JSRF is a straight improvement. But it's really really easy though.

In JSR the controls are a bit more harder to grasp and tagging rival gangs and racing other npcs is harder.
Also unnecessary time limits

The JSR PC port is the only good game I've played in about 5 years now. Fucking wonderful.

Does anyone think that Hover: Revolt Of Gamers will be the spiritual successor we need? It seems to have the movement and momentum right, but I worry that it's won't have the tricky platforming sections that would require mastery of the controls.

Dumbed down. Way easier. Lacks the charm. The original is about tight arcadey gameplay, repeating levels to improve your time. Future is about wandering around levels that are waaaaay too big.

I never got JSRF, but I love the original
I looked up the basic stuff on it and it seems worse in my opinion, like the design of the other gangs, noise tanks being actual robots, gladiator arenas and shit.

Yes. Believe me, losing the timer is a huge weight off our back because now you now explore the game to hearts content, plus lets face it, the original motion based graffiti mechanic from JGR was gimmicky as hell and constantly got in your way as cops dogpilled you/

Plus, JSRF is just a faster game in general, and runs at a near constant 60 fps. Really, for whatever I don't know why Sega kept 30 fps cap for the HD port of JGR, it just feels way too slow compared to Future.

If you have a HUEG, definitely get it. It's a surprisingly different beast, it's more open-ended and lets you explore at your leisure instead of the arcadey time attack levels of the original. You really need to try out both to properly draw your own conclusion as to which one is better

Yes get it. It's a bit different but in a good way. I enjoy it just as much for different reasons. There is more of "free to explore" and focus on platforming.

Yes, it's worth a shot.

At first I didn't like some redesigns (like you said, they ruined the Noise Tanks, and Prof K is now white haired, the fuck man?), but I quickly got over it.

Also, the game is quite faster paced, and it's easier (and kinda required later on) to do tricks.

Also, when I saw you had the option to make EXTRA LARGE tags I was ecstatic.
