Everyone from Brawl is coming back, with the exception of Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Snake.
There are not as many changes to the moves of the rest of the characters. Ganondorf has had a few of his moves changed (his forward Smash attack uses his sword, and his Neutral and Down Specials are completely new), but is otherwise the same. Wolf now has a new Final Smash, similar to Zero Suit Samus’, but with his ship.
Mewtwo is coming back. It’s based on the one in the movie last year, so it’s more feminine than the one in Melee. It has the same moves as Melee Mewtwo, except its Down Special is now a reflective barrier. It Mega Evolves into its Y form for its Final Smash.
Dixie Kong is a newcomer. She’s a bit similar to Diddy, except she obviously uses her hair for many of her moves. She can even slow her fall by holding the jump button. She also uses her guitar for some attacks. King K. Rool is in as an Assist Trophy, and he does several things such as jump around and throw his crown.
Ridley is not playable. His Other M version is the boss on Pyrosphere, and his Super Metroid version appears as a boss in Smash Run. Unfortunately, there won’t be any Metroid newcomers.
Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles is a newcomer. He’s a bit on the slow side, but his sword gives him quite a bit of reach. His Final Smash boosts his speed and allows him to dodge everything for a limited time. The stage is based on the Gaur Plain area of his game, and it’s in both versions of Smash Bros.
Dark Pit is an alt for Pit. His voice changes along with it, as does the “Pit” label and announcements. The Wii U has another Kid Icarus stage based on the Underworld stages in Uprising. Medusa appears as a boss on this stage.
The Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven will also be in. They move as one, even when being hit, and are animated in a style similar to their game. Their moves reference several minigames in their series. Both Smash games will have a RH stage based on the Remix concept from their games; the 3DS version will use minigames from the DS Rhythm Heaven, and the Wii U version will use minigames from Fever.
Ghirahim from Zelda: Skyward Sword is the last newcomer. He’s another swordfighter, and he’s pretty fast to boot. He’s a really technical fighter, and he has a counterattack where he catches the opponent with his hand, and then throws them aside.
Bayonetta has a Trophy.
Isaac returns as an Assist Trophy, as does the Advance Wars troops and Ray MKIII. New Assist Trophies include Bandana Dee from the Kirby games, Tempo from HarmoKnight, Sukapon from Joy Mech Fight, and the guy from Urban Champion.
There is a stage based on Nintendo Land in the Wii U version. The 3DS version itself has a stage based on Pushmo.
Stage Builder will only be in the Wii U version. It’s been greatly improved from the Brawl version, with more themes and stage elements to use. You’re also not as limited as you were before with the placement of objects. You use the GamePad for this mode.
Bosses in Smash Run include the aforementioned SM Ridley, Kraid, Hydreigon, Boom-Boom, Tiki Tong, Marx, Thanatos, Cragalanche, Galleom, and some others.
That’s all I have.

I can dream ;_;
>Ridley is not playable
>Unfortunately, there won’t be any Metroid newcomers
Bye bye hype
>The Chorus Kids
>Not Marshal or Karate Joe
This is how you tell a fake rumor from a real rumor.
>K. Rool is an assist trophy
>does several things
>Ridley not playable
>Chorus Kids in
Fucking hell I can't wait for these to stop, you faggots dont even try anymore.
Among the modes exclusive to Wii U is the return of Event Matches. In Melee, there were 51 events, however, Smash Bros. for Wii U is a much larger game, and deserves quite a few more events, don't you think?
You can expect plenty of newcomers, however there is one Old veteran who is keeping us all waiting.
Finally, look forward to the adjustments we've made to many of the veteran movesets, plus their custom moves. Players more accustom to playing in either of the previous Smash games may be able to find themselves at an advantage if they properly customize their characters and Amiibos.
Please look forward to the release Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Thank you.
No Dark Pit (though costume is acceptable)
Lack of Waddle Dee is disappointing but not a deal breaker.
But that Ridley.... Why did you have to include not only him but such a hideous version of him.
I feel like the only guy who puts effort into ideas, but I can never think of enough to make a proper leak thread or even be assed to make it in the first place. There's always one on the catalogue already.
I'm not against the idea of Ridley at all, since some people obviously want him that'll only make them happy. But I think no matter what design he has I won't like it very much since I'm not a huge Ridley fan in general.
That and transformations took too long on discs because of the models needing to be loaded everytime it happens. At least Final Smashes can have a flashy startup to mask the loading.
Why is everyone so sure Snake isn't coming back?
I read somewhere that sakurai didn't want enough 3rd party characters so you could have a whole match without a Nintendo Character? So Sonic, Snake, Pacman and Megaman.
Though I probably read that from some anon on 4chan with an even less reliable source so I don't really know what I'm talking about at all. I'm indifferent to snake anyway.
I feel the same way, and I'm not even a big fan of the series.
Considering custom movesets are a thing with one particular character having special customization, I'd imagine they could have done that for the Trainer.
Have his move swaps be different Pokemon, but he only gets to use one at a time.
>one Old veteran who is keeping us all waiting.
Everyone who says Chorus Kids has never even played or payed any attention to RH even though they claim it needs a rep. Better odds go to one of the radom cute girls used as cover mascots than that one time trio. Either that or Mashal at least since he was Fever's tutorial and credits guy.
I read that somewhere but isn't it a little suspicious that he just said Snake?
Don't get me wrong, I have no fucking clue about the Metal Gear series but don't you play as other guys in different games?
Everyone who says Marshal or Karate Joe has never even played or payed any attention to RH even though they claim it needs a rep. Better odds go to the Chorus Kids used as cover mascots, show up in Game & Wario, and are actual singers (singers rep a series about rhythm well? who knew!) than that a karate guy who hardly represents a series about rhythm well or a shitty tutorial npc who's been in one mini-game.
type "most popular pokemon" into google faggot
>Everyone who says Marshal or Karate Joe has never even played or payed any attention to RH even though they claim it needs a rep.
fuck off faggot, i want karate joe.
>Charizard-Y fag butthurt that Game Freak chose the more marketable Mega Evolution
What is this and why do I actually believe it?
>Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles is a newcomer
>Dixie Kong is a newcomer
>Gives Ganondorf a brand new moveset based on stuff he actually does in Zelda games
>Takes his favorite moveset and gives it to a character of his own creation, Hades from Kid Icarus Uprising
Uprising is already incredibly overrepresented in Smash 4, why stop now?
>tfw you want Ghirahim but your afraid Sakurai will make 90% of his moveset consist of sword attacks
They're both protagonists of their respective series, Jigglypuff is an irrelevant Pokemon out of 700+ that can easily be replaced by more popular shit from its own gen and no one would miss it
seriously the only reason Jigglypuff was in 64 was because they ran out of time and decided to use a Pokemon that could use Kirby's model. You want him because of past shit. If that had been Meowth like planned you'd be arguing for that and nobody would care about Jigglypuff
"Being in the first game is no reason to keep a character around".
Jigglypuff has without a doubt the worst moveset in the game. Half of her attacks are entirely worthless and only ever used by accident, and at her best in Melee she was gimmicky and repetitive as fuck. If she does come back they'll be doing her a disservice by keeping her moveset intact.
I'm fully expecting it to be in, just for that reason alone. It's just a stupid reason to keep a character around. People care more about Jigglypuff because of Smash than they do in Pokemon, the character doesn't have any merits of its own. There's better choices out there, but people will keep hanging onto Jiggs because "m-muh first smash! xD"
>she was gimmicky and repetitive as fuck
Yet she was the 5th best character in the game.
Go watch Isai play puff in 64
or go watch mango play puff in melee
The moveset is sex. I agree that its repetitive and maybe even boring when Hbox gets ahold of it but theres nothing to be done about that.
>People care more about Jigglypuff because of Smash than they do in Pokemon, the character doesn't have any merits of its own
The exact same thing can be said about Captain Falcon.
The Adventures was not a star fox game just like SMB2 was not a mario game. it was a different game slapped with mario sprites.
Assault is another one I just never heard about. What in the flying fuck.
Jigglypuff was my favourite pokemon growing up and still is, and that was before I ever played smash. She even had that neat cameo in the anime (maybe that's why she was put into smash I don't know) and while she is now probably more known for smash is it really that impossible for you to believe that some people can just like jigglypuff because they like jigglypuff?
Hello, I am Masahiro Sakurai, and I am here to present to you the complete Super Smash Brothers for 3DS and Wii U roster, directly to you.
I can't argue with you there. Charizard and mewtwo are too popular. I don't know enough about smash 64 to argue why she was included there, maybe her anime appearance contributed to it (if that was before smash 64, again I'm not sure.) But either way clearly they thought her interesting enough to put in the game and now her Vet state gives her an edge.
This whole convo started because of someone saying there were too many Gen 1 reps. Pikachu will always be in, so let's say you only have one other gen 1 Pokemon to put in. Why the fuck would anyone put in Jigglypuff over Charizard or Mewtwo?
Jigglypuff can be DLC or something for all I care. The only reason it got in the first game is because it was easier to model and animate than the other characters they had planned and it was actually relevant at the time because it was still in the anime. It's just silly wasting time on it at this point.
Pikachu was considered low tier and no one ever played him. Axe showed what pikachu can do. people started playing pikachu.
Though he requires too much skill and rewards are too little compared to other higher tier characters.
Let me gaze into my crystal ball...
>King K. Rool
Whose to say she can't be in at the same time? If you're some slotfag bitching over "muh gen wun" then you're just living in denial, Gen 1 has the most iconic Pokemon.
Because it's the most disappointing outcome
WHY DOES CHARIZARD COME BACK BUT NOW SQUIRTLE OR IVYSAUR
TOP TIER BULLSHIT
>tfw the newcomer you wanted was already confirmed and anything else at this point is icing on the cake
It's the most boring list yet outside of Chorus kids.
Shulk without any of his special stuff, Ghirham as a fast sword fighter with another generic sword based moveset, Mewtwo coming back as a clone of Lucario, and Dixie as a partial clone.
And it says most of the previous clones are still at least half clones
The moveset is sexy.
The combos are weak but she isnt a combo character.
You still hear everyone scream when falcon dthrows into knee.
it's simple but that doesnt change anything.
Watch mango go ham as fuck with jiggs a few years back
the fox player was at the time completely unbeatable.
and jiggs was low tier.
Just saying, in this hypothetical situation with limited gen 1 "slots", Jiggs would be the first one on the chopping block. Pikachu? Mascot. Charizard and Mewtwo? Insanely popular from their inception, and still popular today. Hardly anyone cares about Jigglypuff now.
>clone of Lucario
>there are STILL people who believe they're anything alike
Ha, I just remembered as a kid I hated Jigglypuff in Smash 64 because there was something unsatisfying to me about 2 out of such a small roster being pink circles, and Kirby was my favourite and I felt like it made him less unique. I was kinda mad that she was in the game over Bowser, Mewtwo or Dedede.
It would probably take me a while to notice if she was cut from the new games and /v/ didn't tell me. It kinda surprises me that anyone is hanging out to play her in Smash 4.
When Brawl came out, amongst the several veteran unlockables like Falco and Marth, we had several characters that weren't shown off until the game's release (ROB, Wolf, Toon Link, Lucario).
If we're to assume that everyone from Brawl except the remaining Pokemon Trainer mons and Snake are returning, we'll have 47 characters already. At most we probably have room for 3-4 more newcomer unlocks. for 50-51 characters, 52 with the random slot.
The important question here is,
who's it gonna be
Sakurai doesn't care about creating unique movesets, he wants to focus on adding lots of popular and interesting characters, and I completely agree with them. I'd rather six clones of characters I enjoy than one unique character I don't.
>Actually caring about squirtle
>Especially over Jigglypuff
THEN WHY NOT SNAKE RETURNING
HE WAS BOTH POPULAR, INTERESTING, UNIQUE AND HAD AN AWESOME MOVE SET AND STYLE
It just seems so sad to have gaming icons like Mario, Pikachu, Sanic, Megaman, Pac Man all in one place in one game
And yet Snake just falls short, having got the place in the red-headed slow big brother of the game
I'm sorry trashman, I couldn't think up of anyone else for the "Female/Genderless/gender ambiguous" row so I threw in a pokemon that gets thrown around a lot because muh hurr durr complete the starter trio. Could you think of a suitable replacement for me?
She's not relevant to Pokemon (even though she could be now that she's Fairy type) but she's relevant to Smash Bros. It's the same reason Captain Falcon and Ness keeping making it, they live on through Smash Bros. after having appeared in the original.
Goddamn. Axe's Pikachu is made of rape then.
>He could still return?
I would really, really like that to be true anon but I don't see it happening as apparently Kojima doesnt even know if Snake's in it. Unless Kojima is rusing us... again.
Thats the only thing. Alright Brawl was only 4 years off from the Twin Snakes release
But Snake Eater 3D was a launch title for 3DS, and 3DS was dead in the water when it launched. You'd have thought that Nintendo would have been more greatful
They both charge energy balls
they both have teleport
they both increase their damage output as they take damage
they both use counter
they primarily rely on psychic attacks
they were both voiced by Jennifer Aniston
fan theory implies that Lucario is actually the son of Mewtwo the Legendary Pokemon Swordsman that rebelled against Mundus and Giovanni to protect Hoenn
it just makes sense anon
>fan theory implies that Lucario is actually the son of Mewtwo the Legendary Pokemon Swordsman that rebelled against Mundus and Giovanni to protect Hoenn
>none of the lore makes any sense in a mario world
>almost nothing that was introduced in gameplay/lore/enemies/anything carried over into any mario game ever.
But no. You're right. Toad totally has MAD strength stat in mario golf/baseball just like he does in doki doki I mean SMB2.
They should add Bandana Dee to the game and just give him Snake's moveset
>complains about Choir Boys
>wants Karate Joe
That's a pretty ironic picture you posted
Best roster ive ever seen. 99% perfect. all it needs is Rayman now
Forgot about pokeys and Birdo.
Though birdo is only spin offs.
I you're right about some enemies carrying over.
Does not change the fact that SMB2 was not originally a SMB game.
Toad can throw the farthest in SMB2.
Because toad's sprite replaced someone who is strong.
>there will be a real leak someday but we'll never know
>there may have been a real leak already but we'll never know
>There is a distinct possibility that if Mewtwo returns, it'll be the female one from the newer movies instead of the male one from the earlier ones and Melee
>Regardless, the English version probably won't have any spoken lines, let alone having the first movie's VA
i would have waluigi instead of bj but hes literally the only mario contender that hasn't been deconfirmed already.
If i were to put mach rider there would have to be 3 other reps too to make things fit. I'm trying to keep it realistic.
>Mewtwo is coming back. It’s based on the one in the movie last year, so it’s more feminine than the one in Melee. It has the same moves as Melee Mewtwo, except its Down Special is now a reflective barrier. It Mega Evolves into its Y form for its Final Smash.
While I don't doubt the possibility of a Mega Evolution Final Smash, I get the feeling it'll be an X Final Smash so it can keep the same animations. If it turns into Y, it'll be to do some special attack and then revert.
>no Big Boss
>no Lord Fredrick
>no M:OM Ridley Clone
>muh loli waifu
>muh starter patterns
>as does the Advance Wars troops
I don't even believe you, but this is my worst nightmare for AW in SSB4. No stage, no rep, and still the same old half-assed shitty AT. At least give us Andy for pete's sake.
Would have been 10/10 had you not ignored this majestic beast, he deserves a role before medusa ever would.
Yeah, so Rhythm Heaven might get a rep, but why the shit would it be Chorus Men instead of the mascot girl, Marshal, or Karate Joe? People only acknowledge the Chorus Men specifically as a possibility because of Gematsu.
>Metroid hasn't had a new game since Other M, so I highly doubted they would get one anyway.
That was only four years ago. We're not necessarily getting any Metroid newcomers, but the series is hardly dead and buried.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of most of the 2d Metroids and I think there should be/will be a new one within the next couple years.
But Other M fucking murdered a lot of people's interest in the series and unless they figure out a way to erase it in canon I don't think any more Metroid will sell extremely well.
