I believe at the time those games were released, they were released to exactly the right amount of acclaim. They aren't overrated, you just listen to people who can't form opinions and spew nonsense. Games as a medium are very quickly evolving so it makes sense that yesterday's classics don't stack up to today's standards. There is no holy trinity of video games because games are constantly changing and the medium is evolving as technology evolves.

Film and music don't suffer from this because the technology required to enable them as imaginative outlets reached maturity a long time ago. Video games haven't yet reached the technology barrier-- creativity in games are always held back by current technology. Until we hit the point where that is no longer the case, there cannot be a set if 'timeless games'. At some point, any game you thought was excellent will be considered overrated and shit compared to modern titles.

I think "overrated" in this context clearly means a game which receives great critical acclaim disproportionate to its actual quality, so an okay game which is considered great wouldn't fit. And I think if we're establishing a trinity it should be the most well-known critically-acclaimed games which are also of the lowest quality.

Most kids these days have probably never heard of Metroid Prime or Half Life 2 and probably never played Resident Evil 4 or Ocarina of Time.
I don't see how these are THE most overrated games, particularly since they are all actually good to some degree (except TLoU which is generic shit).

It was a terrible movie. The only reason it's even noteworthy at all is because camera shots and even then it's the equivocal of a tech demo. The shots are shitty as fuck for framing the story. Which explains why the story is awful, horribly delivered and poorly directed. But dem critics sure love dem artistic camera angles. About the same quality of writing and voice acting.

How? Raiden is a more agile version of Snake, so your issues would be with level design instead of just gameplay. The gameplay is fast, responsive, and has a high skill ceiling. 3 is almost as good but I think 2 is faster and more enjoyable to play.
