can give regarding stat improvement? SMT tends to love fucking you over if you don't know how to put your stats in the right spots.
So what was the reason that the guy was never able to completely translate the Famicom version of Megami Tensei? I heard that he got most of the way through, but then he had to stop for some reason (I think it was space limitations?).
I have this problem where if I get into a game series, I like to play every entry in them. It helps this series has generally good gameplay to boot.
Went through all of Silent Hill a couple years back. That became a bit of a chore with the later entries.
As excited as I am for this, I don't have the time to beta test and I don't feel like mooching off of an unfinished patch. I'm going to wait awhile before some of the kinks get ironed out.
I actually didn't have a ratio, in my run I basically rushed vit to 25 on Nakajimi, put some points into str, maxed vit, and then worked on maxing str
On Yumiko I actually leveled int more than vit, but at around 25 int I decided to max vit first because getting hit still hurt quite a bit
Yeah, every single MT I've played I've used a Cu Chulainn from the moment I get him until the end of the game. The guy has saved my ass on numerous occasions in different games, with random crits/dodges/getting the clutch final hit with other people dead or no mp, etc. Cu Chulainn is great.
>random encounter enemies draining levels
What is this, a fucking roguelike?
I honestly regret not having the FC version of MT2 translated for its baller soundchip, but I heard the SNES version had its other perks.
Aeon Genesis is a good guy, but he's just one dude and he has no obligation to work at a fast pace. He does his stuff at his own pace. He's a great guy for making so many translations as it is. But don't rely on him to make shit fast. If you really need stuff done RIGHT NOW then start your own project.
>he does it for free
I care more about the picture.
It described some events like the apocalypse and the end of the world, then like 2000 years after that at the very end of the timeline was "Majin Tensei 2 translation released by aeon genesis".
Fuck, I wish I could remember what I saved it as, or if I even saved it in the first place.
Looks like Ghideon Zhi just started back working on If..., at least he posted a new screenshot of the WIP.
He announced earlier this year he was going to start on Kyuuyaku, but seeing as the original translator came back and the game's out in bug testing, I guess he just decided to go back to If... now.
>Don't use zsnes
That's the only goddamn SNES emulator I fucking use and you're telling me the faggots who made this translation can't do a good enough job that it runs on anything?
Oh shit, you're right. My bad man.
No clue why he queues so many projects up at once.
Been waiting for these fo so long, and it doesn't look like he ever even updates the page.
Zsnes doesn't have high compatibility and it can't play the game properly. It's not about the author not making the patch "right". It's the emulator's fault.
There was people in the thread reporting issues, and it turned out it was just because they were using zsnes.
yes. RA is just a frontend for up to date bsnes and snes9x, which play those games. Higan is just modern bsnes.
It doesn't matter which one of those you choose. They all work. The only ones that have issues with the game are zsnes, and very old builds of snes9x.
The game has compatibility issues with the emulator. It's not a fault of the patch or the game, but a fault of ZSNES because it's old, deprecated, and has compatibility issues. Use SNES9x or bsnes/higan. If you love zsnes's UI so much, somebody made a version of snes9x that uses the zsnes UI.
