I enjoyed SSE. As a "storytelling device" yeah it was pretty weird, I don't give much of a shit about Tabuu and all the weird enemies, but I really like the idea of a Smash game with a long single-player campaign, and I think it did that well. It would have been even better if it felt more, well, "Nintendo."

I think a longer version of Melee's lighthearted adventure mode, with Nintendo environments and enemies, would be my ideal version of an SSE-like campaign.

No idea why so many people want the melee adventure mode back. That shit was shallow as fuck. Sure it had more enemies that were in line with each character's game, but it was nothing special at all. SSE was pretty much an attempt at a kirby game with smash bros characters. Which would have worked if the map design was better and that maze never existed. And of course all the big bads were actual bosses from other games instead of all the original character designs.

to be honest i always found melee's adventure mode to be the weakest link of the singleplayer modes in that game. yeah, the platforming stages (the 3 or 4 of them the mode had, at least) were neat to playthrough, but what ultimately kills it for me is how it goes in the same order of progression each playthrough, and it takes like 30 minutes each time. melee's classic and all-star mode don't have that problem because they're mostly randomized and a bit shorter.
