Will I like Nocturne or Raidou if I didn't like the gameplay of Persona 3 much at all? I always loved the demon negotiation stuff people seem to mention about, managing a party, and buff-centric combat that people talk about, but I'm not even sure what games these correspond to. Matador's probably the hardest boss in the game IMO, in terms of how well-equipped you are to deal with him at the point you fight him. Protips:

- Fuse Nozuchi, or any other demon that nullifies Force
- Buy and equip Hifumi from the shop in the underpass
- Try and get a demon with Media, or for the love of god at least have something with Dia
- You should have a Dekaja Rock or two, sic 'em on him when his Agility is at maximum
- Use buffs, faggot (he can remove negative buffs on himself, but I don't think he can remove positive buffs on you)

He can still ravage you off Andalucia+crit, but if you do some or all of the above it should at least give you an edge.

DeSu was my first, I only just completed it a couple of days ago.

I can't imagine that this game feeling complete without the 8th day routes. That Belzaboul and Belberith fight on the Yuzu route were fucking great, not to mention the song they added for the final boss.

I fucking loved it. Delicious character interaction everywhere. Serph having a personality and being in his head as he tries and fails to resist cannibalism is a pretty different experience from the game, where he accepts the situation a little too easily.

The one complaint is that the Harley battle was a little awkward to me. It was the one point I felt like I was reading a video game book rather than a stand-alone novel.

What worked great for me was having Serph as magical damage and vital buffs like Voids, a physical nuker in the middle, and Argilla at the end for healing/support.
I've also seen other people say magic is best for Serph. Like in this very thread.

Yosuga is the Law route, basically. It's more Dark Law, but still Law nonetheless. It calls for everyone's complete submission to the rule of the strong, with no free will permitted for anyone, which is in contrast to Chaos where they want the strong to constantly challenge the strong to defend their right to live whatever kind of life they want. Rule by the strong is still rule, so the Angels supported it.

At that point, it's not intimidating because you most likely have pierce, focus and friekugel, so he is easy.
He does some pretty fucking scary shit though.

Not that guy but DDS is my favorite MegaTen game. It has good combat with Press Turn while also having strong story and character presence. Personally, the bare-bones narrative is what prevents Nocturne from being a favorite game for me, but I know that some SMT fans actually prefer it that way.

Also there's no demon fusion which is a deal-breaker to some, but having played 5 hours, you know that already.

Been playing since Persona Revelations on the PS1, with Nocturne as my first non-Persona game when that came out, but my favorite remains DDS 1+2.

And I'll always be thankful to whoever made the decision to put in "Danger" for the intro for DDS1. It introduced me to a band I still enjoy and listen to to this day, and it blows the original japanese intro song out of the water.
