Probably the stupidest thing I thought on a regular basis was that the developers for some reason designed a huge world ten times larger than the main game that you could access by using some obscure method to get out of the game's boundaries.

I spent so many hours trying to find secrets like that.

as a chillun that played ssbm, I only had game and watch left to unlock. I played through adventure mode hundreds of times, and when I fought Luigi instead of Mario on stage 2, I though that GaW was "messing" with my game. I had no idea who he was and he looked weird so I basically saw him as the herobrine of melee (didnt know of herobrine at the time, obviously)

I had a crippling fear of LikeLikes that prevented me from beating both OoT and Majora's Mask. I remember reading that they would eat your shield, which sounded horrible enough, but then I actually encountered one. The way they gyrated and the fact that they were vomit-colored and were apparently trying to eat me whole was too much.

In Pokemon when you fight Missingno via the Missingno glitch, one of the moves he knows is Sky Attack. Yellow was my first Pokemon game and I remember freaking out when I got poisoned as well.
I didn't know what to do until my Pokemon fainted and I learned that I had to cure it when it gets poisoned.

Not alone on this one. I'd pretend to be the main character and try to save a girl I liked or something. I remember imagining I was Sonic in Sonic 3 & Knuckles and trying to save a girl from Robotnik. I also remember doing this in Starfox 64.

I did this with Star Wars Battlefront 2 on the map where you can be any hero or villain, I'd play as Anakin until I died and then play as Darth Vader

Also used to do it in Runescape, would randomly dress up in cool armour like the hidden quest ghostly robes and try to convince people they were the sons of the in-world gods and stuff

As a kid the only non-attack moves I ever used were Recover, Sand-Attack and Confuse Ray. I think a little bit into Pokemon Stadium I added Thunder Wave to that.

When I first played Deus Ex as a small kid (after watching my dad play it while sat on his lap) I only ever got to the first level, and fucked about on the docks for literally hours because I was too scared to go fight the bad guys.

Same applies with Half-Life, I didn't want to play the main game so I played the tutorial a good 20 times or so.

This thread made me realize something. When i was a kid i could spend an entire day just experimenting and doing stuff in a single leve. I remember how i chased that eggs-guy in Spyro for hours because i was too stupid to figure out how to do it. Or just cutting grass and trying to jump to different places.

And now i don't do this anymore. I know how vidya works, i don't experiment anymore. I immediately know where to go and what to do and don't waste time.
