What a fun little game this is.
It's cute, it's challenging, and it's great with friends. Getting those star coins in each level is the best part of the game.
I don't care if you call it a 'rehash' (as someone inevitably will). If it's fun, it's a good game.
Of course it's a rehash, using the same assets they had since 2006 and used three other times. But it's a rehash with a very good level design and some nice touches here and there.
It's full of secrets, the world map is great, even the music is ok. It's the best 2D Mario since World.
That was indeed bullshit. Playing it with Gamepad works way better than with a wiimote.
Then you get in multi and both players have to use remotes. Fuck.
Yeah, whoever says this game is too easy hasn't tried any of the challenges or maybe even getting Star Coins.
If you just speed through levels to get the the princess, of course it'll be unsatisfying. If you try and 100% it, it's damn hard.
Someone at Nintendo wasn't fucking around when it came to gold medals in a lot of the challenges.
Added a lot of playtime in that game for me.
>Get to the end of the airship!
>Don't touch any coins
>Don't kill any enemies
>Don't jump on any cannonballs
>You're tiny so if you get hit you die
The main game was average difficulty, not too easy but not too hard.
The challenges DO NOT fuck around though, jesus christ
>Seriously though, why do people say these games are easy?
Because people (read: /v/) associate Mario with kiddie games, and so they think there wouldn't be any challenge to them.
>tfw people don't realize that we don't give a shit how cheap or easy it is to make if it's a good game
I never said they were bad. They're perfectly good platformers but when people get upset over the newest Mario game while asking for niche stuff like F-Zero or a new Metroid which aren't going to sell as well is silly.
so when is Nintendo gonna be done with the Galaxy/SMB3 milking?
>If you just speed through levels to get the the princess, of course it'll be unsatisfying. If you try and 100% it, it's damn hard.
What if you don't care for autiscally gathering shinies spewed over every crevice of a level? If that's your thing, fine. I just kinda miss the level where it was modeately tough just to reach the end and not just 1 or maybe 2 extra hard levels at the very end.
Nigga, you need a job.
I see it going from anything between 30 to 50 bucks used and sometimes new, the game goes on sale every other week.
5 dollars would be too expensive for you.
>What if you don't care to actually play the game you just want to skim through it.
>I just kinda miss the level where it was modeately tough just to reach the end and not just 1 or maybe 2 extra hard levels at the very end
NSMBU is harder than SMW.
Ther ehas literally only been one "NEW" game by nintendo.
Yoshi's new island was Arzest shovelware shit.
Also aside from Yoshi the NSMB games are good games that rely on new level designs and powerups and challanges as well as tweaking the physics to work perfectly between installments over pedantic aesthetic updates.
I don't, it's a good game.
>Still saying it's 60 bucks
Nigga, you retarded.
Not him but I feel a 2 year old game for $60 is a bit much. And yes I know "lol Nintendo ever lowering prices" I still calling it bullshit.
I actually enjoy Luigi U a bit more however.
That's the official price, for example in my country the game doesn't exist for a cheaper price.
Like I said: Nigga, you retarded.
Keep telling us how you're incapable of buying shit used or how Ebay doesn't exist in your country.
No it isn't, nigga. No it isn't.
Like I said you retarded.
>avatarfagging is against the rules.
Who is avatar fagging what now?
You sure are defensive for a troll. Do I have to remind a retarded nigga that trolling and shitposting and general low quality posts are also against the rules?
>No new gameplay changes
The physics have improved.
>1 new powerup
I thought there were two?
Regardless it has all brand new levels and special 5 player content. new challanges and other shit.
It's everything a sequel should be.
>tfw I'm blowing out more than 200 bucks worth of games in the next few months
Fuck. And I STILL need to go buy 3D World, Pikmin3, and Tropical Dong.
>... because it is. Its the definition of rehash.
I don't even want to start anything here.
I seriously don't want to.
This is simply because the example being just too fucking good.
But TLoU is way better as definition of rehash than this
>Giving fans what they want
>implying this has EVER stopped any sort of whining
The people who call 64/sunshine/galaxy "the main series" and denounce 3D World as new super mario bros shit are nostalgiafags. They will never, ever be happy and nintendo is wise to ignore them
Most modern nintendo fans are fucking retarded.
Especially now since the Gamecube Demographic has nostalgia for their shitty console. They wont ever be happy because nintendo wont ever rehash what THEY want and instead they try to do something different while also pandering to the old crowd.
For anyone whining about rehash: Note gameplay of Mario in Wii:
notice his jumps are slow and fluttery.
And now U:
Where his jumps are more weighty and closer to the original Mario's physics.
>Why can't mario be slow and easy with half the game content consisting of collecting different colored coins? Why can't platformers have jetpacks anymore :(
>Why does Zelda have to have challenge and content? I grew up with Wind Waker and I never had a problem sailing for hours! Why are there are more than 5 dungeons? And where are the massive fetch quests? :(
>Why is Metroid not an FPS anymore?
>Smash 4 looks like shit, Looks like I'll be playing Melee for another 6 years :(
Yeah I got it as a pack-in with my Wii U and I was really surprised by how good it is.
Is it the only good NSMB game? I wrote the series off after the abysmal first game on DS, but I see some of the later ones got just as good of reviews as U (as much as that counts for).
Honestly, that really was a dick move on Nintendo's part. It would NOT have been that hard to program play with the tablet instead of designating it as a "helper".
Seriously, I wanted to play this with my nephew, but I can't till I shell out another $25 this Thursday. Fucking bullshit.
I'm so glad that wasn't a problem for Super Mario 3D World.
Wii one, i feel, is just as solid and a tad more hard
if only for 9-7 which remains one of the hardest levels in all Mario games alongside "The Perfect Run" and "Champion's Run"
just getting to the flag is already hard enough as is, getting all stars is complete anal devastation
Oh fuck that level, I remember how much trouble it caused to me and my brother, two people and still was hard as fuck.
>that last star coin
>not getting it for free with purchase of MK8
I didn't even know about the "challenges." As in, I didn't know they were a legitimate part of the game. Watching some of these videos... holy damn, there's no way I'm getting that good. I can barely get three star coins in a World 2 level.
Most of the videos posted here are stuff done in ADDITION to the challenges such as speed running it or knocking out the bad guys in that Fire Bro! one.
Also you unlock them in order of difficulty so give them a try.
