In IS the protagonists are all childhood friends, but when they were kids something fucked up. When they grew up the fuckup came back to bite them and started some prophecy shit. They failed to stop this and Nyarlathotep (That guy's important, think of him as Erebus+Nyx because he is) said "Welp, everything went according to Keikaku, eat shit Philemon, time to end the world." And so he did.

So Philemon was a sore loser and said "Hey protagonists, want to unfuck everything? I can shove you into another dimension where everything's fine but you'll all forget each other."
So the protagonists all said " Kay " and got poofed over except the main character, who decked Philemon in the gubber. So Philemon poofed him over without mindwiping him. This turned out to be a very bad thing.

So EP in a nutshell is making sure the world doesn't end because of a paradox involving the previous Main Character not losing his memories, while he goes around fucking with Nyarlathotep and finding out all demons (and shadows, kinda) are all Nyarlathotep. There's a cat involved too I think.

After all is said and done the MC loses his memories.. kinda, he's sorta doomed to suffer eternally in the previous destroyed world because possession and stuff. Oh and Nyarlathotep is totally the Malevolent Entity, and maybe Edogawa too.

it is actually pretty simple. The father knew that the angels would come and had some kind of description of it. Because shit went down NERV got made to protect earth against further angels. The reason I like Yosuke is because he's such an amusing fucker. It's really entertaining just watching him being a horrible, horrible friend and trying to fuck all the women or trying to avoid catching the gay from Kanji even though he clearly wants to hop on Yu's dick from the first fucking moment of the game. I'm not sure how intentional that was from the writing though. Most of the other characters were interesting for their kidnapping/awakening arcs but once they actually join the party they all just kind of got shoved to the sidelines and never developed or had anything to do again.
