Let's all pretend HL3 was just announced.
Post yfw and such.
>me on the left being an anime grill that's pretending to give a shit to anyone who brings it up to me as if I should care about a mediocre outdated FPS getting a new game
DAT SILKY SMOOTH 30 FP2S HOLY SHIT
>mfw DreamCast 2 exclusive
>team-based multiplayer FPS
>Rebels vs Combine
>no Freeman in sight
The only reason people care about this shit anymore is because of the cultural meme it's become. HL2 was a farcry from HL, and I don't imagine many improvements will be made. Time doesn't always equal quality, maybe the devs have just been dicking around. Wouldn't be the first time.
Why does a cat need a bunch of stupid extra eyes?
Seriously what do they do besides make the cate look completely stupid?
How fucking shit are you that 2 eyes isn't already enough and it's not like it gets eyes in spots that make sense to have extra eyes.
It can just keep looking forward more.
This cat is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.
This is why anime is shit, weebs got to grow up or get some good taste stupid ass fucking cat
It will be a let down if you've overhyped it for yourself or you let the hype of others get to you. Im pretty sure im going to enjoy it, since I dont expect it to be anything else than a Half Life game.
>Gaben streams an announcement
>"Valve has been facing some rough financial times. Unfortunately we have been forced to sell off a popular franchise to make ends meet and avoid selling the entire company."
>A lone tear starts to slowly roll down Gaben's face
>"I'm h-h-happy to announce that EA has p-purchased the rights to the Half Life franchise."
>Feed cuts to EA's CEO
>"Hey gamers, we know you have been waiting a long time to play Half Life 3 and we're excited to make it for you! Mark your calendars because it's launching on Black Friday! And if you've never played a Half Life game before, we have something in store for you - we're designing Half Life 3 to appeal to the Call of Duty audience! I don't wanna give away too many spoilers now but Half Life 3 will have a season pass, lots of fun-enhancing DLC and a whole new sexuality for Gordon Freeman! We'll release more information in the coming weeks, so be sure to check Origin often!"
>orange box 2
>half life 3 team fortress 3 portal 3 and peggle 3
Why would you even put this in my head...
>mfw your announcement comes true
>mfw this is essentially the fate of all good franchises
have you noticed that railgun cameo too?
Holy shit, I totally didn't see it coming in the trailer when Gordon went through the portal and crossed into the Team Fortress 2 universe! It was so cool when Gordon caught Soldier's rocket with his Gravity Gun and shot it back at him! Then at the very end you see what looks like "Aperture Science" on a building implying that Gordon is going to cross into the Portal universe too!
Half Life 3 is going to be really wacky!
Who cares, another shitty generic fps with some uninteresting unique elements
current trend seems to be valve´d rather buy EA then the other way around...
>appeal to the Call of Duty audience
THAT, an EA spokesperson would never say under pain of death.
it is an enemy product, and battlefield declined just as nicely to make "battlefield audience" cringeworthy enough.
The only non-jew developer that actually makes AAA games.
Yeah, I think it would be fair to say that I would be moderately interested in HL3 or anything valve.
inb4 valve is jew
look at sony
look at MS
look at EA
look at biofags, irrational games, bethesda
look at fucking everything else
Valve only care about me having a good time, or at least they've fooled me into believing so.
Just a result of most /v/ posters being jaded and cynical because they've been burned one too many times in the past. You have to be that way to protect yourself from getting hyped and then having your heart broken when the game you were hyped for is an utter piece of shit.
Spore is the game that did it for me. That was the day I became a major cynic about vidya and declared a fatwa against EA.
instead of being another shitty (insert genre here)
I guess developers should just make the games you want to play.
Yep, and I used mine, that is why I don't rush in head first to buy a game from Steam. I learned my lesson.
Wow they actually did it.
Too bad I'm far past caring.
Yay. Finally. Woohoo. Get hyped..?
At least i don't have to hear about it again.
>people need to simulate getting a good game from their favourite developer
Where is this industry going...
It is in a very dark place right now, and it is getting worse.
Their approach to HL2 was groundbreaking and innovative. This is of course completely lost on today's cutting edge faglord gamers.
The fact that they make non-jewlord games is largely due to the fact that they are in the comfortable position of being the overlords of PC digital distribution. Which they became due to not being total jews. Almost like they have grander intentions than simply making money, and in not being total jews they've been even more successful.
They are the groundbreakers and EA are just the faggots that copypaste their inventions.
They simply don't have to jew out DLCs because they're clever guys that try to jew in a non-jew way.
>their games are shit except some of their games aren't shit.
Maybe if more people felt more strongly about this they would do something about it.
I hold myself responsible for buying shit games because like you, I rarely buy bad games and if I do it is always because I had no fucking clue what I was doing.
Man, I hardly care anymore. They should've at least announced it after Portal 2 was released. That would have been long enough. What the fuck have they been doing?
As for the game, I hope it's not a straight-up copy of HL2 and episodes. Those games are good, but sweet Jesus, they haven't aged very well.
You realise Steam wasn't the first to do digital distribution?
>HL2 was groundbreaking and innovative
Fantastic, but this was a decade ago.
Where are they now?
>they simply don't have to jew out DLC
>pay for mods scheme
Yawn. If anything you're trying to fitting by insinuating people can't have contrasting opinions.
Early Access looked good on paper when it started, but it should get canned considering how many incomplete games it created.
The innovations that HL2 is lost on these edge lords because many fps games use the mechanics HL2 used.
Also, how long can a computer with origin be disconnected from the internet? I had some steam games that I installed on a computer that was then disconnected from the internet for a year and they still ran fine, Steam didn't lock me out from those games.
Who was first is completely irrelevant. Who did it best is relevant.
>Pay modders for creating content for their games
Yeah, they're such jews, I can't believe they've made a framework for their mods that actually validates the best of mod community, what a bunch of jews.
What about it? Should developers not have the choice to sell and develop their games however they want?
You have the choice to buy whatever you want, you don't have to take part in early access, just like developers don't have to take part in it. Why ruin that for people that want to help shape a game, or help fix a game that they're enthusiastic about.
I bought into Nuclear Throne's early access, I actually find it enjoyable to play the game as it evolves, each update brings me back to it and has me experimenting with the latest patch changes and additions.
Now I understand why Gaben let himself go... He noticed that the only way to stay alive in today's cutthroat industry is to make the games that make the most money instead of your artists vision. The dream is dead, the only thing left is the cold hard cash.
Don't be surprised that one day Gaben commits sudoku
The way I see early access; you should only buy into it if you think you can get some moderate enjoyment out of the product at the state it is in.
Who is to say when a game is "complete" anyways? Shit, you could have probably labeled Skyrim at launch as "early access" yet nobody seems to mind that anymore but everyone is raving on about early access like it's a horrible thing.
If HL3 had original and innovative features(whatever it is they come up with), a 20+ hour campaign and none of the CoD audience pandering casualized bullshit, tell me, will it still have lived up to the 7+ year hype since episode 2? A fucking decade if you wanna count HL2.
>it's been 7 years
also, yes, it will.
You admonished EA for not being original.
Valve won't allow free distribution of mods but will take a cut to have it on their platform.
Essentially charging others to make DLC for them and charging you to buy it.
>should developers not have the choice
Naturally they should but the early access business model is the most Jewish conception.
this is the most depressing thread I've ever been in
Because of years of being blue balled. THey better put their psychologists to say that they should release HL3.
>Valve has been facing some rough financial times
>I know we make a gorillion dollars every single day from selling games on steam, cutting a percentage from all community market sales, selling valve games merchandise AND that we made 7 and a half million dollars from the dota 2 compendium sales, but shit happens.
>its all was just a dream
>in hl3 Freeman awoken from dream and now just lives his ordinary live in BlackMesa
>Resonanse Cascade not happening
If HL3 is anything other than 11/10 GOTYAY our God is a loving and benevolent God, it will be seen as a failure. It's been hyped for too long, anything other than the best game ever will be considered 3/10 it's shit.
It would make sense as a conclusion to the franchise though. Some messed up paradoxical time-travel, portal-gateways (please gaben-god keep portal-gun shit away from HL games) and Vortigaunt abilities that will help Gordon prevent the cascade or change the laws of physics in a subtle way to prevent it and ultimately becoming the gman...
I mean it's the Half Life universe, they don't need to keep it even remotely realistic.
>"you play as John Freeman who is Gordon Freeman's brother"
>That part where the Combine are doing some sort of Ginyu Force pose on top of a car and drive off a cliff
>Valve has been facing some rough financial times
Stopped reading there
