I just found out that a large portion of the gaming population doesn't use SHIFT to crouch.
To those people,
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU
>mfw I use shift as crouch
>mfw I forgot to turn off sticky keys
Shift = Run
Crouch Hold = Ctrl
Crouch Toggle = C
Also if you still use Shift for uppercase letters instead of Caps Lock then you're a full pleb on the same level as people who google "youtube".
You gain a few extra keys lose a shitload of potential hotkeys because the alt modifier is too far under your hand for either your pinky or thumb to hit quickly without twisting your hand to the side
What the fuck is wrong with you people? HOW CAN YOU NOT USE SHIFT.
If your fucking fingers are on wasd and you are not a thalidomide child, your FUCKING PINKY WILL REST EXACTLY ON SHIFT. FOR CTRL YOU HAVE TO USE YOU FUCKING THUMB AND CONTORT YOUR HAND INTO SOME FIST SHAPE. USING SHIFT DEDICATES ALL OF YOUR LEFT HAND WHILE CTRL SKIPS YOUR PINKY.
THIS IS NOT OPTIMAL.
I learned to type before I learned to play PC vidya.
I play with my ring finger on W/S, pinky on A snd middle finger on D.
It's simply impossible to use CTRL for crouch like this. C is where it's at.
>Using Caps instead of Shift
>One extra fucking key press every time you want uppercase letters
What a fucking unproductive faggot you must be
>shift for sprint/walk
>ctrl to crouch
>space to jump
If you use anything else, or ever use a fucking toggle, you are a humongous fucking faggot.
>inb4 "muh pinky"
Using Caps is actually faster because you can keep your momentum while writing.
Having to hold down a button as opposed to just pressing it delays/slows down the speed at which you're typing slightly.
TFW I got to CAL:I back in 2006 at DOD:Source by using arrow keys. Ctrl for crouch, shift is jump, middle mouse button is sprint, numpad1 reload, numpad0 use. Arrow Key Masterace
>I don't know how fat you are
That doesn't have anything to do with his issue, I'm fat and ctrl is not an issue at all for my pinky
I think he had deformed hands, because think about it, how the fuck must he think using his thumb on ctrl is more viable than his pinky. Just try it yourself.
Then you must type slow like shit, show me.
Mine was on first attempt, I could probably redo it without any wrong words.
I use ctrl to crouch, shift to sprint yada yada yada
BUT GET THIS
My friend turned his teamspeak to push to talk
>nigga why you spreadin cancer
and the only key I could use optimally is caps lock. He told me "I use caps lock anyways its just easier." NIGGA WHAT! I really do fucking hate him.
Are people really this slow? I'm rusty as all fuck.
Here's my second try.
So what do you have to say about this, Shift user?
I don't know, if a person who typed faster than me told me that using caps lock is faster than shift, I would generally be inclined to agree with him.
Give me a test with uppercase letters and we can try that one if you want.
I think I use Shift-Hold to run, and capslock-hold to crouch.
>WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU
"..shift to crouch? Where we're going, we don't need shift to crouch."
No one said anything about "unproductive".
Momentum is related to speed of typing, because when you type fast holding down a button instead of just pressing it once slows you down a little.
>Not using arrows to move, CTRL to shoot, A to jump, Z to crouch, X to alt. fire and Page Up & Page Down to look up and down
The plebiest of plebs.
The point is very simple. A person who has 90 WPM tells you that shift is faster. Another person who has 120 WPM tells you that caps lock is faster.
Who do you think is right?
But fine, have it your way. Here's another test which is kinda bugged since I only made one mistake but it says that there are five, but try this one.
Although personally I dislike it because it's always the same text.
No you stupid fucks, WASD is typing moved over one. It's the exact same thing save for the middle finger since it's easier to move it up a row then return to the home row than it would be to rest on the home row then move down a row to back.
Having a pinky finger so weak it can't press two adjacent buttons at the same time
YOU BETTER START MAKING SENSE SOON YOU FAGGOT
>Can't understand basic English, lacks any reading comprehension
>Can't use a QWERTY keyboard either
It's all making sense now.
When typing your fucking left hand rests on ASDF+spacebar. If you move that whole fucking thing over one key then you end up with the same natural position but resting on CAPSLOCK+ASD+spacebar. W is then included in the four directional keys instead of X because it's easier to move your middle finger up a row than it is to move it down a row. That's why the letters in the bottom most row on a QWERTY keyboard are the least frequently used letters in the English language, they're a little more awkward to reach and don't get used as often, but this is beside the point. W is easier to reach. So no you have CAPSLOCK+WASD+Spacebar as the default position. Resting your pinky on SHIFT seems natural too, but then reaching down to Ctrl becomes far, far more awkward than it needs to be. Maybe this doesn't happen to handlets, by my fucking pinky starts curling into my palm by the time it gets to Ctrl and rather than a pressing motion I end up using the opposite motion, as though I were trying to extend my pinky. Regardless of the individual experiences the Ctrl key is still far out of the way. Moving the pinky default from Shift to CAPSLOCK means that now Shift takes up the responsibility of Ctrl, and CAPS takes up the responsibilities of shift, and you still have Tab to take up whatever cap may have been if anything. I don't know how ot explain this in any fucking simpler terms.
>Needing "fast reaction times" with crouch
>Not crouching most of the time
I bet you play cod, retard. Most good fps games that are slow paced and fun like Swat 4 you want crouch on toggle.
this is completely unrelated, but do you type using all your fingers? i average at around 95wpm but only use my index and middle fingers to type. always wondered if this is a shitty habit thats worth re-learning how to type, or if there are other people who type the same and are successful.
Shift-user here. I am content with my performance.
If you're playing an actually good FPS, Q is for leaning.
>My face when playing an FPS in which QE are not leaning
>Get cut down and turn into a porno magazine
>wahhh I don't like team work check out my epic k/d ratio im mlg pro where are my cod glasses i lost them and they are my edge
The pinky and ring finger are semi linked, attempting to curl the pinky will, in normal human beings, cause the ring finger to curl as well. Ctrl is so fucking far out of the way that you can't help but induce that.
They're literally one right on top of the other. I can roll my pinky from one to the other without moving any of the rest of my hand any significant amount at all, including my ring finger. You don't have to move your finger from the very top of the Shift key to the very bottom edge of the Ctrl key.
LCTRL = Crouch
Shift = Sprint
LALT = Jump
Space = Dodge
Guess my vidya.
