i dont understand why they went back to the plus formation
the gamecube was provably better because you could actually hit more than two buttons at once without going claw mode
one or two in the middle with curved ones around it is so much better than 4 circles placed next to each other
buttons dont need to be fucking circles, it leaves so much dead space between them
>you could actually hit more than two buttons at once
How on Earth can you not hit more than two buttons with the diamond layout?
Hell, you can hit all of them with your thumb. The fuck is wrong with your thumb?
I never got why there was never a controller wIth six face buttons and four top buttons.
You had one job Microsoft
also both sticks go below dpad and face buttons so you can claw grip both if need be you retards goddamn how can you faggots actually prefer asymmetric designs I hate you so much fuck
>accidentally press power button in the middle of all the main buttons
nigga are you even trying?
why do controllers just let your other fingers sit there dead on the handles?
designed a whole controller with your idea.
i think youre hired, by uncle works for nintendo btw
This face buttons where the answer years ago.
Your thumb can reach 3 buttons if it needed.
The rest it's shit tough.
>without going claw mode
meaning leaving your thumb resting on the main button youre going to use you could rock your thumb in a direction to hit x or b without removing your thumb from a
if you try to split the distance youre going to miss presses and get blisters, especially from pressing a, because like every fucking game is designed around one main button youre going to need to be pressing far more than the others
buttons are never used equally, controllers shouldnt be designed like they are
>Playing anything other than platformers, smash, or adventure games on that
Or you can do the Sega Saturn configuration and have two extra buttons and none of them get accidentally pressed.
keep in mind that you could lay ingame functions also on a dpad. so the top controller wouldnt be that bad. would be the same controller like every other, just using the dpad as action buttons.
plus you could switch it all over - having the action buttons on the left dpad instead of the right. if youre left handed..
What's it going to take for six face buttons to come back?
It's not that you can't do it, it's that the Gamecube layout is easier. You have your thumb on up to 3 buttons at once without it being difficult, and can move between the other three much easier.
>implying this isn't the best controller ever made
for a lefty
I dunno, but I have no idea why they disappeared. I mean, shit, it's not like we can't just have auxiliary buttons. I say we add another more triggers and 2 more face buttons to modern controllers and call it a day. Also We should have a sort of 3DS controller, with the controller part on the bottom and the touch screen on the top, so you can navigate menus and do other stuff with the touchscreen.
because the right side of your thumb joint isnt nearly as meaty as the rest of your finger unless you weigh like 300 pounds, and its gonna hurt if you need to repeatedly press a
I want a controller with sega saturn buttons, a good d-pad and as comfy as a 360 controller.
It's milimetres you are working with here, it can be done easy. If you adjust the spacing and size of the buttons by fractions of millimetres it adds up and you've managed to fit it in easily.
you cannot possible hit b and Y or B and X at the same time, whereas on a wii u controller it is possible to hit any combination of 2 buttons at the same time, even ones across from each other
imagine playing Monster Hunter with this layout
No, no, no. You'll never be able to hit it down there.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HIT THE SPIDER AND SKELLY BUTTONS
AT THE SAME TIME
>Doug button is power button
>Power buttons Dougs
Oh fuck, guys.
> Have a neat concept hindered by poor execution
> Insist that the poor execution is good and that others are casuals.
if that was the case fox and falco would be impossible to play in melee because of how much of their play involves shorthop neutral lasers
you can, you can even do it without moving off of a, it just requires you to shift your grip up
which is admittedly not optimal, not saying the gamecube was perfect, just that its WAY better than the plus which has been shitty since the snes
Needs more skelly spiders.
To be fair, OP wasn't completely wrong. Button layout could be changed to fit in 5th/6th buttons, but the diamond style is the only one being made. I feel like controller layout is one of the most stifled areas of video games.
What does the button do? Install viruses? Call the cops on you? Give you boners you don't want?
Triple trigger should be a standard in gamepads
Y and B is very possible. X + Y and X + B are the tougher ones. An updated GC controller would be best. The diamond layout is no better for fighting games than the GC one. Both pretty much need clawing for high execution games.
>6 legs and 2 antennae
I had one of those. Once you got the hang of it, it actually worked pretty damn well. You could aim and press buttons at the same without that slight pause while you switch between the two
Add this subtle improvement to the list
>It's not a button
>It's a cap
>Pressing any button on the controller will randomly cause the cap to open and millions of ants to pour out of the controller
You could try this. DirectInput PC controllers also work on PS3.
>Skellington button lights up when you get a call from Skeleton Village
I can only imagine how /v/ would react If this was posted before the steam controller was ever announced
the gamecube layout isnt very accurate, im just a shitty artist with nerve damaged hands
your thumb should be at a different angle, youre usually able to hit it with your thumb joint and tab the other with the tip of your thumb
id take a picture if i had a camera, it works fine
But the Xbox has a good sized controller unless you have manlet hands.
And nothing surpases the handle and trigger areas of the 360. The bumpers are pretty bad, but for just holding it the 360 is pretty goddamn comfortable. Only the DS4 can even come close to being as comfy
Yes but not the B and X button at the same time or the B and Y button at the same time.
Also on a dual shock i can press 4 buttons at the same time with my thumb, 3 at once no matter which ones, 2 at once no matter which.
Your turn gaycubefag
4 buttons is a scientific necessity you fucking retards.
>The magical number 4 in short-term memory: a reconsideration of mental storage capacity.
I've designed a new controller. You see, it offers just the necessities, these necessities being the buttons and analog sticks, in order to cut down on production costs. This is innovation. This is the future.
fuck my keyboard had a power button right next to wasd. I dont usually rage but after about the 10th time of powering my computer down in middle of a game I stabbed that fucker with a survival knife until the power button was in pieces
Rate me. Grips are not final, was going to be my controller for a console I wanted to make, but /v/ dashed that idea.
>no analog stick
Come on anon, it's the future of gaming.
Here's the version introduce near the end of the console's life to appeal to next-gen technology.
>Not embracing the Dual Shock 5 wholeheartedly
Guess what's a way the fuck better spot to rest your thumb in? The fucking EMPTY spot in the middle of the four buttons. Empty spot that you cannot press by accident because nothing is in there.
HERE IT IS NOW WITH COLORS IN IT.
YOU CAN'T HAVE A GOOD CONTROLLER WITHOUT SOME TONE INTO IT
dont even have an image reaction for this
>You have your thumb on up to 3 buttons at once
This is the stupidest thing I've ever read.
Unless you have fucking hulk fingers, your thumb is generally pressing two buttons.
On 1. You can easily shift your thumb between two phases. Y/B and X/A. This is the best possible control method for face buttons. It allows you to easily press two buttons with comfort without you having to squish your thumb halfway on two buttons.
GC Layout is fucking disconnected as fuck. I swear every other button hates the B buttons.
You only have the A/B combination for B and Y and X want nothing to do with it.
Rarely will games throw sitations for you to use B with Y, but classic games and many new games on games with the diamond face style generally use the Y/B Method of control.
Snes did it for it's Mario games, N64's B/A was the same fashion, Alot of games use Square/Cross in that fashion for Action/Attack, XBOX with X/A. GC is a heap of shit and it's face button only adheres to people who use 1 buttons (OCCASIONALLY TWO) at a time. It's not comfortable to play a 2D Platformer on a GC controller because it's setup is ugly.
Not sure if you gathered, but I don' like horizontally sliding my thumb over buttons, I like resting my thumb and thumbjoint over Y/B.
Jesus, using the Gamecube bongos would be easier to use than this
Thanks, how do the stick position look to you? Does the controller need to be changed at all? You know, I don't feel like giving up on my console dream just yet, just because a few people say they want PC and PC only, doesn't mean they all do.
You're a monster
lights are placed for maximum convenience of course.
Done. Move the start and back buttons as needed.
The controller has a big touch screen with all the buttons, you have to make it read your fingerprints when you start the console to use it, and only you will be able to use it, it works only with D batteries, has dpads instead of analog sticks and the parts that aren't touch screens are made of glossy black plastic.
only the dead can know peace from these accidental power downs
Real talk, what would you guys want in a modern controller? What if it had a tiny touchscreen the size of the DS's in the center? Should it have 4 buttons in the center under the start and select buttons?
So... are we ever going to get Ultra versions of these?
>We're designing controllers not telephones
ARROW KEYS MASTER RACE
I just want to state for the record, there are times I wonder why I browse this website.
Every now and then though, a thread comes along where OP gets shat on so hard that I cant help but laugh until I'm in tears.
I love you guys. I'll never stop loving you fucking losers.
>set alarms for bedtime and morning gaming
Super controller needs a full number dial pad.
One of the numbers is secretly a power button at any given time and each button press randomly changes the power button to a different number.
Why aren't there triggers on the front of the controller? Also what is wrong with all of you, still having a D-pad in the time of touchpad innovation with controllers like the steam controller one.
Seriously, get with it.
only if you like having your dick in some guy's mouth
>using keyboards or controllers
Is there anything similar to this available for the PlayStation 4?
Jesus Christ, this thread
Well done v, you have just made my fucking day
mfw a game doesn't let you use numpad or home/end/delete/etc...
Friendly reminder of what godforsaken horror we made the last time we did this
>tfw one-handed remotes will never be a "thing"
>not having a phone on the controller
WHERE'S YOUR GOD NOW!?
Holy lord you MUST be literally retarded.
Presumably at the top of your mother's vagina.
I was always partial to this one, honestly.
alright, i'm stumped
what's the giant ball for?
No, but I've got a PS1 controller like it:
I have no idea. Here's where the other two shoulder buttons are, for anyone curious.
