Why is Nintendo doing so poorly when the Wii U is the best console?
But Wii U is basically another Wii
A lot of people think that Wii U is a Wii with a tablet as a controller
Because retro games aren't as popular as modern games. Nintendo essentially sells the same kind of games you could play 15 years ago. But consumers' tastes have changed while the type of games Nintendo makes has not.
They should have made a new higher spec console instead of cashing in on wii. The marketing makes it seem like the wii u is just a gimmick controller that no one wants for the wii.
Another major problem are the games that nintendo fans are looking forward and 95% sequels to games they've already played.
I can't believe the PS4 is doing as well as it is (in america at least, the shit is bombing hardcore in japan because japanese gamers actually have decent gaming taste)
dumbass americans and europoors are eating the shit up for their yearly AAA rehashes like asscreed, cawadooty, battlefied, and SPORTSBALL 2015
>he shit is bombing hardcore in japan because japanese gamers actually have decent gaming taste
>japanese gamers actually have decent gaming taste
right, playing mobile games almost exclusively is good taste...
This whole generation really goes to show how poor the state of the video game market is, really.
Good games won't move a system no matter how many come out whilst games that pride themselves on their cinematics and little else, and constant first person shooters with nothing new to offer but a fresh coat of paint, will sell a system in the millions. Meanwhile the mobile market is booming on unethical business models that take advantage of consumers at every turn.
I really fear for what's still to come because there's no way this is lowest point. We need something big to shake things up.
Because they didn't listen to me, they didn't call it Super Wii
>We need something big to shake things up.
Abolishing the banking system, prohibiting the marketing industry, and re-legalizing hemp?
Instead of killing jews... kill their companies?!
The Wii U is doing poorly because Nintendo fell prey to their hubris. They got cocky, thought people would flock to their next system because of the Wii name and went full jew when it came to marketing. It backfired on them and Sony showed everyone what hundreds of millions of dollars worth of marketing can do for a console with no meaningful games.
Where do we start?
>Nintendo games haven't been cool in a long while
>Gimmick Tablet that aports nothing interesting or only interesting to a small minority.
>Drought of games
>No valuable to someone that doesn't care about Nintendo games
People think the Wii U is stupid
And how would they know better, it's a 300 buck gamble for a young dude, and most of us are wage slaves with nigh zero assets. As the system sells more, the bias weakens, but I don't think it will wane unless Nintendo fights the kikes with their own weapons.
This is just another hourly nintendo shilling thread, don't take it seriously.
>Those companies aren't cheap on marketing. Theyre the opposite
Spending money of 0% merit to be able and swamp a market with shit products
Good idea lol, who cares we have dev slaves
Don't ask me.
Best game library, best exclusives, free online, off-TV play, and Nintendo finally got their shit together with the eshop and Meavers.
Maybe because there is pretty much no hype.
Nice try, jewgold mcdonut. Nintendo has infinite power. Gentiles will rule the world.
Groups of people are gullible. You tell them something is good enough times in a trendy way that could boost their social position by being associated with it and they'll buy into it. The only way this doesn't work is if the product you're shipping out is so shitty (Aliens: Colonial Marines) that no amount of marketing can hide it.
>Best game library, best exclusives,
Not everyone grew up with Nintendo games, I can care less about 2D platformer 1, 2D Platformer 2, 2D Platformer 3, Generational 3D Platformer, Generational Kart Racer and what else is there?
From the upcoming games only Bayo 2 and X are something I would want, but until those games are release I will not buy a Wii U and most likely I will buy a cheap used one and sell it after I am done with both games.
But why bro audiences would want to buy a Wii U? Lets say after every PS4 commercial in TV aired a Wii U commercial, you really think Wii U would have sold as well as PS4?
Nintendo hasn't been cool in a while and it was only cool during the wii era because a bunch of people that aren't gamers bought the system.
It's been out a full year longer, I would hope it has more games. In long term investment, how will it do? My guess the same as the GC. 2-4 must have titles a year, and long droughts of no games. Simply because it has almost zero third party support.
When games like GTA6, MKX, and other major title start to come out, and the Wiiu won't see them, then let's have this discussion again.
The name, honestly.
I think Japan overestimates how dumb modern consumers are, and that we need bullshit marketing tactics in order to be convinced to buy a product.
This is why Sony went with the "we're furr the gaymerz!" shtick and is out here winning. It's really that simple. The qualities of the actual product are damn near irrelevant seeing as Microsoft has the better console through and through and even they aren't leading in sales. And no, I don't attribute "better" to having more power. History proves that only a vocal minority of fags truly care about that.
If Nintendo wants to sell to teenagers (the biggest market in the west), they need to remove the social stigma of Nintendo products as children's toys. Teenagers are socially sensitive and won't buy anything they think will make them look like a child. They want to partake in adult looking things to make them look and feel like adults, so Nintendo should do that. They should produce more games that teens can parade around and proclaim "I'm an adult" alongside their usual fare.
No. One doesn't need to play the games at all to notice when they get word of mouth marketing. Not many games get word of mouth marketing worth a damn, certainly not enough for a corporation to depend on it instead of traditional marketing methods or viral marketing instigated by shills.
But isn't it also a market that offers fleeting success?
All the teenagers who bought the 360 because it was "so cool bro!" are now in their 20s and couldn't give much of a fuck about how something looks socially. I'm one of these people.
Nintendo plays the long game. As soon as Sony fucks up they'll be in a position to re-market the console. It may not even be this gen, but it will happen.
>Can you think of a great game with poor marketing that is doing poorly? I can't, and the ones people usually suggest aren't very good games.
You literally just said if someone points out any example that goes against your hypothesis you'll just say it isn't very good in your opinion.
people didn't buy the 360 because it was socially cool. They bought it (at least at launch and 1-3 years after) because it had by far the best online functionality, the highest quality exclusives (though fewer of them) and was much cheaper
Nintendo plays the short, short game. This Wii U is a perfect example of that. "lets use last gen tech to make our next gen console, thus making us completely irrelevant in the eyes of the consumer"
<That's Why this stuff doesn't have THE prestige
, that's why the industry is suffering like the wolverine clones.
It's /v/, people will suggest shit like atelier. If you can't imagine it being a massive hit with a few hundred mil of extra marketing then it wasn't an example of a great game that was somehow missed due to poor marketing.
It was just because it was cheaper
That's it. Don't even think that the actual library affected anything, because really, the PS360 is basically the same fucking library. It's no longer about the exclusives your system has, it's about the exclusive content you can get for the fucking multiplats.
And that sucks
as this is a topic about sales, the sales back up that claim. We more people cared about Halo, Gears of War, and Forza than they did Killzone, Gran Turismo, little big planet, or uncharted
Be that as it may, people still ended up shifting away from the 360 mid-gen. Why? because despite being a decent console it still had the social aspect of "this is what you should be playing!" attached to it. You say that's not why people bought it but I think otherwise. Just look at the timeframe when MS didn't even put games out, people STILL bought it. PS4 is in a similar position now.
I agree, the price was the biggest point as to why it sold much better initially. But the other poster was implying that people only bought it because it was "cool" which is bull shit
>If you can't imagine it being a massive hit with a few hundred mil of extra marketing then it wasn't an example of a great game that was somehow missed due to poor marketing.
"If a game can't appeal to THE WIDER AUDIENCE, it's shit"
--this is you
Some games are great but cannot be appreciated by the average plebeian you know.
Nobody gives a fuck about Sony exclusives except Sony drones. The whole "they have more IPs!" hype died shortly after people realized Sony was only pumping out sequel after sequel.
People started to shift away from it mid gen because Sony was offering things Microsoft wouldn't match (because from a buiness standpoint they would have been retarded to)
Giving away games monthly with a tiny subscription
Invest in a ton of hit or miss exclusives (some were brilliant, others not so much)
Ridiculous game bundles
Look how much money sony lost that generation just to "win" it.
Because its not that great of a console, even though it is probably the better of the three.
In addition, you have blind fanboys like this guy who just want nintendo to fail and thats it.
Wii U is still important. AMD said the only will make a semi-custom product for someone if they will make AMD 100 million+. If Wii U doesn't meet those goals, they won't be able to run to AMD for a custom APU.
It bothers me a bit because in 3 years anything besides SoC/APU is going to be dead in a console form factor and AMD is about the only company that can make something remotely decent for gaming.
It will boil down to ARM with some sort of shitty imagination GPU or AMD.
I've heard rumors in hardware sites that AMD might have gotten a contract for Ninty's next handheld. If it works we might see an APU similar to Xbone/PS4 in the next console and if Wii U does well enough.
If Wii U doesn't do well enough to get AMD's attention, I don't know what they will do. IBM Power is really fucked right now. Intel would cost way too much, and it's not cool to make separate CPUs and GPUs anymore.
>Xbone shilling to EA when Nintendo refused Origin
>Sony's ridiculous Playstation Now prices and times
>Playstation Now games missing content from he game
>Most worthwhile exclusives of the three consoles
Such a shame that marketing is the only reason why the Wii U is losing.
but again, we were tlaking about why the Wii U isn't selling, and why the 360 and ps3 did. A lot of it is that people just don't have interest in Nintendo exclusives like they do the other 2
You're going to cry when Japanese ps4 titles start releasing and it outsells the competition in every region. The ps4 isn't selling in Japan because it has no games they want. Hold onto your ass when mgsv comes out.
Nintendo makes cute games that can be challenging. White people in general are afraid of cute things. They equate it with feminine things as gay things.
Japan doesn't give a fuck. You can go to Japan and see 60 year old men in the cutest stores you can see.
So Nintendo takes the whole "kawaii is awesome!" thing and brings it to the US. And then the Americans go "fuck this gay kiddy shit" and no one wants it.
And then you end up with games like W101 which are difficult but have a cute look. So most of the people who would actually enjoy the game pass it up because of the looks.
And the kids and women who go "wow that looks cute" buy the game and then get rekt.
The naming theme is retarded and makes people sound like idiots whenever they have to say it.
Just because a name sounds cool to Japanese people doesn't mean it will to english speakers, in fact usually the opposite is true.
Dead Rising 3 is fun though and some of the pc games are quite shit
>W-Wait guys, we swear! G-Good games are coming!
I'd rather not wait an entire console's lifetime for any sort of good game to come out again.
Anyone who isn't delusional can tell Sony is pushing to make PS4 a video game streaming machine.
This is true but at that point you're just arguing about what lineup is better.
The answer is both are good so people should own the Wii U as well, or not. It's not a shit console though.
controversial opinion: by the end of the generation, the Xbox One will have sold the most hardware
Nintendo will release a true next gen console
Sony will go bankrupt, and shit its entire focus to money making divisions
>A lot of it is that people just don't have interest in Nintendo exclusives like they do the other 2
I agree with that. Nintendo isn't in touch with the average video game consumer in the west.
What would be the point of having all three doing the exact same thing, then? We already heavily deride Sony, MS, EA, etc. for doing nothing but dudebro shit and casual cinematic walking simulators.
Weakest system when Sony and MS have made consoles into a graphics war (even though PC wins no contest there nobody counts it)
Poor marketing, many of the casuals don't even know it's a new system (I brought mine on vacation this week and had to explain to six different people it wasn't just a Wii)
System perceived as kiddy, which keeps people from buying it (even though they enjoy playing these games much of the time.
Lack of the third parties that are always invariably hyped up by casuals and dudebros.
They don't even have to make the dudebro FPS exclusives. All they had to do was a make a console comparable to the Xbone or PS4 so that it could effectively run games like COD and Assassins Creed at a next gen level
They failed to do even that
They really should have called it Super Wii as a throwback to SNES.
Plus I would love to make sega-quality penis jokes
>I'm going to go play with my Super Wii
>Lets play with my Super Wii together, it'll be fun
>Playing with my Super Wii is funner with more people
>Turn on my Super Wii
Putting the new thing on the end of the old name doesn't work unless the products are way, way different like original Nintendo NES and Nintendo 64.
>Bought a Wii U last week (Mario+Luigi Bundle)
>Bought Mario Kart 8, Sonic Lost World, and Mario 3D World because why not?
>Mario Kart 8 gave me free Pikmin 3
>Xboners and Sonyggers honestly believe their $500 Netflix Machine is better than the Wii U
Lets stop fighting and waggle my Super Wii together.
Also it's not a Super Playstation 360, it's a Super Wii. It's a better Wii. Super Nintendo wasn't the most powerful console either. Neo Geo and shit completely rekt its anus.
This is very easy to answer
1 - Wii was a console made for the casual market
2 - The casual market is moving to tablets, smartphones and free2play games
3 - Wii U has a horrible name so a lot of people think that it's a peripheral for the Wii
4 - With the Wii U Nintendo wanted to have more companies make 3rd party and AAA games just like they do for the other consoles but failed horribly due to the console using ARM and being so weak and just plain different compared to a PC and the new consoles (which are very similar). On top of that they ignore online play, online functionalities and it doesn't bring an hard drive
Except the Wii U more than plays BO2 and Ghosts just fine albeit with Activision giving it the cold shoulder in terms of support and content. Also it's not like the PS4 or Xbone runs games like AssCreed well when they just simply look 'prettier' than their 360/PS3 counterparts. A lot of it boils down to politics and money and both are far and away easier to do and acquire through the PS4 and Xbone (despite the latter having an even smaller install base than the Wii U).
Wii U uses PPC not ARM.
Because the majority have a lower iq than the hardcore on a whole, and arent capable of analyzing or appreciating things deeper than face value.
>(despite the latter having an even smaller install base than the Wii U).
The xbox will pass the Wii U by the end of this christmas, so that is a moot point
And again, that is another failure of Nintendo if they are unwilling to do what is necessary to get better 3rd party support for the wii u
So what then do you think they need to do? Nearly all the political/business side of things aren't made open to the public and what we do get has various different tinges/shades of bias (a lot of he said/she said shit). This isn't to disregard Nintendo's past behaviors regarding third parties, either, which definitely has had a lasting impact.
My thoughts are they will go with a hybrid. They will want something that has low power draw, low cost, and is easy enough to work with. They've been using ARM in their handhelds since the GBA so this seems like a good fit. Nintendo has been working with RISC processors for an incredibly long time.
This guy has never been to Akihabara or Den Den town to see how the endless amounts of PC stores with Intel, AMD, and Nvidia products all over the place.
I feel sorry for you. I picked up an MSI x58 Pro from Nakano Broadway Junkworld for $10USD. The only thing wrong with it was that the heat sink push pins were not working. So I cut them off and bolted the heatsinks to the motherboard.
I now have a $250 board I got in Japan for $10 because they have so much computer shit over there.
You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. I'll be enjoying my perfectly fine $250 motherboard I paid $10 for.
But if they want 3rd party support they must do a home console that's similar to the rest. Sure the PS3 and the 360 were very different from each other but Sony and Microsoft sell a lot more and have much more power than Nintendo. Now the new consoles are practically the same and very similar to PC so it makes building multiplatform titles a breeze.
My honest opinion is that they're not going to get anywhere with EA, Activision, or Ubisoft at this point and would be better off trying to inject some of their own money into building "exclusive" 3rd party that just provides them with software that their own in-house efforts cannot (and thus fill in genre gaps, too). I'm probably in the very (very) small minority that would love to see more shooters on the Wii U that really take good advantage of the remote+nunchuk; it just feels way more intuitive to use than dual analog.
They are everywhere in Akihabara and Den Den Town. And they do get all the new stuff right away.
There are actual Intel, AMD, and Nvidia massive banner advertisements outside some of the buildings.
The prices are a little more expensive than US. But sometimes they get good things. For example, they got AMD AM1 socket earlier than US. They also had FX 8300 (not 8320 or 8350) for sale when FX 8300 is OEM only in the West.
Naughty games. Plus you forget Japan is full of NEETs, hikimoris, and otakus. If you are not autistic in Akihabara you are an outcast.
>probably you thougth the same when the N64 didnt had help from third parties
or the gamecube, or the wii, or the 3ds, or.........well you get what i'm trying to say.
But i suppose you are being sarcastic, i remember plenty of n64 third party games.
>Another major problem are the games that nintendo fans are looking forward and 95% sequels to games they've already played.
Meanwhile the CoD audience gets another sequal. Sony fans are awaiting uncharted 4. Just got another infamous, more assassins creed being pumped out. More final fantasy, more tales of....
Don't even try to play that bullshit. Every system dumps out sequals.
still waiting for that hypocritical faggot who wants Nintendo games on PS4 and PC.
Never saw one there. I live in the US but I try to make it to Japan once a year. I've been gone for the last two years.
My best friend moved to China to teach, and there's no fucking way I'm going to fly over Japan after 25 hours of travelling (13 to Tokyo, 9 to Guangzhou + layover + travel time to and from airports) from US to Southern China and not stop in Japan.
That's a long ass time to be stuck in a coach seat in a plane.
> implying nintendo need third party support
No thanks, their first parties have much better art styles and make GAMES not pretentious movies.
I actually think Nintendo forcing developers to strict quality control is important, otherwise you end up with brown and muddy shooters.
Because they spend more money advertising on 4chan than trying to deliver a decent console for 2014.
If the Wii-U ever got a single good game, I might consider it. However, I hate everything on it and I don't consider the console worth keeping.
>B-BUT YOU HATE FUN
Nope. PC owner here. I know fun more than most people will know it even if they bought a thousand consoles.
I've played it and it is not very good. It would actually be okay if they just copied Smash Bros even more and didn't make it so the only way to kill players was with an ultimate attack.
Because the Wii U isn't the best console?
I mean I like Nintendo too but you'd have to be completely retarded to not think the Wii U isn't a cheap piece of junk that Nintendo wants to cash in on.
The only reason it's nearly as expensive as it is is because of the tablet. Otherwise it'd only be 150 dollars, tops.
>a game that has been out for over a year has sold more than a game that's been out 2 months?
wow holy fucking shocker.
MK8 is already well over 2 million sold, it'll have no problem destroying mortal kombat sales in the end
This. The Wii-U's exclusives are as meh as the PS4's and Xbox One's.
Not if you want sales. Games like Watchdogs, Madden, Fifa, The Elder Scrolls etc, are usually big time in terms of sales. As much as /v/ hates multi plats and AAA titles, they are were the money is. Nintendo fags don't seem to understand this.
Den Den Town does not have a lot of the culture of cute, is smaller, and is much less Otaku-ish and more like a bunch of places to shop. The prices are way better than Akihabara or even Nakano.
Akihabara is unrivalled. It's a mecca for nerds. Imagine walking down the streets and hearing retro game music while a cute as fuck Japanese girl stands along the street in a maid costume (or other cosplay) and politely begs for you to come to their maid cafe in Japanese.
But Akihabara is extremely dense and extremely active and Osaka as a whole is a lot more laid back.
The first time I went to Osaka after leaving Tokyo, the first things that went through my were that Japanese aren't highly efficient robots where everything is perfectly organized. Osaka is a lot more Westernized in work ethic. Plus Osaka food is fucking amazing. Kuromon Market blew my fucking mind so hard I haven't been able to touch seafood from anywhere else.
Osaka is for living and Tokyo is for fun.
duh, haven't you heard Sony calling out Reddit and NeoGAF in their E3 conference? plus they loves Zombie games except ZombiU because of the "WiiU is shit" bandwagon (they love to bandwagon on things), reason why TLoU got GOTY and Dead Island is getting a requested sequel.
not to mention. mk9 released on different consoles MK8 released on nintendo only. of course a third party game is going to sell more games across more consoles. that's basic logic
Not that guy, but Sony's entire Indie policy on PS4. They were paying for indie devs to get floor space at a gaming event (forget if it was TGS or the Germany one, but one at that level), even if the dev had no plans to release a Sony system version.
Yeah, Osaka was not touristy at all. I speak a little Japanese but I can't read it or write it without cheating with something like a computer IME.
All the signs and stuff are in English, even in Osaka. You don't need to know Japanese to have fun there. But if you don't speak it you will have a very hard time leaving the beaten tourist path.
I really liked to roam around places like Arakawa (I usually stay there in a hostel with a private room for $30US a night) and visit all the local ramen, unagi, sushi, etc restaurants. There's this old lady that has a candy store across from the street too.
If you ever to get to go, you need 2 weeks in Tokyo to see everything at least and you need to learn a little Japanese. Japanese are very appreciative of you making an effort (don't be a weab about it though and randomly throw in Japanese words when talking in English).
I met some really awesome people there.
They don't treat their third parties with respect. Nintendo knows that Nintendo games are the lifeblood of their systems, which is unique to them. So, third parties are third-rate to them, and they don't make any real effort to entice them to their side.
>Nintendo knows that Nintendo games are the lifeblood of their systems
Then why do they only give special treatment to Mario and Zelda? Every other franchise just withered and died.
I lived in Osaka for four months (on exchange) and it is impossible to really have a life there without knowing the kanji. Btw what that other anon said is definitely true, Osaka is WAY more fun than Tokyo. I had enough of Tokyo after one week.
From 1992 to to present day there are 8 versions of Mario Kart.
The original Forza on Xbox was released in 2015 and it is now on version 7 (horizon 2).
Forza = .78 games released a year on average
Mario Kart = .36 games released a year
Forza is rehashed more than twice as much as Mario Kart.
I suggest Rosetta Stone and the Genki books. Rosetta stone actually works pretty damn well but you need something like Genki to back it up because stone doesn't explain things.
I was in Tokyo for about 3 weeks. After a week or so I was mentally exhausted but I stuck with it and I grew to love it. I live in the countryside in the states so it's a huge change of pace.
Funnily enough I'm actually gay so I don't know. I've heard they're pretty easy though. Lots of niggers with hot nip girls in places like Ueno. Makes my skin crawl.
lol, fuck 2005. Been a little sick and out of it.
>mfw even on more advanced hardware the wiiu would still sell like shit
Nintendo® = gimmicks™
People are sick of gimmicks
so does this thread proves that /v/ is anti-Nintendo? If you guy hate Nintendo so much why do you kick them out or enforce it as a made up rule?
>Atleast use metacritic, bro
>implying metacritic is reliable
Online store system, and memory. now don't give me your bullshit "It's to lower the price for the consumer!!" Because nintendo gives half a shit about their fanbase, they were jewish and could not afford a 164gig hard drive in 2014 even though THEY HAVE LITERAL BILLIONS.
This year alone, Watch dogs is the most successful new IP in years, it sold only on PS4 almost 2M worldwide and it cost nothing to Sony to make the game (it did cost some marketing money), Destiny is most likely going on a similar path.
That would make 2 games for PS4 that sold over 2M just this year alone and not counting AAA games from last year, Wii U only had Mario Kart that sold that much this year.
You see the importance of 3d party publishing games on your console?
I am not talking about a "gamers" POV but from a business perspective, it makes sense to have 3rd parties on board of your console.
I don't hate Nintendo. I just find their games mediocre. I DESPISE their fanbase though. You guys are so rude to people on the simple premise that they disagree with your taste in video games. That's kind of childish.
Just bought Wii U. Muh first Nintendo console. It's great! Played 8 hours of Wind Waker straight. Thinking about buying Wii's accessories to catch up with Wii library (heard it has great version of Okami, certainly gonna check on Mario and Zeldas, Donkey Kong, so many fucking games). My friends think they have only two options between PS4 and Xbone, I think they have only one option of having PC and Wii U.
Yeah, that's what I used. It's easier to pirate it because you don't have to deal with the damn audio CD.
Rosetta Stone with Japanese should be there too. I recommend not switching to Romaji and sticking with the defaults. I switched RS to Romaji and it fucked up a lot of my reading and writing.
>this opinion is popular, thus it's right
I think the games Nintendo is making sound quite safe, and since they don't have any support from third parties they need big hits. You have another dong game, another NSMB game, 3D World is a sequel to 3D Land, another Mario Kart.
Yes other consoles also have sequels to the same shit, new Uncharted and Halo, but they have 3rd parties creating new games for them, shit like No Man's Sky, regardless if that will be bad, those new IPs might bring something refreshing.
The Wii U's concept to use 2 screens is kinda stagnant too, don't you think? It's just an adaptation of the DS for home console use, with other added benefits like offscreen play.
Yeah, but Sony not just release Sequel after sequel, otherwise we wouldn't had The Last of US last year, The Order 1886 next year, Blood borne, I mean yeah this games could be shit or are shit or whatever, but Sony at least try to make new things.
The last new IP that came out from Nintendo itself (meaning their internal 1st studios) is going to be splatoon.
Kick them out? You mean like, out of /v/?
Well, for starters, I don't lord my opinions over you, and force you to accept my viewpoint. I don't like Nintendo, but I never said you can't like them.
>B-BUT YOU'RE A SONYGGER AND YOU HATE FUN!
I'm sorry if you think this of me. I don't even have a PS4. I just think console wars are stupid.
The Wii U is a terrible console and the games look and play like shit.
you guys tend to lord over this one
>"who ever likes or enjoy nintendo games is a manchild who has nostalgia problems."
>"the wiiu is dying, nintendo needs to go thrid party and make their games on PC"
WiiU is the only console that has games, and it's the only console that will have games in 2015, and maybe the only the console that has games in 2016.
Opinions, different people have different opinions.
To him (and me) most of the Nintendo games are garbage, you can have your opinion and like them as much as the next Nintendo fan, but learn that people have different taste in shit.
>"who ever likes or enjoy nintendo games is a manchild who has nostalgia problems."
I've never called anyone a manchild for liking Nintendo games. Perhaps that was someone else?
>The wii-U is dying
I wish. IT's making too much money to die. Besides which, I don't really want their games, so asking for them on PC is redundant.
>What's the point in lying on the internet? The games are beautiful
As a Wii-U owner, I really can't agree with this. Most of the games are ugly and have a plastic look to them.
it's been awhile Skeleshit.
Do you think
>Dropping the WiiU
>making a Superpowered PC
>putting games on PC, iOS, and PS4
is a good idea? and so far no one even mentioned a game that had problem with the WiiU tablet...
I'm not saying drop the Wii U or go third party I'm saying stop treating your fanbase like babies and stop releasing the same game over and over again.
fuck and put some AA on your games the jaggies are horrible.
Yes, and that hasn't even eaten into their 3DS profits, let alone the Wii profits.
Nintendo could literally release garbage, and it would sell. They've NEVER suffered a loss big enough to make them think twice about their business strategies.
wait, Gone Home is great?
What 3DS proffits? Since the release of the 3DS nintendo has been posting operative losses every single year and only made a profit on FY13 because of currency exchange that was only of 70M while the previous year and this year have already posted losses for 450M and 250M and already posted 100M in losses this Q1.
Wii and DS money I could understand, but both 3DS and Wii U have to have a single year of not even profit, but of operative income alone.
I'm willing to give Nintendo fans the benefit of the doubt, but I've never seen a single one that was reasonable. It's always the same comments no matter who it is.
>you don't like the Wii-U? YOU MUST WORK FOR SONY! YOU MUST LIKE MOVIES AND SHOOTERS! YOU HATE FUN!
Every single time.
...That's because you go into threads that are intentionally made to start flamewars, Anon. There are only shitposters and people who think brand loyalty is actually cool and try to argue.
oH yes, because consoles have never had bad games which were met with outstanding praise.
People are more obsessed about having powerful hardware. So if a console doesn't have powerful enough hardware, its not worth buying even though there are better games on the discredited system.
I've never seen a thread that didn't fit that description. Infact, I have to avoid Nintendo generals because of how hostile the fans are in them. For example.
>thread asks if you liked Wonderful 101
>explain that I thought it was okay, but I didn't get all the hype
>repeatedly called a sonygger, told to kill myself and that I should be murdered for not liking based Kamiya
This is what I deal with when I see console fans.
ACfag please go, if you even bring up Other M in /v/ it's gonna get shitposted (unless it's a "fuck you a liked it" thread).
and i never said console devs never developed bad games
you wanna see a thread about another heavily flawed game that was praised like the Holy Grail? go to a TLoU:R thread, and enjoy the "le /v/ is wrong, nintendrones/xbot/mustards are shitposters, GOTY again" posts
The Wii U is an atrocious console, but it's the only one with good games so it's the one to get.
>gimmicky gamepad with terrible battery life and a sizeable power brick
>gamepad must ALWAYS be on, even if pro controller is connected
>can't split audio and video inputs
Because people would rather play multiplats at 25fps on PS4 and Xboner.
name one game that had problems with the gamepad, and it has to be popular not left alone.
>ACfag please go, if you even bring up Other M in /v/ it's gonna get shitposted
Is that why anyone who doesn't like it is labeled either a sonygger, feminist, or mature gamer who hates fun? And let's not get into the people who praise Reggie, and say he's right when he called it a great game (and if you want source on that, I have it in my hotlinks. I'd be happy to provide).
But that is where you are wrong, Neither of those games comes close to the metacritic score of TLoU, while most of those games weren't shit on by the critic (as they should) they haven't got as close to the 95 TLOU has.
Its not that games have a problem its the it pretty much does NOTHING. Sure a few games use it ok, but nothing that outstanding.
Technically Sony could do the same mechanics with PSP or Vita connectivity.
I don't understand this cult of personality over him, when he is a tropical nigger, and it is worse than regular niggers, because regular niggers at least are american.
still got over 18,001 GOTY awards and journos are gonna do it again for TLoU:R.
why don't you make a Other M thread and see for yourself. Oh wait, you're sick and got paranoia problems.
Any game that forced you to use it for your inventory or a useless gimmick that could be easily done with a regular controller. Plus, why are we forced to buy it?
The only thing I consider acceptable as a controller is a keyboard and mouse. It doesn't force me to look away from the screen constantly.
>why don't you make a Other M thread and see for yourself.
Considering the amount of Nintendo praise threads that come up constantly, it would be redundant. Especially Other M praise threads, where they praise the game for "making Samus more sexy." and then they say this actually excuses the terrible gameplay. Take this recent thread for example.
I honestly wonder if Nintendo went for a standard console, features, power, controller and graphics similar to PS4 and Xbone, easy to develop for as well. Would it be a hit or a flop?
It could get third party support the same as any console plus Nintendo's own games say it should be a surefire hit, no need to buy two consoles. But I reckon it'd still do poorly due to the name Nintendo, then third party would dry up after bad sales dooming it further.
I don't know why morons in this thread are bringing up third party support. Who the fuck buys a console for shitty third-party games?
Nintendo spent the last 7 years shitting in the mouth of the core audience. Combined with the fact that the casuals have moved on to smartphone gaming and they chose to name their console after the one which became a doorstop by the year 2010 confusing those who don't follow video games into believing that it was an accessory, this thing would have been doomed to failure if it had a built in blowjob machine and cappuccino maker.
>silicone knight's career without nintendo
You mean the company that not only made a game as terrible as Too Human but actually managed to infringe a patent and get it pulled from shelves worldwide? I'm thinking that's a poor example of Nintendo's incompetence you got there.
they're waifufags, they tend to ask nintendo for stupid shit like an official Artifical Acadamy 2 starring Rosalina, Lucina, and OM Samus on WiiU/3DS. Obvious that won't happen even if Nintendo is losing up a bit (Devil's Third, Sm4sh, Bayo2. Awakening [muh incest])
they are a very small vocal minority.
It lacks the lucrative third party AAA interactive movie emphasis that the other two consoles are shooting for.
Also people still probably think it's just an add-on because Nintendo's marketing team is shit.
I'm saying it's impossible, and the last time I tried, it turned into a porn dump, and when I asked why, I was banned from /v/.
Apparently the mods have a hard on for terrible games.
Nintendo did a very poor job at explaining what exactly it was when it first came out. Their advertising has also been poor. Parents probably saw it as insignificant if they already owned a Wii because of this, and older players probably gravitated to the PS4 (and maybe Xbone) not only because it has more mature titles, but because they felt because of the higher technical qualities they would have longer support by third party developers.
They did very well with the 3DS though.
they just want Nintendo dead, so people have to buy only two consoles and two phones. also inforcing the
>same as fuck military shooters
they're on heists now thanks to Payday, Saints Row, and GTA
also Nintendo brought in Spaltoon, but everybody hates it because it isn't muh samey FPS, muh pedo boogeyman, and it's not on PC/PS4.
if you say it's ripoff of that cancelled XBL game, you are an idiot marketer and i will prove you wrong.
Yes. Haven't you ever been to NeoGaf?
>even if they bought a thousand consoles.
so naturally you've purchased and exhaustively played 1000 consoles right? Otherwise you're making a comparison to something you can't possibly know the true nature of, making it a completely speculative statement.
>Nintendo is the only one making good games
>PC gaming is dead XD!
Well, I know where your post belongs.
I agree. The exclusives for PS4 and Xbone are not good enough to warrant $400 when you can buy a really bad ass graphics card for that much money. $400 graphics card on PC will do 1440p 60hz maxed out easily.
Nintendo has their little quirky games that I enjoy and there isn't much like it on PC. So it's worth it.
I try and view Wii U graphics like playing emulators. Yeah the graphics are dated and not the greatest thing I could have, but the games are fun anyways.
The WiiU is a pretty bad console.
I own a WiiU, PS4, Vita, 3DS, and a PC. A friend of mine has an Xbone and I have played on it quite a bit.
The WiiU as a console really relies on it's gimmick, which is the gamepad and in most games it adds fucking nothing outside of an interesting method for splitscreen. Everything else could be done on screen just as effectively.
It's also seriously underpowered for this generation, which will hold back Nintendo in being able to make games that rival that of their competitors (Sony and M$).
In terms of game library it has nothing I'm interested in. I got sick of Mario after the GC, I find Zelda to be a highly overrated series, and I can find better racing games on the Bone/PS4/PC. There are more games that interest on the fucking VITA that's right, the Vita a console that supposedly has no games has more compelling and worthwhile titles on it than the WiiU. Fuck even the PS4 has a somewhat better library of third party titles and indie games (New N Tasty is really good). Even the Bone has a better selection of games and I'm actually considering selling my WiiU and getting a Bone instead. This is how bad this console is, I am considering selling it and getting a Bone.
Here's what Nintendo needs to do:
-Better third party support
-Better online system
:^) let me help you out with that argument friend
and don't forget these are the same people who started the Kaz praise meme, #Miiquality shit, the Sonyntendo shit, and wanted to make a card for Nintendo because they were jealous of /v/ doing one after the Kojima card and Kamiya's visit.
>I'm biased: the post
Yeesh. This fanboyism is getting out of control.
I went through a phase like that myself in the GC and Wii era but after I got my 3DS I relapsed into nintendo pretty hard.
What I said works really well for me. But to be honest I have a watercooled 7970 at 1.3ghz and it still pretty much plays everything maxed out at 1440p. So it's a nice change of pace for me, it sort of feels like graphic quality on PC has plateaued.
I wanted to believe that PS4 and Xbone would make things better but so far I've been completely wrong.
I don't care about graphics. The game could be 8 bit and trying to be retro, and that wouldn't bother me as long as the game is fun or at least shows some quality control.
The only positive things I can say about Nintendo games on the Wii-U is that they're not buggy and they usually have stable framerates. Aside from that, I hate everything else about them.
Yeah, enjoy never playing destiny, mgs v, bloodborne, or FF15 pleb.
Oh boy. I keep wishing people on /v/ weren't stupidly hostile, and I keep getting reminded that's too much to ask for.
Most people got bored of Nintendo offering long time ago. Mario, Metroid etc. while good, are old franchises that barely excite anyone but most hardcore Nintendo fans. Which is pretty bad considering they've been trying to reach for the casual market first and foremost.
I mean, there is a reason "oh yay, another mario game" started being used ironically. It's just boring and predictable at this point. Any casual who owned a Nintendo console in the past wont feel like shelling another 300$ for mostly the same experience he had last gen. People like being surprised, and Nintendo doesn't do that for them anymore.
Lack of new IPs worth giving a shit about (or backed by poor marketing) also contributes to this image.
I do see where you are coming from. Frozen Dong was a really good platformer but it was missing a lot of the charm that games like DKC2 had.
It seems like Nintendo is making some really good games but they sometimes really miss the old charm they used to have. I can't put it into words properly but I felt the same way when I fell out of gamecube.
The only real reason I think I got back into ninty was because I was just tired of FPS, TPS, RTS, and MOBA.
>The only real reason I think I got back into ninty was because I was just tired of FPS, TPS, RTS, and MOBA.
If you think nothing else exists on the PC, then I don't know what to tell you. You're biased and probably don't want to look for more games. I at least gave Nintendo a chance, why can't you give PC gaming a chance too?
The problem is that most console games are extremely casual.
Wonderful 101, Mario 3d world, Pikmin, Ryse, Knack, etc, are as easy as Gone Home compared to actually good PC games.
which is why their old franschises are consisitantly hits with casuals time and time again
Casuals would rather return to something they know is good than try something new
stop projecting your volatile diarrhea as fact
>-Better third party support
>-Better online system
>implying people aren't still gonna complain
nope, none of this shit ain't gonna help. they still complained about
>Nintendo sexualizing their stuff
>Nintendo being child friendly
>Nintendo making the game harder
>Nintendo making the game casual
>Nintendo making the console gimmicky
>Nintendo making the console bland
>Nintendo making the new IP
>Nintendo making a fresh sequel of their favorite franchise
>Nintendo making the game hardcore
>Nintendo making the game softcore
>Nintendo putting all their work on graphics and story than gameplay (and vice versa)
everybody including /v/ is still gonna hate Nintendo for anything.
stop acting nintendo needs to fix up anything, you just want nintendo to go third party and put their games on PS4 or PC.
Is TD really that good? Most of the Kirby games I play are pretty much the same and unfulfilling.
I can see how this is true. Whenever people see my Rilakkuma and Totoro accessories they look at me weird. A beefy black dude liking cute things is odd to people.
One the other hand, there aren't many cute games that are difficult.
Dodging bullet patterns isn't difficult.
> Why is Nintendo doing so poorly when the Wii U is the best console?
Well the answer is just because Nintendo fans say something doesn't make it true you may think it's the best console but a lot of people would disagree with you
Why is MK8 so fucking hard to get 3 stars on 150/mirror mode?
I swear it's artificial difficulty to the extreme and you just need to get lucky.
how many coins did you guys have after getting full stars on gp?
I've been playing PC games since DOOM1 m8. I've seen a lot of shit in my time.
Finding cute as fuck games to just chill out to that are high quality AAA grade is impossible on anything besides Nintendo.
It doesn't. Because you never stated any other fanbase, anon assumed you were implying Nintendo was the only one who has a cancerous fanbase.
>a game isnt cute
>THUS IT SUCKS
Again you show your bias. I get that a game doesn't need to look brown and mature to be good, but you're going in the opposite direction and you're showing just as much bias.
how is w101 easy? post a timestamp with your wiiu and your bottlecap collection in game.
and Champion's Road in 3D World is just as hard SMB2JP, Sunshine, and one of the Super Mario Club minigames in NSMBU
Yeah but look at all the mainstream games coming out on the other consoles. Multiplats and more shooters. I'd rather go with Nintendo, who I can actually see is trying to change, than all this generic shit.
I have a Kagamine Ren gacha on my keychain I got from a gacha in Akihabara. Every time I pull out my keys I get odd looks or smirks.
>Grew up playing Quake, DOOM, Duke, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, etc.
>somehow rejects all games that aren't cute
I specifically said that ninty is a nice change of pace. I never said that if it's not cute I don't want to touch it.
I'm really looking forward to the new UT and there's not an ounce of me that's going "shit, it's not cute, fuck this 'le mature game' xD"
The PC has turned into a shit fest. It used to be a lot of really intelligent guys trying to create something new. But now it's a whole lot of EA shovelling shit and a bunch of indie hipsters going "maybe if we can relive the past verbatim things will be better"
I wish we could go back to the days of BF2, DOOM 1 & 2, Quake, etc but it's not coming back to PC and it's why I spend most of my time in Linux as opposed to Windows.
>Last time I did that you called me a sonygger and told me to kill myself. You think I'm gonna give you that satisfaction twice?
when? and i'm not the same guy you're talking to.
you're already acting like one of those Smash leakers in /v/
>guys, this character and stage is going to be in the game
>/v/: oh that's cool care to post a unfamilar timestamp with ID?
>i-i can't i'll get fired you just have to wait in a certain day to happen. Bye
post it, you fucking pussy or your posts are confirmed falseflags
I did post it. And I'll give you the exact thread too, for verification.
I'm not giving you a penny more until you apologize for the thread in question.
You are one of the only people who has posted in this whole thread, and the only thing you've done is casually fling shit at boogeymen that you claim are everywhere, but seem to not be here at all.
>The PC has turned into a shit fest
Should've said this earlier. Then I could've discarded your post faster.
if you don't like people liking the WiiU or Nintendo at all, then why do you scare them off of /v/?
you fags already did the same to Xbox fans, why can't you do the same with Nintendo fans?
You claimed earlier that you've never met a reasonable Nintendo fan, then you find one unreasonable post and that validates your ridiculous claim?
Also, as a PC guy myself, I'd love to hear of a challenging PC game that I couldn't run
on high settingson a mid range 2009 rig.
i've got X1, PS4 WIIU, 3DS and Vita
i've got no bias.
When I first saw it at e3 2012 I was so fucking hyped about it. I loved the gamepad since then.
When I saw that I just thought it was a 3DS but in console.
I was sure it wouldn't sell too good though like the 3ds back then.
The late 2012-2013 3ds success gave me hope.
It will sell some units, it's a nice console. Everyone will get a wii U as his second console this gen, I'm sure about it. When they will get bored with their psbones.
>this game isn't on the Wii-U
>it's casual shit!
People call you names you don't like because you get all defensive about it and show your insecurities.
>OH NO I'M NO SONYGGER, I HAVE A WII U AND A PC, I'LL PROVE IT
I'm just bitter a lot of franchises I used to like got dumbed down and turned to shit. Nintendo rehashes shit but they are good at it at least.
I explained it earlier. The west loves to write off things that look cute as being easy, for kids, gay, for women, or any combination of the above.
Japan doesn't work that way at all. Everyone loves cute shit there. And Nintendo doesn't grasp that entirely. They end up with this god awful marketing campaign that targets kids and enforces everyone in the west's stereotypes that cute shit is for kids and stuff.
If I can prove it, why continue calling me a sonygger?
>I was only pretending to be retarded XD
Isn't this a stupid defense for your actions?
>ripoff of Assault Suits
Okay, then let's hear it. Tell me why this game isn't GOTY 2013, and I don't want to hear opinions.
>LOL IT'S NOT POPULAR SO IT SUCKS
Miyamoto said the game would take inspiration from what Smash was showing, and he recalled his statement that it would be "Prime like".
Remember when he said Sticker Star would be TTYD like?
price. when the wii u was first announced i was expecting a $250. real price of the system $300, outside of the price for a system that would be competing with the ps3/360 4-6 years late.
>played by casuals
Then why don't you play it?
>runs at 30 FPS
Not an issue. Stop complaining about graphics because they're not super realistic.
>It's made by the fucktards who made the shit souls garbage
You mean the series that trumps any other free-roaming RPG?
More like Nintendo bias.
>this game sucks because of the graphics
You probably wouldn't like it if you have such shallow complaints.
>You mean the series that trumps any other free-roaming RPG?
