Why doesn't /v/ talk about Dating Sims? Have we become too normal for Dating Sims?
>play this many years ago
>unlock the dressup sections for every character
>didn't know what fancy bras were
>thought they were all sunglasses
i was a huge fucking retard for putting the bra over her face every time
This is Shinobu at age 19.
I have a Drunk Fetish, that game I used to play all the time because there is a woman in it who does nothing but drink.
I loved when I took her on dates and she drank so much she'd puke.
TFW no superbad alchoholic GF.
Which game was the one where it was in beta and you could romance like three chicks? I found it the weirdest one I've ever played back then because you could tickle some chick's asshole and she would fart.
I remember this shit, I only did the dating shit for a bit, buying truckloads of watermelon and shit, but then I just decided to train 24/7, fuck bitches, get stronk.
Oh shit. Here's the one that I spent forever playing... This one had great fuckin content and gave me my delicious brown girl fetish.
>start it up
looks kind of like a kiva mask now that i think of it
That was Sim Girl
>my 12 year old face when i thought that flash was a sequel to the first hentai girl sim date
They are in a bad place.
No story, no gameplay and no fap.
Everyone single dating sim is light years behind games like Sengoku Rance, Kamidori Alchemy Maister, Princess Waltz etc.
Dead genre is dead.
Let the Japs keep it and maybe revive in future.
Thanks. Yo shout out to anon my homie, my nigga.
Yeah I agree. It seems to be more of an early web 1.0 - 2.0 type of thing. Or maybe no one has tried to to make a decent one.
That feels so long ago.
Speaking of that, which two girls were /v/'s favorite?
In both the anime and the manga she's like that.
The anime is alright - it runs the 25 episodes, then the Spring and Winter OVAs, then the Love Hina Again OVA.
The manga won multiple best-of-the-year awards, including in America. It's a great read - it was the second work of Ken Akamatsu, the guy who later made the behemoth Negima.
>Go straight after her as a kid due to having the best body
>Fast forward many years, I now have a /ss/ fetish
My destiny was written before I even knew it.
Well shit. You might have been retarded, but not completely retarded.
Can you recommend some good dating sims? I always find them very entertaining. None with tons of sex though. The dating is what I play for, not the porn at the end.
Years later and still my waifu is so good.
she looks like lucy from servant x service
No torrent nigga. Seems like it's not popular enough to have a pirate to buy it and rip it.
Best bet is that AD3 is probably not a thing. I think AD2 was like a 09 thing and it didn't do so hot.
Holy shit that really hits home. I remember being in middle school and reading LH volumes my friend lent me by kind of hiding them in my desk. Half reading the manga, half sweating bullets that the teacher didn't see me and confiscate the book. Good times.
It kind of sucks knowing I can never do it again. But I like to think that somewhere in the world right now there is some kid experiencing that for the first time and that's something I guess.
Nevermind what I said. I'm fucking stupid. I haven't checked up on that shit for a few years.
They have a blogspot that the system thinks it's spam so just google search Aching dreams 3 and it'll be the first link. They updated today.
That being said. I don't like how the artist hasn't changed the style. It looks too undone or something.
Because good online dating sims aren't coming out anymore. No one is making them and if they are they're of poor quality. Show me examples of good ones from the last 5 years if you think otherwise.
I can't because I don't keep up with them. Though I don't doubt what you say either. Most VNs that have routes don't have any elements where you can upgrade your character so they're not like dating sims really. Besides Love Plus+, I can't think of any.
They're as dead as Space Sims.
I forgot about dating sims since japan never has any ero date sims and the only ones who do are murrikans.
Seriously, I mean legit eroge date sims. Not a choice VN. I mean flat out "Go to the fucking store, talk to that bitch, raise your str/int/charm, go to class, go to the bar, then go home because ran out of points for the day" shit.
>that feel when Kitsune wasn't the main romance in love Hina
I fucking hated the main bitch, the writer should of done a twist and hooked her up with Kentaro. Shit woulda been 10/10 then.
>Hooking up with a drunk
I tell you, they might be fun but that's about it.
From my personal experiencemost drunk girls are crazy and have issues, plus they do random weird stuff and you don't want that
I've preached its good word before, anon: Try Sakura Wars. Every character in that is fun in their own right, and the setting is pretty unique considering it's a Japanese game.
Another one I'd recommend is the Galaxy Angel series. I just beat the 2nd one and they're pretty fun and cute.
Pic related is best Sakura Wars girl.
I just got done playing True Love and it was fun outside of the horrible sex scenes that I wish I could skip.
>Max all stats and become perfect
>No one rejects me
>I can fuck anything
>Game becomes boring
>I got to fuck everyone but the teacher and loli
Being perfect is boring. I should have stuck to being a nerd.
>find out years later that the lead singer is a girl
I feel like a retard. Just thought it was a somewhat whiny sounding guy. The song still makes me nostalgic, either way.
Did anyone play the Evangelion sim date that these guys put out before the Love Hina one? It was more a parody of simgirls than an actual game, but I still like it for some reason. It got me interested in Evangelion, for what that's worth.
Granted, she ended up in the hospital after blacking out once and that served as a wake-up call. Now she's just a moderate drinker. Fantastic lady, though. Really the best person you can talk to if you have a serious problem.
You might mean Kanako. Motoko was there from the start, Kanako didn't show up until volume 11.
She was Keitaro's adopted sister who was after his dick like absolute crazy.
Guys what if, what if this defined the kind of girls we like?
>Have dated a tsundere
>Have had some things with a drunk
>Had crush on a nice girly girl but she's too much of a good girl
I'm missing the foreign student and the muscly but hot sports chick
I played True Love and tried to remain as chaste as possible, ended up with the first character I had sex with, the 27 year old that becomes a nurse or some shit. It was kind of cute in a sense.
I don't think it was her. Wasn't there a anemic chick with big breasts in Love Hina that they met while on vacation or something? Because I think that's the character I'm talkin' about.
I just realized I haven't read Love Hina in like 7 years and I've developed an incest fetish since then
I have to re-read now, I'm going to have a whole new viewpoint on this thing.
I don't even know if I could use the PS2 emulator on my laptop. I must experiment once again. For the good of waifus.
Isn't there that Hunnie Pop game coming out fairly soon? I haven't been keeping tabs on it, but it seemed promising when it was first released, since it looks to be a puzzle/date sim hybrid.
with a Yuri mode. fuck yeah.
Oh you meant Mutsumi. Yeah she was pushing for a three-way with herself and Naru and Keitaro.
She was the original promise girl. But she gave Keitaro to Naru when they were little kids by losing a rock-paper-scissors game on purpose.
All of you who liked comfy dating-VN's need to play Galaxy angel
All Angels are love
I forget which season 4 was. But in all honesty, everything was funny.
Serious episode with Forte was still my favorite though.
>ruining a girl
>not simply reinforcing her sensual, womanly beauty
>Play as a futa who is into chronic-masturbation
>Have to balance between school, fapping, and getting girls. Not fapping will cause you to get a erection in front of your all female school. However not focusing on other stats will never get you a girl
>You begin learning techniques about how to stealth fap in odd locations with tons of people
>Can fuck and date multiple girls at the same time. Harem ending is some tough shit and takes lots of planning
My dream /h/ games will never be made.
And that's part of why I liked Forte, and, well, older woman relationships in vidya in general. They tend to have a more somber, less wacky romance. It's just them accepting things might go wrong, but trying their best to remain close no matter what comes their way. I like that.
First harem I watched and liked. Then RosarioVampire and liked that too.
Then watched like 5 more harems and hate the whole genre so fucking much now
>game can take a serious approach if you pick the right girl, where you lament your freakishness. She says she loves you exactly how you are
>her ending is you married with a child
I like hurt/comfort romance endings even in my h-games, anon.
Harem is undoubtedly the worst genre there is. I feel more angry towards harem than most anons feel about NTR.
>You can't rape any girl you like after hitting your fap limit and forcing her to keep from telling others
>You'll never be black mailed into being a fuck toy if you rape the right girl
>You'll never pop all three cherries at the same time
>You'll never seduce a girl by sticking your dick in her face.
Sometimes I wish I had the motivation to learn how to vidya code and how to draw just to do this shit. Sometimes.
Really? I could always count on Burst to one-hit ships in the other two, so hearing it got a buff is nifty. Haven't started the 3rd yet, but Strike Burst and that AOE heal were the only ones I could routinely count on activating in the battles. Granted, I liked sending my main ship into the heat of combat for it to get kills, so maybe that's why nobody else ever got limit breaks, I dunno.
>started reading it
>went to buy the fourth or fifth book
>couldn't work up the nerve to bring it to the register
Goddamn I could not do it no matter how hard I tried
paced around the bookstore for like 20 minutes thinking I'M GONNA DO IT but ended up walking out. Never did finish the series.
I'll fap to the chicks but harem is just insufferable to watch. There are a few extremely rare exceptions where the MC isn't a complete faggot.
Ranpha got a buff as well.
What happens is that if you "overkill" a target ,let's say the first Anchor Claw kills a ship, then the closest ship will get punched too.
In Strike Burst's case, if the beginning main gun's laser kills something, the missiles and other projectiles home in on the closest target and is pretty much the strongest attack in the same.
GA II Forte is good too
She's forced to fight Tact in a fleet battle
The anime is pretty dated. Just doesn't hold up like the manga version normally does.
And if you want to see Kens artwork improve drastically over the course of this story, read the manga as well.
There's like scansites now.
>MC isn't a complete faggot.
But then how will I relate to the main character and insert myself into the show? How will the animes get their american monet now?
No man I didn't even browse 4chan back then. I seriously got tired of them. There is never progress between the characters and it's the same old thing over and over again
I think the only reason I liked them at the start was because it was my first time watching them. I tried watching stuff like Date a Live and not too long after, dropped. My vote for worst harem goes to Infinite Stratos
Man what a shitty anime I don't want to listen to some history lesson. The blond girl is fucking delicious though
>You'll never be black mailed into being a fuck toy if you rape the right girl
Make it a snobby drill haired rich girl and this would be GoTY.
A planet she is ordered to defend has a coup and she's supposed to fend off Tact's fleet and if she doesn't, the planet goes boom
Her reunion scene afterwards is pretty nice too
Kirito is actually getting retroactive development in the second season while Mahouka is there for ironic love.
Everyone agrees Mahouka is garbage
This fucking series gave me an elf fetish
>Rosario + Vampire
I like the manga much more. While it does turn into a typical shounen with "muh friendship power," it was an enjoyable read. Tsukune really grew
Fucking this. NTR usually makes me laugh because of how silly it is. Harems usually piss me the hell off though. I can barely ever watch them now.
Literally made for rape
I just want dark elf romance like in BG2. None of that shit rape cumslut shit, just her admiring my prowess as like a paladin or some shit and wanting to emulate my sense of honor and mercy.
Is purifying a fetish? Because I get an emotional erection thinking about changing a murderous drow into a righteous paladin or cleric wife.
While I did just advocate dark elf rape, I wouldn't actually mind seeing something like that. I would like breaking the exterior shell to get at the sweetness inside
BG2 = ? I'm interested.
Turning the stoic angel into a waifu by showing sincerity in your work and drive melted my heart and dick.
She threatens to kill you for impudence but gets worried for you overworking yourself.
I dunno, hoss. I know corruption's a fetish, but I never heard of a purification fetish, honestly.
Baldur's Gate 2. One of the romantic options is a Lawful Evil drow that, if you act like a good man and treat her respectfully, she's ask if you want her to change. If you tell her you do, she becomes true neutral.
is more of a rape simulator then a dating simulator, but honestly when you come down to it it's mostly just a very good turn based strategy game, with a bit of rape thrown in there every now and again.
>There are a few extremely rare exceptions where the MC isn't a complete faggot.
Pls name some I want to watch one so badly
>Literally made for rape
Wouldn't she be dressed all proper then?
>Is purifying a fetish?
You tell me.
Never even seen the show and probably don't want to. But I'm going to assume this is the best thing that came out of it.
Most things are better in 2D than their 3D counterparts.
High School DxD is the only major harem series I've enjoyed in recent years. Love Hina was my first, and there were others, but DxD is just so refreshing in the fact that it's a harem series where the main character knows all the girls are after his dick, the girls end up okay with the idea of each other getting his dick, and the only reason he hasn't banged the entire cast yet is that the publisher forced the author to not have sex - even the author and artist both said there would have been banging a dozen books ago otherwise.
Moreover, the main character is a gigantic fucking alpha of ridiculous proportions when it comes to battles with his girls at stake. Especially their boobies. He powered his super-armor form on pure desire to protect one of the girl's boobs. And he's the lead character in the most popular kids show in the demon world, Oppai Dragon (Boobie Dragon).
Objection. That's an edit of a corruption manga. If the audience will notice the lack of a tattoo on the stomach, we can clearly see it's a reversed timeline. I also know because I've read the original.
Like their flash predecessors, there is a wide range of competency, and each game has its own strengths and weaknesses. Most hover around "vaguely entertaining if you're in the mood." The biggest problem is the writing. If the girls aren't appealing, there's no motivation to engage with the mechanics.
Fading Hearts is a recent example.
Outside of the battles he's still an annoying as fuck beta though. He instantly hates any decent looking guy despite the fact that he already has a nice harem of his own, and he has never once had a decent conversation with a man. It's annoying as fuck, but certainly less bad than other shit LNs that have been churned out.
>loosing her cross in the timeline
Seems like purifying to me, for sure.
Season 2 picked up a lot, especially with the Blu Ray additions - on the Blu Rays for DxD they add about 3 minutes of new scenes to every episode.
>he has never once had a decent conversation with a man
Kiba, multiple times, including working through his past
Azazel, both as a drinking and fishing buddy and as a mentor
Michael, respectfully most of the time
Rias's father and brother, extensively, especially the brother, who is shipping Rias and Issei as a result of those conversations
Sort of, Kiba got blasted with a genderswap gun once and Issei realized with horror that he'd become exactly the kind of girl Issei could go for.
So Issei hurriedly blasted him with the gun again to turn him guy quick, because Issei ain't gay.
Yeah, I remember what you're bringing up since I read it a while back, but it never really felt like Issei was talking to any of the guys as friends and equals. There was always some feeling of status difference, inferiority, they're only talking because of some immediate problem, or they're trying to find ways to make Issei stronger, or they're only talking as a way of broadening their ero-spectrum (which is another way of making Issei stronger). I'm probably just nitpicking though, it's already decent enough when I compare it to absolute shit like Mushoku Tensei, SAO, Mahouka, and so on.
I guess all I really wanted was Issei to cut the mental inferiority notes (a good looking guy, my enemy, etc.), take Kiba and Sairaorg out drinking, and just casually shoot the shit.
It's unfortunate, since Kiba was the best girl.
Isn't that the point though? They're hodgepodging everything in a giant mish-mash for the sake of doing so. I'd rather read that kind of craziness over something sticking strictly to whatever we consider "fact".
They did at least keep the Midgard Serpent as being the largest dragon of all.
No, that's Orphis. We don't know what Midgardsomr's human form, if he has one, is yet.
The bigger question here is: Is the anime actually worth my time? I've read some opinions in the thread but I want some more concrete answers.
My country actually aired the first season (dubbed of course) and I really liked it, but I was younger back then and over looked some of the sexual themes. Even if I detest the concept of harem shows I was entertained by this a lot.
Should I re-watch it at least for nostalgia sake? It was quite a guilty pleasure of mine back then
as well as introducing me to hentai.
A dating sim is a dating sim. Either you get a sense of satisfaction by building stats to unlock content or you don't. There's not much innovation to be done on the gameplay front aside from making sure it's balanced and not just a grind.
As for writing, that's a more subjective issue. But you know how when people learn to draw by emulating anime, the end result doesn't even look like anime anymore? I feel like the same problem applies to writing. The entire reason people play dating sims is because they want an emotional connection. If they just wanted an impersonal fap, they'd download the CG set. So when a "character" is just a repetition of the most extreme traits of other sims/harem anime, there's not going to be as much connection as the original, which in my opinion defeats the purpose.
How about the manga? Is it better or do I give up?
My mistake. I thought there was like 2 of them. I completely forgot the anime existed before seeing this thread.
It's a mix of everyone, really. For the most part it seems like writers who learn how to use the program.
The tools that exist today are really simple. If you have the fee time and a good idea, you may as well try making a simple one.
>Talking to girls cost 50 HP
>They fight you
This game is shit yet I can't stop playing it.
what is this? image search does nothing
>leave /a/ due to anime discussion being overridden by mass Robin Williams sorrow and needing a break
>/v/ is discussing anime
/v/ always delivers.
I like that image. It's a collection of in jokes and shit, but it also some how screams autism at the same time.
I think it's dumb that some how not being the queen makes you not a female. Wasn't there a scorpion bitch that had like nothing on at all?
Definitely Motoko and Mitsune. I used to think about self inserting into the setting
and themwhile lying in bed.
I liked to imagine I was friends with Keitaro, and tried to realistically enter myself into the story,
It's a good series overall, definitely better than most of the harem series over the years, though admittedly that's a low bar. The light novels are good too and the anime has stuck to them pretty solidly. The anime is two twelve-episode seasons in, plus two full episode OVAs between season 1 and 2 and a slew of shorts, which altogether brings us up to the start of book 5 in the Light Novels (of which there are 17 and still being written). And Season 3 starts in the spring, which will likely cover books 5 and 6.
Lots of bittersweet nostalgic feels between this and Genie.
The first time I experienced affection was when I played simgirls on some shady chinese site. I really wish I hadn't now.
I think the original creator is making a remake of some sorts.
I actually stalked the old and the new forums a year back. Apparently the person who did the art is a chick... but I seriously doubt it.
