From what I've seen of both, the original goes for a more emotional touch, while the (American) dub tended to keep things, for the most part, lighthearted with more jokes, not to say it didn't keep the emotional moments.
People argue the original's better because of less cuts and better music, but I prefer the dub just because it's still fun, and dubs are how most people were introduced to Digimon anyway.

Man, Digimon was my favorite thing ever as a kid. It's not something I really kept up with (haven't seen anything past season 3) and outside of some nostalgia from when I was in high school I never really looked into subs though.

When a digimon dies its data gets scattered around the place it died, other digimons can absorb it to increase their "level" and chances to digivolve
if the data is not absorbed it behaves like a dust and eventually forms small balls called Data Packs, which can be consumed by other digimons as food, if several Data packs fuse, they might create a new digimon

Frontier goes for a similar explanation as Adventure and 02, although this time you literally respawn and you will remember everything before your death

Dont remember what Savers used, and Xwars used the become data idea from Tamers, but it never explained it
