Does anybody have any tips for getting FUCKING FLAX?! I need it to get my Weaver up any higher, but the only way to get it seems to be either Botany 35, or random Levequest rewards, and all I can ever get is goddamn shards!
Personally I hate how hunts have basically turned the game on its head. Let's release a feature that gives rewards so massive that there is literally no reason to do anything else.
No one does Ramuh except for glamour. Who gives a shit about a i100 weapons when an i110 is so easy to obtain? Why would I do Syrcus for anything but an allagan tome? Why would I do the new dungeons when hunts give more myth and soldiery per hour than they ever could while also getting me sands and oils to upgrade my other gear to 110?

>>255663993 It's okay to do in FFXIV since gear is defined by item level and not a wealth of side-grades with a handful of clear upgrades per job. 2.4 and beyond will make current items pointless outside of glamour.
>>255664578 >XI's sole fault was PlayOnline Yeah no. XI had alot of faults, from disturbing looking tarus(I think the Lalas look fine, there's just something...wrong with how Tarus look ingame), the crafting system(No way to know recipes ingame whatsoever, either word of mouth, luck, or wiki, if someone isn't hoarding the recipe knowledge), forced grouping(Supposedly not as bad now but it happened long enough to turn most folks off. "BUT BUT ITS AN MMO Y U NO SOCIALIZE FAGET?" because not everyone will want to group all the time, sometimes friends/guildies're busy and you just wanna do something useful/progressive alone, not sit for 6hrs recruiting so you can just -level-, let alone do world bosses), and on that note, World Bosses. That shit is old hat and was a terrible idea, not even nostalgia glasses make it a "good thing" to sit and wait hours if not -days- for a spawn everyone and their goddamn brother needs/wants and have to fight over tagging it.
I'm not saying XIV is a ton better, but XI had tons of flaws if you're not a rose-tinted-goggled dumbass.
Try though you might to convince me to come back, this shit is just...not fun at all to play.
>That bizarre skating thing your character does when you move while casting a long animation ability >That strange hitbox detection on boss aoe's and range indicators >If a target is moving you are literally not going to hit it as melee (maybe they fixed this recently) >Flanks not really being flanks >2 second GCD >Queue up to do a dungeon to head home to collect gear to queue up and do a better dungeon to head home and collect better gear to queue up for...
Maybe I'd have more fun if I had friends playing it, but playing it purely based on the merits of what was in the game rather than the endorphins from good times with buds kinda opened my eyes to how boring it was.
>Cut out the bullshit in between good content. 90% of the main scenario could be condensed, retain the important stuff, and not have us learning shit like what the Scions' Receptionist does in her fucking spare time.
>Make fates actual open-world events instead of zerg-encouraged spam fests. Shit has potential to be good.
>Make dungeons somewhat challenging again. Latest patch showed everyone outscales the hell out of their petty requirements gear-wise, and mechanically, the dungeons don't do anything difficult. It's not like dungeons are the sole way of getting tomes anymore thanks to zerg-fest hunts, so they might as well make them difficult again.
>>255665305 >The only thing that was bad about 1.0 was the engine. Lack of hardware mouse and general UI input lack was unforgiveable. Not the awful map design? the 300 menus? the terribad dungeons? the barebones world with fuck all to do besides party xp chains or levequests until the next story quest hits? I can't go back, I CAN'T
>>255666189 But anon, the Scions' Receptionist is so fucking adorable, including her VA who gets like 3 lines ever, sadly.
There's no way to make Fates like that though...that's Player fault more than bad design, people would zerg it either way.
As for Dungeons being challenging, I assume you mean only endgame...I still have plenty of challenge pre-endgame, even if my roulette group isn't a bunch of fucking retards like the Summoner I had earlier who was purposely pulling groups before the Tank(who was "new" to the PC, apparently had gotten to 46 on PS4 and kept fucking up their hotkeys and being slow/ignorant + lagged apparently and kept getting hit by aoes) could. I don't even wanna talk about the stupid shit the Black Mage was doing. I hated healing that group. But I got a sexy skimpy caster top for my Lalafell at least.
>>255666189 >Not liking Tataru's mini adventures in mining. >Not liking she is a character with goals and drives to help the scions and has her owns ways of doing them >Not acknowledging she is the hardest worker there. >>255667392 I played ARR in beta and thought the combat was boring as fuck. I've been playing it now for a week and It's not boring me, I don't know what the fuck is going on. I'm playing Arcanist too, not the most involved of classes.
>>255667867 Its because they pad it as you level. Tried lancer in the beta and it fucking suuuuucked it was so slow. Then learnt lancers were edgy scrublords in 2.0 and went BLM for life like a true gentlemen.
Also as a raider i prefer the gdc just because fuck ups mean more. If you stand in shit and the healer has to focus heal you thats extremely detrimental to the flow of the entire fight whereas in wow the healers are like fireworks displays of random healing.
I really liked the 2 months I've played. I got a gatherer and crafting class to 50 and I've done most of the dungeons. The combat can be dull, but I like the bosses and the look of all the gear. But now I'm just waiting for the reset each week and getting my tomes and that's it. I won't resub but I'll come back eventually.
>>255668624 >Tfw your XIV server is more DATABASEDATABASE tier than your high pop wow server ever was.
I know people that work as fucking merhcants in marchantile free companies. I got hired by some rich roegadyn miner to bodyguard him in the lvl.50 areas so he could mine without stealth slowing him down and gave me 600k gil and enough mats to get weaver from 1-50 for 30 minutes work.
Also we have a guy and catgirl on my server that dress, name their characters and rp as hildebrand and his assistant solving mysteries.
The strangest thing was when i couldnt afford my sub for a month because i had to repair a collapsed balcony on the house and when i came back people in town were saying how happy they were to see i was okay.

>>255669565 Urianger's VA in both Jap and Eng sounds like he's going to betray us at a later date. In fact...now that I think about it...where was he when...well, you know what happens at the Scion base. Did he actually betray us? I haven't hit 50 yet(45 whm + 45 PLD), but spoilers are always welcome.
>>255669981 Oh hes definitely up to fuckin' something. He shows up as Ramuh challenges you to an honnorabur duel to "confirmed his theories" then fucks off. Something to do with the void and Zodiark existing in a world seperate to eorzea or the lifestream.
>>255669289 I don't think I can make the change. Y'shtola sounds nice, but I don't like Papalymo or Thancred. And I can't lose my nigga Gideon Emery as Urianger. I've just started the questline to fight Titan, does Urianger get more screentime?
Personally id just like to have different egis for the same roles, like garuda for ranged wind dps, ramuh for ranged lightnging or ifrit for fire melee dps, leviathan for water melee dps and so on. but then im also the kind fo fuck who wants puppet master and geomancer to return from XI
>>255670697 Much as i hate to admit it lightnings was better. paced over a month of quests getting neat weapon models and fighting chaos bahamut in mor dhona to the ff13 battle theme AKA the only good thing to come from that game, was neat.
I stopped playing after a couple of months, after I got to like ilvl 87 or some shit I just stopped. It's so incredibly boring. I also hate the skill/class system, there's really only one way to play each class efficiently, stray from this path and you're a shitter. So everyone is expected to play a certain way or risk getting kicked.
>>255671452 So what, were you trying to fight enemies from the Front as a Dragoon? Or did you try to dps too much as a WHM?
Plus endgame, yeah it's kinda like that...but that seems to be what escapes most people: This's one of the MMOs where there's more of a social and crafting aspect than "just" endgame, if you can find a way to enjoy it. I fucking -love- my guild, they're a bunch of crazy and active motherfuckers, whether it's a Lala Orgy in the Hot Tub as seen earlier in the thread or running tough dungeons for alt classes to get gear/exp.
>>255671528 >How many mini Macro's do you have? >How often do you reapply heavy stab >Do you know about damage buff to DoT >How often do you reapply DoT >Do you know when to use the LB? >Do you tell people who tell you to use the lb to fuck off? >Do you know how to talk down the tank?
>>255671619 Yesss...MOAR SHOULDER LALAS! Just a shame this's the only time it happens.
How about some buttkarting? I managed to get the glitch working once but on my screen it looked like I was stuck walking backwards in place, but it looked like I was still sitting and scooting along to others
>>255671750 I don't use Macros. I play on PS3 and it confounds me how to set them up. As often as it runs out, both for HS and DoT Skills, though I don't know what you mean by buffs to the DoT... As for the LB, near the end of the battle, when it can OHK the boss? Though the last few dungeons I've done (Not that I've done any recently) the Tank seems to wind up just using their Party Buff LB instead.
>>255656826 I would like it better if it's game play wasn't ass for 90% of their classes. Monk is the best game play and even that is simple as fuck at max level.
Also, I hate how the trash mobs in 99% of the dungeon and raid content are health sponges serving no purpose other then slowing you down. If there was a risk of death at any point I could at least enjoy it but there is not.
Honestly it seems the biggest draw for most people are the graphics and making waifu/husbandos which isn't really something I care about.
The gameplay did not excite me too much. I really do agree that this MMO is not for you, if you don't know how to make friends. I'm too much of a jaded asshole to have fun. Stuff like "Lala Orgy in the Hot Tub" just seems incredibly stupid to me even though I play a lala myself.
>>255671916 I'm eager to do those when I ding 50. Even if I've spoiled myself on the whole thing thanks to /v/.
On a pic-related note...I know what he's wearing is shit I can't get, but the girl in the background with the yellowish bikini...how the fuck does Glamouring work? Is it race-specific? I tried Trying On the stuff it said her gear was Glamour'd to but it looked significantly different on my Lala.
>>255672358 It was stupid. That's the fun part...started as an afk lala in the tub, one other went to surprise him when he got back, then I joined, then our guildleader joined, then others showed up and freaked out and we had a good bit of silly entertainment for awhile
>>255672203 Well, if you can dodge at all times you're a halfway decent DRG but not using it to it's full potential. Mostly for a lack of understanding though. Damage Buffs like B4B and HS can increase the DoT damage however mini macros like two to the skills, A buff and attack, can help set up for a better damage output. Using the LB efficiently, rather then just holding on to it all dungeon long is better due to the fact it resets all the way through the dungeon. OHK might not always be the answer and YOU have to defer to a BLM or SUM if you thing your DPS isn't enough to kill the adds quick enough. Don't just assume people will think about doing it because not alot of them are smart enough to think ahead.
If you went back in time and told the state of warlords of draenor looking like a melange of cobbled together shite and FFXIV going strong and still getting massive updates as a sub mmo 3 years ago i would call you insane.
I like spending time in Gridania, sitting down and waving to people I've waved to before. But after 5 minutes doing nothing I realise how much time I'm wasting and have to log out right away. It looks so pretty though.
>>255672369 Underwear type gear just looks different on each race. With Glamours, you just have to be able to wear the item you want your gear to look like.
>>255673463 That's the problem then I guess, Hempen Pantalettes were the gear I wanted and while it looks like a sexy bikini on a human, it looks like fucking frilly poofy leg-length capris on Lalas. Lalas can be lewd too, damnit!
>>255656826 Been playing for 5 months now. Finally got my first Zenith today (got distracted for a few months level-capping Land/Hands and horizontally leveling alt DoW/DoM classes).
If anything, the game has gotten even better as the time has gone along. Ultros has gotten visibly more populated, and hunts and Atma farming has added a sense of amazing vitality to every zone. I'm in a basically dead FC (joined out of pity), so I do nothing but DF Roulettes and literally everyone I've run with has been nothing but cool. The game is gorgeous, the GCD actually helps it feel kind of like a turn-based old-school RPG, and the content feels like more than enough.
I played WoW for several years and came off a decent year-long session of SWTOR at launch (which, as a primarily single-player kind of guy, wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be). ARR is, BY FAR, my favorite of the three. Sure, I'm a long-time FF fan, and the game itself doesn't do anything paradigm-shifting to the genre, but the game is safe, solid, and comfy as fuck.
Wildstar Wildstar... propably fell on it's face. The problem the game has is that it's too hard for casuals(aka shit players). The first lvl 20 dungeons are harder than first tiers of coil. The veteran dungeons are harder than most raids in whole FFXIV. And yes, I quit FFXIV after farming Twintania for 12 weeks.
Wildstar will propably die, but don't even think about for a second that it's somehow inferior to FFXIV. FFXIV is boring, claustrophobic and casual as fuck compared Wildstar. The combat system and mechanics in Wildstar are way better in every possible way. Also the world is not filled with "MUH INVISIBLE WALLZ!"
>>255674168 Maybe it has to do with the fact that a ton of content was bugged on release, hurr let me make this adventure or this dungeon unfinshable because of a glitch. Hell some of them are still fucked.
Attunment is the most boring shit in the world in that game
>>255673705 The worse part is that people people shit on the Lancer storyline saying it teaches you to take the hit. It teaches you to not panic and adapt in a bad situation most of all to avoid taking the damage.
>>255675360 >tfw Dragoon >tfw Dragoon chastising another Dragoon for not dodging at all >People in the group start shit talking DRG but call you competent DPS, kick him find another BRD >"This DRG's good don't worry"
>>255675884 Theres a lot to critiicise about XIV, but its hard modes are without question better than any other mmos dungeons 'hard modes' in terms of completely altering the tone and feel of the same map to make it feel new.
>>255676249 Hardmode dungeons are for the most part entirely new encounters. You'd think it'd just be a few different bosses or more monsters, but nope. Entirely new scripted questline, routes and story beats along with the basic improvements.
With i.lv gear inflation, even the biggest shitters can beat the hard modes, especially if you join an FC that likes helping new players.
This is from when ARR was fresh anon.
You don't know the pain of 3 months of Titan HM wipes as a tank and watching everyone and your hopes of getting your relic dying before your eyes and jumping off to not give Titan the satisfaction of punching you to death.
>>255675164 God please don't remind me of Garuda. First attempt, after never having failed a boss or had trouble...the 90 min timer ran out before we downed her. 2nd time: Wipe wipe wipe then finally kill. Fuck.
It didn't help that I was partially responsible. The first time I was hiding behind the back pillars so she'd cleave the front ones on my way back up front. The 2nd time I didn't realize I could dodge that huge-dmg hit, Spinburst or some shit, entirely. Made it way harder on my poor healing buddy. The DPS was terrible at Plumes though among a few other issues soit was bad times all around. I fear doing the Hardmode one.
>>255676764 Yes. Even if you dont get sucked in you will be sitting in the autumnal woods of griania hearing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0jNsGOMheA as lalas, roes, elezenn and many cats journey about fighting mandragora, ochu, rabits and bees and shit.
Come home White man. It aint Windurst, but its the best we have this gen.
>>255677673 Omegas confirmed?!? >>255677720 Played wow for 9 years up till seige, its a single player game with opitional instanced content nigga, remove those blinders of brand loyalty. the game we loved is gone and so are all the good devs that made it.
Does it have >Open World PVP >non-linear world design >progression (like grind or quests) incensing players to interact, rather than acting as single-player experiences >no dungeons and very limited instances, pretty much no way to lock yourself from hostile players >meaningful economy and political systems, which are more important than grinding the best equipment
>>255677997 >Open World PVP Fuck that. That just makes it a griefer's paradise.
>Non-linear world design Sorta? There's multiple zones per lvl range, nothing stopping you from going to other towns on foot, most of them are connected
>Progression encouraging interaction FATEs, Hunt Boards, Guildhests & standard Dungeons
>Limited instances so you can't hide from jerkoffs Go back to Everquest/1998 where this shit belongs
>Economy Maybe? Everything is player-made, you can Wishlist shit on the AH so people know there's a Demand to craft more of it, although "Best" is still dropped so as to encourage folks to group up into Static groups and earn them; political though not really.
What's a good number of members for an FC? I've been playing a week and I'm still grinding solo, but I don't want to join a tiny/dead guild. I want to actually get serious when I reach max level. Also, does the GC of a guild impact individual players? I'm not abandoning the Maelstrom.
>>255678703 >>Open World PVP >Fuck that. That just makes it a griefer's paradise. Not if your system is designed well and the combat system is fair and gives the attacked one a fair chance, rather than screwing him for not having enough levels or gear. >Limited instances so you can't hide from jerkoffs Play a singleplayer game, if you're afraid to interact with people, twat.
So it seems like it's another generic WoW-like party-oriented hubworld. >>255678761 >Sounds to me like you just want ultima 2.0 No, I just want a game that's actually an MMO. Where I can see random shit happening, battles, raids, groups of people having their own goal, not everyone standing in front of an NPC or dungeon that's going to make their quest completely personal and detached from other players.
>>255679869 You skipped over the FATEs and Hunt Boards that're both in the world and free to join for anyone nearby among other issues...you just seem to have a hardon for being a dick in pvp and think "if I can't gank someone and be an asshole, that means it might as well be a single player game"
>>255680396 If you stated it's in there, I haven't mentioned it. >you just seem to have a hardon for being a dick in pvp and think "if I can't gank someone and be an asshole, that means it might as well be a single player game" You just seem to have a limp dick for "oh my god, this game might actually require adaptiveness from me! Please overlords, stop them from interacting with me in a multiplayer game!". Why do you play an MMO, if the word MULTIPLAYER is in the genre's name. You can play Skyrim, for instance, and have an MMO experience without other players. Or play a co-op game with friends, so nobody can interrupt you. Lack of interactivity in the overworld makes the game a huge hub, not an MMO.
>>255681227 It does. Co-op is the name you're looking for, where everyone is fun and peaceful. MMOs are about neverending interaction, so competition. >>255681273 >u mad Yeah, I'm mad. About idiots passively running the genre into the ground since WoW came out. Before that - and a bit after that - there was a multitude of games with open-world PvP and nobody cried about it. It added tension to exploring, it made the world and the game engaging, instead of a boring, lifeless hub.
Honestly, I didn't like it. Not that you care, as there are no words I can put on this screen that will make you betray your rabid fanaticism.
The classes were nothing we haven't seen before, and done better by others (see Rift), the world, while pretty to look at still isn't as visually interesting as its competitors (see Tera) and it lacks the sheer quantity of content WoW has.
Personally, I never really managed to relate to my character. I always felt like another clone. Sure my eyes might be slightly further apart, and my shade of brown hair might a little different that the 17 people next to me... but the fact that everyone can be every thing with a single character just ruined the identity for me. Considering any idiot with half a brain cell can tell which piece of gear is better, the game is downright shallow in its customization.
Stock characters where nothing is unique and everything is the same, macroing system that makes everything so mindbogglingly easy you might as well not be there at all, and a very generic WoW-style combat, un-ironically enough, done much better by the game it wants to be.
And that's not even mentioning the fact the entire game might as well be set in one fucking room. Too many loading screens.
I hate WoW like the fucking plague, but at least it fucking knows what it is. Final Fantasy 14 wants to be WoW as well as re-invent the wheel with allowing your one over-sized bulk of a tank, prance around in a nice dress casting Cures.
The real sadness is that A Realm Stillborn didn't even try THAT many new things. Only about 1 or 2.
And they even fucked that up.
And I loved FF11 to death, so I wanted this shit to be good.
