What I like about Sakurai is that he makes what the fuck he wants. He's already got the formula down for unlimited rehashing potential when he made Smash 64. He could've honestly made Melee, Brawl and Kerfuffle exactly like 64 but with more characters and no one would complain. He made Kirby pink instead of yellow, against Miyamoto's wishes. He picks up Kid Icarus, an IP that hasn't had a sequel in 21 years and makes it into a completely different genre and it fucking sells.

Diddy Kong Racing.

Not exactly Nintendo but Mischief Makers. No other game deserves a sequel more and I think it's right up Sakurai's alley.
