Blog #12 is up (untranslated)
>no mouse control
Why? Why do people do this? The game looks like it as 8-directional movement. Who thought that this is a good idea? It might be perfectly fine for a single player game, or for a very slow game, but it will be a pain in the ass in PvP/GvG, or any sort of quick and challenging combat.
>more focus on instanced content
>more focus on quests, especially important quests giving you good gear which the developer stated in the Q&A you shouldn't skip
>automatic party forming without dividing exp, AKA socializing goes out of the window and it will always be better to just automatically join the big group and do your thing
>all areas showcased so far displayed a very few number of enemies on-screen
>craft classes are half botched due to the multi-job system, especially since there is no starting path that is specific for crafters, so every crafter class WILL be half fighter half crafter no matter what
>4 stats to level up, much fewer secondary attributes (like def stemming from vit, lucky dodge, or status resist) massive dumbing down overall
>"POWER" will be one of the four stats and is both spell damage and weapon attack
>no more dodge and lucky dodge, just dodge
>confirmed by the leaked dev forum that there WILL be items that facilitate % of upgrading items, meaning that wether or not the game will be P2P, there is going to be a cash shop regardless
>WoE not planned for release, meaning that the netcode will be again some butchered piece of shit that does not work well with massive players all in one room, just like RO
>directly rips off weapons from MH and DaS, with specific images from in-game and devs asking to copy those
>~25% of the skills of the playable classes, according to the FGT, are copy-pasted with a different name and color to them, they are at the LoL rehashing point already and they showed just half
>top-down computer action-rpg without mouse aiming
>not self-publishing, AKA the game will be in the hands of a horrible publisher in US and EU
It's quite update, gotta rework it but I got busy lately.
Have this instead.
>When the game is playable it won't be restricted to any region
This is not how Korean law works. It's also not how international business restrictions work - good luck keeping it alive when not being able to market and cater towards US and EU markets.
The clergy-based class that uses predictive ability ? Oracle (oracle) is.
You may not know in advance which items impair monsters or other players around to tell where you've pre-attack.
Strategic farming can play along to use as well, because switching to another monster discard one monster similar level, so a field somewhere in the future you can summon monsters
Dievdirbys looks pretty cool. I assumed it was a crafting class without any combat skills.
HOLY SHIT, WE MOONLIGHT SCULPTOR NOW
he's butthurt the game won't copypaste RO 100%
he posts this mostly (and I'm fair) innacurate pasta in every ToS thread. Probably has shares with Gravity.
Oh, have they said that? I'm glad to hear it. It would be rather dull to have crafting classes that no one would play aside from as alt characters for pure crafting.
>implying I eat frogs
>implying you don't want a char revealing boss drops before bothering killing them
Also most classes are pretty unique and interesting so far. Don't tell me that Dievdirbys wood carving mid-fight isn't badass.
You surely understand this means they will have to partner with a major company (publisher) to bring it to the US and EU for sakes of PR, payment, legal aspects and support. As all of this shit is very expensive it means the publishers get to decide how the game gets monetized in their regions.
>Come back when they implement mouse aiming.
There's mouse aiming in the developper build. It's still undecided if it make it for CBT (probably OB), but they're definitely debating it.
So im just seeing this for the first time and i kinda reminds me of Ragnarok Online.
Is there any US release or is it another korean only MMO? Is there a release date or anything?
Any information would be quite nice.
>That wasn't intended.
>Several classes had large scale aoe abilities
>Several areas had high spawn rates
>Several minibosses and special monsters would summon minions
I don't think so anon.
Korean CBT (but with an english translated client, and allowing international participants) was scheduled for this summer. But it's been delayed a bit, they are working on level scaling and balancing (they are making the monsters stronger)
God you're just as retarded as the people asking why the enemies don't attack in the Hyrule Warriors moveset videos. It's a simple fucking concept, beat up on super easy enemies so you can show off the flashiest moves without getting hit/killed.
Oh right, that. I thought that was a counter measure to defend against dumping mob trains on people. I mean one of the things people like to do was gather a bunch of shit then fly wing away.
That wouldn't work to save those people anyway, since it activates randomly.
Gravity consistently tried to fight heavy mobbers since knights existed. They even employed server rules that made you reportable for carrying more than X monsters at once, and GMs would silence you if they caught you.
I pretty much quit the game partly because big parties doing big mobs became a bannable offence... in a diablo-like game.
When did this patch come? Because I never had any issues at all in gathering all monsters in the whole map.
Plus the rule was obviously there on most official servers due to the huge population and it being open world - with no real way of stopping other players from gathering all the mobs since there was no PvP or similar, plus obviously stealing other peoples mobs were also against the rules.
Most private servers didn't have this rule since they were smaller population wise and could handle it
Did you hate pure crafters being crafters?
Did you hate the expansive statistics/thought they were too complex?
Did you think the game was too fast with speed potions?
Then this will interest you.
I REALLY hope that everything they're shown so far is the most basic, earliest and most beginner gameplay that is available.
Because this shit is ridiculously slow. The enemies spend more time doing nothing than actually fighting or moving (or even reacting to being hit).
What I've seen so far looks like a Valium in form of an MMO.
In my server, it came between 2-1 and 2-2. Not sure about kRO. That would equal 4-5 months into the life of the officials in Europe.
>Most private servers didn't have this rule since they were smaller population wise and could handle it
Actually p.servs back then (2003-2004) did not have it yet because athena wasn't properly emulated yet (well, some bugs are still not perfectly replicated as of today and they gave up on those, but it mostly works the same)
I'm pretty sure it is, they've kept showing low leveled monsters that have a few hundred health.
There isn't much footage of attack/movement speed buffs, but it's out there. Not sure if there's any high level monster footage though.
I meant rule as the server rule that you shouldn't mob too many monsters.
And if it came that early then I've surely played it with that patch and sure, some, a really few amount of monsters did de-aggro after a while but you could just turn back and pick them up again, it was still possible to gather the whole map without any issues.
>I meant rule as the server rule that you shouldn't mob too many monsters.
>a really few amount of monsters did de-aggro after a while but you could just turn back and pick them up again, it was still possible to gather the whole map without any issues.
No, there came a point where enemies would lose aggro so frequently that one of them would stop every second, making it slower to keep mobbing than killing.
I do not remember the numbers, but if we assume that every second, a monster has a de-aggro check chance of 5%, that would mean that having 20 monsters would net you one enemy dropping out of your train each second, on average.
Forcing you to adjust the size/setup of your party and the way you mob overall. Because there would then be a breaking point in which mobbing more would be a bigger waste of time.
All I want is an MMO that looks like RO but with updated graphics and music by SoundTeMP, which it has. It's already perfect for me. The rest of the game can be mediocre for all I care, but the fact that the gameplay looks good TO ME is a bonus.
The point of my original post was that people interested in it on here are mostly former RO players, so the pic doesn't really apply since they are not expecting some grand RPG stuff but just a RO clone.
This game is supposed to be inspired by a pre-WoW MMO. Before WoW ruined MMOs for everyone that wasn't playing WoW, there was enough variety and games with all kinds of different features and design choices.
RO was also a new MMO once you know.
And the pic clearly references the kind of hype that is supposed to make you believe the game is some sort of dynamic interactive world multiplayer rpg where you can do awesome shit with other people. YOu know like all thos wow clones and shit.
You can't switch that easily/quickly.
Also Oracle only reveals the items the mob will drop when you kill it, it doesn't reveal the full loot table.
Also the class has summoning abilities and can change a monster appearance/level. They also make it easier to discern monsters attack patterns.
ugh please be released already. i've been craving a new MMO and since the only two i ever liked are dead(RO and Trickster) i'm left in the dust
though i have found a Trickster p.server last night i don't know how good it is
You have limited imagination. I'm sure players will find a way to use it effectively (and abuse it, most likely).
If it was up to you, we would only get 5 classes with mirrored skills, oh wait.
>If it was up to you, we would only get 5 classes with mirrored skills, oh wait.
That's what will effectively happen once people like me figure the game out.
Enjoy your "imagination".
I loved that skill. I wrote a tool for it once, that automated the whole process till class change came. Was pretty fun to see half the guild go to a DB room and everyone spamming Abra, MvPs galore.
send me an email and you'll be playing within 3 months.
Doubt something like hocus pocus will be in the game, it got nerfed to shit because players exploited it to no end.
>LoD spawn farming before LoD was released officially, with bugged exp gain on the slaves
>level 90-99 on officials in 3 hours
And then atomic butthurt ensued.
>supposedly a HISTORIAN
>only comes to the realization that that is the tomb for the Goddess, the single most important entity in the history of ToS universe and the centre of everything
Well, this isn't shakespeare alright.
I literally won't play this game if it doesn't have mouse support. This is the most retarded thing I have ever heard.
>savior of MMOs and will break back old school MMORPG goodness
>doesn't even use the mouse which has been the main control scheme for most MMORPGs since the beginnig
>suggesting instead a game controller setup for a genre that is PC based
>savior of anything
50 years ago, after the decades long war, Rune-Midgard was finally be able to defeat the kingdom of Morroc and annexed it, thus claiming the entire expanse of Sograt Desert as part of the kingdom. However, the denizens of Morroc still remember their proud past, and although Morroc still has a Queen who normallly rules it, it is the Royal Governor of Morroc who has true powers.
About the same time, a detachment of Sages from Juno, rediscovered the Clock Tower, an ancient, massive relic considered by many to be the ultimate work of alchemy in the world. It predated the first Ragnarok and the Sages wanted to study the secrets within it. They thus settled around the Clock Tower, shaping the marshy riverbed around it into a sophisticated and technologically advanced city which they called Al de Baran.
if you check the filename, you'd have realized that's someone who saved the picture and posted it after seeing I deleted it (because I posted a wrong one).
Nice tinfoil hat tho
Well, a lot of what made RO and other MMOs good were community. We don't know how that's gonna be yet. The classes seem to generally be pretty party-centric rather than solo-viable, so it should be alright.
I hope they make a Biolab dungeon in ToS.
>tfw fighting with all i have so we can get the emp
>tfw laughing when the castle get captured and in the middle of a fight
>tfw breaking precast & downing the faggot devosader
>tfw will never feel like this again
>no tkkr/tkm yet
>no sign of anything like woe
>no rogues/copycat style class
Should I lose hope?
>visit RO2 forums for that horrible SEA opening
>entire feedback forum is:
>WAAAAH I CAN'T SOLO THIS OPTIONAL BOSS THAT I ENCOUNTER AT LEVEL 20, PLEASE MAKE THE ENTIRE GAME SOLOABLE FOR ME, OR IT'S STUPID
arena pvp only for cbt, but they're definitely looking into large scale pvp.
why did you faggot delete your own post? scared of bad publicity for the game? soloable bosses in an mmo is something that needs to die entirely, there is no excuse for this kind of shit.
>dual wielding in RO1
Better delete this one too captain.
It's an effective way to attention whore. There's always a smartass using 4chan addon who will quote/repost/screenshot my deleted shit, advertising my posts for me, or thinking I made a sensible post but regretting it afterwards.
Actually yes, Engineer does.
But that's in Wildstar, where you belong.
I'm confused about how classes work. Is there some kind of class-type multiclassing like Rift where you can build a whole class out of several different ones within an archetype? Or do you just pick one class and stick to it all the way? Because currently the individual class features sound very specific.
Also is your appearance bound to your class like in RO?
i want them to buy the rights to include porings into the game. with original sprite and all. the they should make it the most overpowered and most ridiculous enemy in the game (that won't be outclassed by further updates), and make it only accessible by the most awful, longest and most soul-crushing quest-line ever.
it should only drop 1 apple and 1 green apple
the green apple comes with the usual RO taming window, but has a 0% chance of success.
>this one guy deleted his post like a retard on a ToS thread on /v/ in august 2014
>I think I will not play this game
Alright, I hate that faggot, but jesus christ, this is even bigger bait.
Speaking of shield throw
>What I have lost is the Q) pelta star cast shield mean? Jangbichang really did disappear from?
>If you are picked up in A) disappears in jangbichang limited time. If you have a ranged melee class so it made you think you need a degree of risk.
To me that sounds like you lose your shield if you don't pick it up in time. Are shields upgradeable? Sounds ridiculous if you can lose your expensive shield because of lag or something.
Sounds reasonable, though from checking http://www.tree-of-savior.com/game/classes/ I can see there being classes listed as 'other'. Kind of considered playing a wizard with oracle mixed in so I can be a loremaster.
Shields can be lost and they are upgradable.
To quote IMC devs "you're a melee char, that's the risk of having a ranged attack dealing massive damage".
Enjoy your shield being looted by a poring. :^)
>I'm already there, I can't go back, technically.
Yes they are, and it's a temp layout I shopped in a couple minutes to show the fact that most game hotkeys can be bound to a pad (just missing 4 hotkeys)
Will we also have complete freedom to build whatever we want to then get fucked in the ass because there is that little specific class and weapon who can oneshot you because you built survivability?
See, every time I mention my sister on /v/, I get asked the same thing.
Every time I reply "Some frotting and handjobs between 10-14, she's 4 years older than me".
And every time somebody goes "HUR DUR LIARRRERRRR"
I'm pretty sure you can set a button that when held down changes the inputs of the controller. So you don't need to cram buttons to each direction of the analog stick, you'll have some space to work with.
>d pad being used for movement, not analog
I just wanted to say that, after so many threads about this, so many info about the game. All my hype is long dead.
This isn't ro, it doesn't have a single thing good like RO had.
RO wasn't perfect, but it was the best MMORPG ever made.
Thanks to this tripfag now I hate the game that I was looking to play, I was almost dying for it.
At least this tripfag saved me before the hype train crashed with the game, I got off the ride a bit before.
I like what I'm reading about the crafting classes, it seems there's a real-time element to their craft.
Alchemist can go idle while brewing potions
Pardoner can sell items while idle
Oracle can help farm by identifying drops
Well, I only posted in two threads about ToS. And mainly because they sent me all the info and the link to the threads.
So, are people really hyped for this game after all that info? I'm asking to the ones who played and loved RO.
i don't have my hopes up, just like with WoD, but will definitly give it a chance
>tfw WoD now stands for wow
I am, RO had that feeling i cant describe properly and i havent felt since i player RO, I have some faith in this, specially becuase i heard something about this game having the same guys who made the music for the original RO, which instantly got me hyped to the heavens.
Gravity being utterly incompetent, the reason RO got popular was because its incidental bugs made people enjoy it more than they should have in the first place.
Then gravity went on and fixed the bugs over the years. And the game died.
That was my main complaint in that last thread that I were avatarfagging with Jack Frost.
Wasnt WoD cancelled? You're talking about the Vampire one, right?
I feel your pain
How the fuck are you still alive after so many years. You're always playing all the damn MMO's anyways, even if they are bad.
Third classes, high rates private servers, MvP being camped 24/7 so the market went to shit after a few years.
Everybody will give you one excuse or another. As far as I can tell you, it simply wound up with tons of members just quitting and joining the retarded degrees of private servers, the retarded administration fucking things up, and it was rare for the playerbase to actually increase, it just depleted over time.
Everybody got too splintered and eventually most people just gave up on it altogether.
GW is pretty cool tho, my pc couldnt handle it and gave my account to my brother since his PC is like 10 times better than mine, but i still play it, specialy because the living world events are amazing.
I'm trying to understand what that last class is doing there.
Is it choosing items which will drop? I can see it dodging enemy attacks by registering them before they come out, but is it also summoning monsters into certain areas to fight? It looks pretty interesting, but I need to know what the fuck I am looking at.
RO was extremely lucky with the timing of release and its 'unpolishedness', which made it special to a degree.
Instead of acknowledging that gravity got lucky, they convinced themselves that they were good designers, then changed ro several times over gradually making it worse, instead of understanding what made it good in the first place. Because they couldn't accept that they just got lucky in the beginning.
I think you can just compare RO as the George Lucas of videogames for a short version of the story.
Private servers introduced F2P years before the officials, also with less P2W, so the playerbase spread thin over thousands of private servers with 100 players each.
Game community losts its coherency, GvG fags raised over PvE fags, then the bot fags ran rampart, then the hacker fags, then the crashing fags.
WoE was pretty unique though, and also a reason why it lasted so long. A whole lot of people, on official and also private servers spent years just playing and prepping for WoE, and wouldn't log in for much else.
Hey Must, I just wanted to say thanks for putting some content in these threads. The leaks were cool too, even if we didn't get much out of them.
I can't stand the constant shitposting on /v/ so I fucked off to /tg/ and other boards a long time ago but I come back here when big announcements get made, or ToS blog posts. It's nice to see someone on /v/ talking about video games once in a while
God damn. Not a big surprise that faggots are derailing this thread with stupid drama shit about marketers/reddit/blablabla.
Let's just talk about the god damn game.
Which by the way, looks amazing. RO will always have a spot in my heart, and if ToS reinvigorates even a percent of that spot, I will be fucking happy.
We should just make a feels thread that games like RO are dead. D:
Which by the way, wanted to ask, can we expect a "full-support" combination of classes? I hate when games try to make the support classes able to solo. I know I can create the combination of classes to my liking, but I wonder if a full-support combination would be viable in this game. (as in, partying and mobbing is a valid way to grind)
I fucking love depending on someone to level. I have no idea why. I also love being depended on, like they need me to level that much more quickly. You make so many good friends that way too. You synchronize when to play..god damn I love being full support.
6 months, the game will clearly come out without enough content to justify being subbed for more than 1-2 months, and WoEs will be ready several months too late when everyone already quit.
that was the eventuality of it.
>want to play an RO private server
>start out as a level 1 novice
>eventually grind your way to a point where you need to party
>finally find a nice party that helps you reach max
>they become your best friends
>you join/make a guild together
>your guild slowly grows as you beat more and more MVPs
>people want to start doing WoE for glorious OCA and ygg berry
>you prep for your first WoE
>you get fucking ramshackled by the better guilds
>you eventually build your way up to taking that first castle
>you defend it constantly.
>WoE is your life. You sometimes don't come online except to grind for WoE prep. (slim white materials, full-chem protect stuff, movespeed food, +10 foods)
>you become the biggest guild on the server
>you eventually don't even log on anymore cause it's not fun cause you're unstoppable
>some guys are bored so they break off from you to try and break up the monotony
>guild eventually dies and everyone splits up
;__; some of the best times in my life are spend playing that damn game
What was the player base for RO (excluding private servers). It was like only a couple thousand wasn't it? If that happens, I am totally fucking okay with that. I am expecting a niche group to stick with the game (if it is good of course). And niche groups are kind of the strongest communities out there.
Heavily depending on zone. US got 10k, EU got 3k, Korea got like 100k, Asia got a shitload as well.
Russia when it was supported got a lot later on.
Game definitely did worst in europe because all the nord european people, those who play games the most (except germany), hate anime shit since they are all extreme dudebros.
Can cast an AoE that informs you of the spells the mobs are going to cast
Can inspect for what items the mob will drop (not can)
Can "sheep" mobs to be attackless sandbags for easier farm
If i wasn't so set on going full Mob Army Necro, id try this out
I honestly hope that they make some mobs sporadic enough that having an Oracle will be useful. Because I mean, otherwise you can just kind of figure out the patterns by fighting them long enough or watching videos, making that skill a little useless.
I get super anxious thinking about skill builds/ stat builds. If I do not feel like I am doing the "BEST" build out there, I start hating my character and myself. But there is a part of me that is excited to be on the frontier this time.
>No fist weapons
I sure hope you were right about unarmed fighting being useful, otherwise pic related.
Here's what I found from an older Q&A:
>Monk class belongs to Cleric type classes. Fist is used in skills, but separate knuckle item does not exist. Instead, it will apply the equipped item’s stats on its skills.
Game revolves around you or a party grouping up mobs (thus the auto party and de-agg built in for higher levels) and beating them all down. Even if you learn the patterns, having some ADD oracle looking around for the 3 or 4 star drop is still a perk. and sheeping bosses (i hope) is never a bad thing.
So that means I punch motherfuckers when using skills, but I'm still using weapons?
This is Trickster Online all over again.
>Bunny portrayed as a boxer in all arts
>Running around with a giant sword and shield
>Kickboxing every enemy with techniques
It will have large-scale PvP.
GvG with possible faction elements, Castle Sieges and similar effects. They are looking into Royalist vs Republican factions, similar to Granado Espada. The Queen wants to control the remains of the Goddess and the Tree of Savior and become a diety herself, while the Republicans deem it too dangerous and want to destroy it so that everyone is equal.
>I hate when games try to make the support classes able to solo
In the newest vid, take a look at the combat disparity between Highlander and Oracle. Highlander has an attack which hits multiple enemies, an attack which hits one enemy rapidly, and a knockback which hits multiples.
Oracle can hit one enemy with a hammer.
If mob difficulty is high enough to test a Highlander, I don't see how an Oracle is going to solo that same mob
I want to be the most annoying class so I can do the closest thing to cyberspace rape, which is annoy other players.
I will never change my behavior until an MMO is created where players can rape one another and turn each other into rapeslaves.
It'll be pretty hard to keep up with dozens of monsters attacking at once even if you know the patterns.
Oracles sound like they'll be amazing party members if you're farming for a while, especially if you're farming high leveled monsters. It's easy dodging so they'll save you a ton of potions.
This actually leaves me wondering something.
Will bosses be respawning in specific locations like in some MMO's, or will they be instances? Because if they are just instances, that means dungeon running and leaving if the boss has shit drops. It could make Oracles a near-necessity in all parties who want their super-epic-legendary-omgz-niggaton-tier loot.
Priests are full-support and unable to solo.
They are only used for Healing and Sanctuary-Type effects, the Sanctuaries do deal damage and debuff enemies but it is their only form of attack and is mainly used as an AoE-Heal and Buff.
What are you talking about, dude? The good bugs still remain.
3-cell melee hits still work.
ice wall trapping still works
vertical firewall still works
insta casting still works
teleport hogging still works
moving chat room still works
vending-breaking still works
I have no clue what bugs you are referring to, unless you mean duping.
I kind of have a guess that you might be bitching about shield reflecting and star gladiator stunlocking, but that shit was bullshit and you know it.
>no third faction that wants to revive the goddess using the tree
more than likely it will be like RO. Where you crawled through uninstanced* (as in a set group in an isolated instance) dungeon until you got to the final floor where the boss would rape your shit unless you were overleveled or with a good party. Then there were the MVP's all around the open world too.
Clerics aren't buff-slaves, they are used for healing. Their only form of buffing is in creating AoEs in which apply a HoT which also lowers the damage you take.
Pardoners create and sell/distribute buff-scrolls while have the effects that are generally associated with buffs, Chronomancers are specifically buff/debuff Magicians who work to maximize the DPS of their partner by doubling attack/movement speeds and reducing animations, the gypsy priests are all-debuff and reduce enemy damage/armor while applying DoTs. Clerics aren't Heal/Buff, they are only Heal.
Oh man it's going to be fun to see oracle groups scanning each boss to see how useful/shit it is.
Support classes in this game seem incredibly fun all around. That's going to be one thing I can say this MMO seems to be doing better than any other.
I hope swordsmen get to be supportfags too.
Centurions seem cool enough, cataphracts look like spear knights, but even better, and the chain and provoke shenanigans mean that they will probably be able to tank like in RO.
All I hope for are some players using unique and interesting setups. I know that once the meta shows up, we're going to see flowchart "MUH BEST DPS SETUP" teams from wikifags, but until then, I hope people really start taking advantage of the huge varieties here.
There will probably be a huge gap between beta, release and cookie cutter. Even in RO, new SinX and GX builds are vying for "best dps", and thats with concrete, unchangeable classes. Add the fact some 20 odd different classes, plus the independent stat points, and we'll see some variety
Sorry, I misinterpreted the post.
Clerics are a basic class and have a multitude of abilities with no specialization.
Clerics -> Priests = Healing Specialization
Cleric -> Pardoner = Buff Specialization
Cleric -> Thaumaturge = Buff/Debuffing Support
Cleric -> [Gypsy whose name I forgot but was mentioned earler] = Debuff Specialization
Magician -> Chronomancer = Time-Based Support Effects
Magician -> Linker = Buff/Debuff sharing
Clerics have a slight haste buff, which all Cleric-Types can use, but Pardoners and Thaumaturges are the main buffers of the game, while Chronomancers specialize in Hasting Allies significantly.
I would not mind a dynamic system like LoL is. I mean, there are unprecedented ways to play a class that ends up making it the best. Like a "flavor" of the month type of thing. That would cause for a very dynamic community of classes, because if a new flavor of the month shows, people are not just going to remake their class, so you will end with very varied customizations.
Bro, join me. Roll Necro->Bokor-> Wizard for the unstoppable army. We'll have an ocean of the undead by level 45
I'd rather they do it precisely like they did in RO.
No class is "Best for the job". Every class is hilariously OP for one reason or another. If you find the best way to abuse your class, you are back into OP territory. If you aren't good enough at abusing it, you're into meh/10 territory, no matter who you are. Even with your DPS checklisting, you will get raped if you are poor at abusing your shit to the fullest.
>Everybody amassing a retardedly oversized army of the dead
>Shit becomes Windows Media Player with legions of zombies
>the last mmo
THIS. I told myself that I was done with MMOs forever after the crushing disappointment that was Archeage... but if ToS captures even a fraction of the joys I experienced in RO, I can't help it. I have to try it out.
I kind of dig that idea too mate. Can you give some specific examples from RO with what you are talking about? I like to nostalgia all over.
Also, it is hard to relate to RO, because you can branch into so many different classes, AND you can even choose to level a class repeatedly. Very interesting.
>mfw my bro made a crusader build based solely on the SL buff to wreck huntards
>could kill 5 at once without potions while they spammed theirs
Don't forget the Dievdirbys.
Dievdirbiai place Statues and Idols on the battlefield, which increase the stats and effectiveness of teammates for as long as the statue remains standing.
The Statues are used as Warp-Points and allow for team-mates to warp from map to map or from location to location, and can be desecrated to debuff enemies.
>Can you give some specific examples from RO with what you are talking about?
Champion combos and Guillotine Fist were the reason I was able to survive WoE longer than almost everybody I fought against. The amount of damage was obscene. Balance wasn't even going to change it without some balls-up retarded nerfs.
Then again, it didn't make me invincible. Smart-tanking Crusaders crushed my shit because they knew what to look out for. Assassins stunning me led me to impossible wins because of the way they fought. But it's not something that was a guaranteed thing, because everybody was overpowered. If you sucked at using your class, you got fucked. Simple as that. If you were great at using them, EVERYBODY ELSE got fucked.
As long as the statue remains standing, players can warp to it by interacting with it's twin.
They can be placed and used anywhere, but it doesn't work if one of the statues gets destroyed.
Essentially, you place one statue in a secluded area for team-mates or your guild that is easily accessed, then you sneak and place it's corresponding twin somewhere you need to warp to but that won't be seen. Then you can teleport freely between the areas for as long as the statue is still standing.
There had better be fucking WoE for this, I swear to GOD.
>Heading over to enemy spawns with teletotems
>Making entry points to flood their areas with allies
>While they struggle to break the teleport statue, allies intercept them and keep our pressure going
>Nearly unbreakable wave of dudes forcing them down until they get lucky with snapping apart a totem
true, but if TERA can handle nexus (relatively), i think the mass zombies can work decently well. Now if you have some 10 odd bokor/Necro's with a 100-200 zombie army, then you're just stress testing the fun
It shouldn't be hard.
The game works off a modified Granado Espada engine. Granado Espada was developed to handle hundreds of players on the screen at a time, as each player controlled 3 characters at a time and some characters had the ability to summon 20~30 allies at a time.
If a game that is 8 years old can handle 500+ characters on the screen, with bones and 3-D models and a shit-load of particle effects, then a game that is going to come out soon using Sprites can surely handle 300 zombies at once.
>with bones and 3-D models and a shit-load of particle effects, then a game that is going to come out soon using Sprites can surely handle 300 zombies at once.
That's not relevant, as it's what the client does.
Apparently there's a housing system called Barracks where players can visit and leave messages.
You can spend money to expand your Barracks so more people can fit in.
The Barracks are also linked to character creation, the bigger your Barracks the more characters you can create.
If weapons aren't class restricted, is armor class restricted?
I assume there will be some difference like plate gives +armor and robes give +mana, but could an oracle wear plate armor if she wanted?
I just found out about this. The website is weird and won't let you view earlier blogs (or I'm too stupid to figure out how), so you pretty much have to google "tree of savior blog #1" or something to find them.
>mfw its not going to be f2p
How the fuck can I play international then if I'm not in fatland or yurop? I honestly wouldn't mind subscription based but they only work regionally and not globally.
>mmo server gets leaked and later rewritten
>players leave for free private servers
>officials lose large chunks of players
>mass of private servers with too small player bases to make them last long
>private servers start and die in a matter of weeks
>somehow they kept the game alive
Do you see your mistake? Private servers killed it.
Depending on which class I do, it's going to be either aggressively mastering the art of necromancy/zombie summonan, gathering boss cards for that sorcerer/sorceress class, or becoming the best mounted hero there is.
This. Private servers were just unstable means of escaping the cash shops with cash shops. Also the elitists faggots in /rog/ love the shit out of it and spites anyone who doesn't. Fuckers are even shunning iRO.
But that wasn't that happened.
iRO went full retard cash shop mode extremely early, which alienated many.
euRO was just outright closed even though it was a good server without cash shop.
All the other "official" servers were unplayable garbage and obvious cash grabs.
You can blame obvious bad business decisions, also, private servers at that time were barely playable to begin with.
gravity made enough stupid decisions, most of which carried over to privates (up to renewal, which was mostly a failure). people still continued to play the game. i'm not saying that the game would still be going strong without private servers, but saying that they had any benefit is just ridiculous.
As I understand it, once you've unlocked a class, you can mix and match any of that class's skills and costumes with other classes you've unlocked. Skills still need to be unlocked and I'm not sure how many skills you can have equipped at any one time.
You are locked into one of the 4 starting classes (warrior, archer, priest, mage I think) and each class resulting from that, however.
Not 100% sure about mixing skills, though I know you can switch classes and costumes
i don't know when iro introduced cash shops, but show me one private server that was ever worth investing real time into, that didn't come with "donations" (which is exactly the same as a cash shop)
when euRO was closed, private servers were extremely popular for YEARS.
what i wrote is exactly what happened.
Just as pservers weren't worth your time, so wasn't iRO, yet people still wanted to play. The choice in this case is obvious, the free one.
After all, the p2w that iRO introduced is rivaled only by the shittiest of the pservers.
Goddamn, this makes me remember when I got the idea of making a full support paladin in RO. I was relying on a high wizard for level up shenanigans and we had practically ra_san01 on lockdown with me kiting pretty much either the whole east wing or west wing mobs to a pile for her to AOE them all down...good times.
i can't remember mainly because it was his character, but i don't think you needed agi at all, the link removes delay from the shield so you spam like crazy
just focus on damage and put a some vit, paladin skills are enough to hold arrows easily
you also needed specific shields (there were 2 or 3 worth it, one for weight and one that buffed that skill in particular)
yeah i just asked him, the link removes shield boomerang's delay and made it never miss, and maybe increased damage?
full str and some vit and agi, you barely need any dex because you'll never miss
I have a linker around and luckily in iRO, skill resets for linkers are free and unlimited. I have never rolled a sadder.. I'm more of a PVM guy but I wanna kill one just to make some 500 flee 90 pd faggot gx cry bitch tears.
ok i did some searchan
Love the art of ToS but goddamn the soundtrack is as generic and lame as it gets.
What a shame.
