>>255507109 >isometric shit They said it would be based off infinity engine games, so there ya go >no kickstarter The backers(including myself) have been kept up to date on pillars of eternity since day one and have a lot of input. The same could be done here
>>255507420 >and have a lot of input. Which is why so many people were thrilled with the combat system right? >But we voted And? Plenty of backers were/are pissed off with it. They also would never get the rights, and again. No way in hell would 3 million be enough for a game to be as good as VtMB.
>>255506385 I want everything but the multiplayer, if the series came back I would just be leery of the game being dragged down by something that ambitious. It also needs to be made by a competent team obviously (not having to deal with a shitty publisher would be good too).
WoD MMO was extremely cool conceptually but likely would have failed to be so interesting in actuality.
As far as single player goes, basically take Bloodlines and then throw a fuck ton of money at it so you can have huge areas, almost all clans playable, politics with meaningful decisions, and dress up simulation.
Also, would need to make sure to achieve the right atmosphere in terms of graphics and music, and have Deb of Night return.
AND including some extensive modding tools with the game would be pretty sweet.
>>255508097 Little things like a dev refusing to make Tzimisce antitribu would be the sort of thing that would give me confidence in such a hypothetical project. Also I recommend nWoD with Blood and Smoke, God Machine, and Hunter
>>255507109 If Obsidian pulls off Pillars of Eternity, they'll have a bunch of goodwill to go into another Kickstarter. Plus, they could get some angel investors to chip in money contingent on the success of the Kickstarter. That's how Elite Dangerous got enough funding to be produced.
An always-online game with vampires vs. hunters faction wars going on and vampires can conceal their identities and trick non-faction new players into joining their ranks. Not an MMO, but a focus on online multiplayer.
>>255511648 Hunters are kind of shit, tbh. Isn't there only like one notable hunter ever and he's only known because he killed one vampire, drank its blood, and so he was ghoul'd and capable of actually killing them outside a fluke?
>>255506639 While I do like requiem, there is a certain thing bogging down every WoD game. The White Wolf curse, VTMB was barely able to get release and that was after awful awful shit during development, the Werewolf game just fucking died, the hunter games were almost non existent, and CCP just out right dropped the MMO, it all leads to one thing. The nosferatu are controlling the game industry, the Barrett commission has failed, vampires have won
Scale of New Vegas. Day/night cycle where you have to avoid the Sun (remain indoors, travel in severs, you name it) Writing, mechanics, character system of Bloodlines with less clunky combat. Tons of shit to discover and explore.
>>255518492 To be honest chosing faction shouldn't lock you in it, what if you decide they are full of shit? Sure Camarilla wont look happy about a Tzimisce trying to join their ranks, but im pretty sure things like that have happened, somewhere, some time.
>>255519867 We need to wait for CP2077, see how it handles corpos, all different classes and approaches they offer, different organizations and factions. If they do it right, then they already have most of the work for WoD ready. Just my opinion
Middle ages. Sick of modern day vampire nonsense. Mostly because of WoD I love the setting but if I hear the phrase "I pull out my smart phone" one more time after mentioning the ancient dark secrets I am going to punch someone.
>>255522921 >that feel when I once started a game as a human part of the Giovanni family >that feel when I earned my embrace >that feel when I was able to diablerie my boss because he was stealing money from Giovanni
It's like playing a godfather RPG with a vampire twist.
What I love about vampires are stories where they are discovered by the mainstream, I like the lore of how the world changes (although most novels/gamers/movies do not get into this in depth).
It's the the little things, like new security considerations, people wishing to become vampires, worshiping vampires, hunting vampires, the politics surrounding them, products that cater to them, legal considerations both civil and criminal, citizenship issues, military weaponization of vampires, all of that stuff I love, it's what I like the most about vampires, there's more complexity to their co-habitation with humans then just "there is a monster, we must fight the monster yay it's dead go us".
I especially love lore about vampires secretly (or not so secretly, but obscured over time) playing pivotal roles throughout history.
Even a little bit of that sort've thing is enough for me to buy a game and play it through. Hell i usually buy vampire games sight unseen just hoping that it will be interesting.
Malkavian playthrough that is decepitevly crazy. You only appear a little eccentric with some things off but most things seem normal. Then you do another playthrough as something else and realize you were batshit insane. The realization of just how crazy the malkavian character is shouldn't be apparent either until having done one playthrough as it and another as something else.
>>255515579 Vampires go into torpor during the day, no matter if they're in shelter or not. That would just make it more interesting though, you'd have to find a good place to hide or return to your base every night. (Depending on clan. Gangrel would be easy-tier) Then after you wake up, 12 hours have passed and the game would simulate this, so people will have moved, objects might have been altered, etc.
1) I want to be able to turn NPC's. 2)Day night cycle and environmental physics that fully implement vampire strengths/weaknesses. 3) Aging, maturing, and game-time bonuses for managing to consistently feed for in-game years. Secondary metamorphosis is a plus. 4) Diablerie. I want to become a SUPER vampire if I manage the near impossible task of draining vampires more powerful than me. I'd settle for a temporary power boost, but it'd be better if like, after draining 666 of them or some shit I ascend to progenitor status and become pretty much unkillable.
>>255526686 I think Bloodlines did Malkavian well. At first it just looks randumb fishmalk shit but if you look closely all the different dialogue options follow different patterns, multiple personalities mang.
>>255526868 Oh, and 5) Integrate coffins and mistforms. If I get taken out, and they don't decapitate/stake me (or die from sun/fire damage), I want to have to scramble for my unlife as a spooky mist ghost. If my coffin is destroyed somehow, game turns into ironman mode where I'll be stuck as a ghost forever if I die.
>>255526921 but anon, witcher is based on polish novels by polish author, it's he who makes them so polish, not the devs Like said previously, if they can handle CP2077 - which is -not- polish by definition - they will be able to do WoD.
>>255520536 Yeah, Dark Ages is the best WW setting anyway. It's also more interesting because it allows you to explore the immortal aspect of being a vampire. Imagine chapter one starting ca. 800 AD, then the final chapter near the renaissance
>>255522656 Aye, it'd be sorta like how people murder all the NPCs in Dark Souls. Of course, you'd have to be careful because power levels are not easily determined in WoD. And killing connected vampires would reward you with a blood hunt.
I never liked the idea of Vampire's coming together to form some kind of society, I usually prefer it when it's one single vampire who is either; A) Living in a big dumb castle and preying on defenseless locals B) Living a normal life among other humans, with the exception that they sneak out and drink other people's blood.
I'd love a game where you spend the entire game in a quiet town/village, and the entire point is to establish yourself as a normal guy without allowing all the townsfolk to figure out what was going on and rounding up their torches and pitchforks. Sort of like playing The Sims by day, and Thief by night.
>>255520536 You know that WoD is supposed to be set in early 2000s right? no smartphones, maybe cellphones but no smart phones. or you know you could just say, "there is no signal" might be the god machine just fucking with the players
>>255507782 That depends on what you think makes a game good, if it is graphics and voice acting then you are right, but if it is the dialogue, story, gameplay; then it would be possible, I believe that an isometric vampire game that lets you have multiple companions in the style of old CRPGs would be nice.
>>255520536 I have the Dark Ages VotM book right next to me. It's probably the best form of vampire fiction that exists. So much good shit in it its fucking ridiculous. I really wish they'd do an updated version of Vampire: Redemption. It's better in just about every way to Bloodlines, sans the archaic controls and mechanics. It's also a hell of a lot more faithful to the PnP. Bloodlines is great and all, but I can't help but feel it's overrated. Redemption had better writing, better atmosphere, better plot structure and was way more of an RPG than Bloodlines.
>>255526949 Yeah, summers suck. Canonically, vampires tend to live in areas where it's dark for much of the year. Northern Norway for example would be almost completely devoid of them because the sun stays up the whole night during the summer.
I think the game would have to be set in a winter setting, or at least so the night lasts long and the day is short. Otherwise, it might get too dicey.
>>255515579 Day/night cycles would mean that night's have to be long enough to allow players to get shit done and enjoy themselves, and that there's enough to do underground/wherever the vampire is hiding out that if they can't go into torpor they don't get bored.
At least one Gothic faction, at least one 'modern' twilight-era faction. Both purely cosmetic cliques. A Blade-like cheesy trenchcoat, swords, huge silver and gold pistols etc. would be pretty great too.
>>255528212 Well as someone who has read the novels; while its not written by the author himself it very much reads like him. I read some where that CDPR are not going to write or record dialogues in Poland for CP2077, they will be using local people for their (many) languages and slangs.
We're talking vampire VIDEO games. You can shit fling at each other in /tg/ if you want to argue settings and rulebooks or whatever the fuck.
I for one would enjoy a game where you play as a Dreadlord from WC3. Too bad Bliz is a one trick pony now, once upon a time they would have done some offbeat shit like that. Starcraft Ghost and the like.
>>255527779 Pretty much. I don't get the point with nWoD anyway. If your ST and players aren't retarded, oWoD system works just fine. Only power-gaming faggots who "play to win" appreciate the differences, like how you can use experience points to lower your generation. That shit is straight-up retarded.
>>255523798 Check out the Dark Ages rulebook. It's got a bunch of amazing stories. The book opens up with one of the most interesting vampire tale's I've read to date -- straight up Bram Stoker tier. The Vampire: Redemption game also had some great stories in the game manual. You can get the GoG version which includes them all, plus character cards and a monster manual. All dripping with great shit.
>>255529690 If you visit /tg/ and perhaps their WoD general, maybe they can point you in the right direction?
Anyway, I have a group in real life. It's a bit easier since you already know the people and you know they're not complete psychos. It's also comfy as fuck, and fun since everyone involved is equally into the setting. Seriously the highlight of my week, the days we play. Hope you find something similar bro.
>>255529110 Cronos Bram Stoker's Dracula Dracula (original) Dracula Has Risen From The Grave (and the other Hammer Horror Draculas) Fright Night Fright Night remake Let The Right One In Nosferatu Nosferatu the Vampyre Planet of the Vampires Shadow of The Vampire The Lost Boys Blade 2
>>255505914 If you mean VTM/VTR Vampire, then free roaming gameplay, and the option to make it as potentially lethal as the tabletop version. Otherwise, as long as it keeps to the VTM or VTR atmosphere, it would probably be decent enough to play.
If you mean in general, then Vampires should be low level thugs, with knowledge about them being common and them being afforded little to no respect on the whole, and Werewolves should occur as something between the early Mafia and a highly charitable business; either directly protecting members of their community, or affording them privileges, both due to a strong sense of loyalty fostered by the curse.
>>255530689 >make it as potentially lethal as the tabletop version Yes, this is actually one of my favorite things about tabletop. While blood buffing, even a neonate can take a chunk out of elders. Also some of the disciplines are ridiculously powerful, but since everyone has them, it's like a mexican standoff. Best powers are IMO the out of combat ones. >tfw Majesty and suddenly everyone is your bitch
>>255530791 Well, the UK should have an active WoD scene, our ST is from there actually.
Again, try /tg/. They can be very helpful sometimes and many people are from the UK. Otherwise perhaps search around on the net for groups in your area? I know it's all about luck, so it may not be of much help, but I hope you find what you're looking for.
>>255531913 Terrible. The "vampires" look retarded and too many terrible sidestories that nobody in their right mind care about. >muh custody rights!
Also, terrible, TERRIBLE dialogue >it's like a building with wings! I never realized how BIG planes were! :D:D:D:D
The premise is interesting: Antediluvian lands in NYC and starts Gehenna. But the execution falls flat on its face.
And honestly, it's just really really cheesy. Too many cliches and predictable shit, as well as overall stupidity by the majority of characters, like some dude getting parasites all over himself even though he's supposed to be a CDC expert and all. It just ruins it.
The Sabbat function outside the confines of Humanity as guiding factor of staving off The Beast. That and everything would devolve into "The Vaulderie makes you go do the fetch quest for the bishop."
>Multiplayer CCP won't get enough Nord Shekels to make a WoD game with multiplayer outside of an MMO. I'd end up being something like a cross between Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and Halo. A WoD deathmatch multiplayer just seems cheap and out of place.
What like the Salubri? Or bullshit like the Baali and Blood Brother?
Disciplines could be better incorporated into superhuman effects rather than being limited to the table top effects yeah. Celerity could really make you feel like you faster by slowing everything down. Potence could have you ripping doors out of their frames. Auspex could really shine by showing auras.
That goes without saying.
>It'd be great if someone made an MMO with all these features, it'd be one of the most exciting games on the horizon.
CCP would die rather than eat the big fat crow that would served up by what ever publisher released a WoD MMO.
The best we can hope for is another title akin to Bloodlines.
I'd like to see a game that really incorperated diablerie in a very direct player choice way rather than the abstract thought way Bloodlines did. That a player could have the choice or maybe forced to diablerize an elder or even their sire.
>yfw CCP is a bunch of clusterfucks who've had to cut their company in half after Dust514 went tits up >yfw WhiteWolf is now a subsidiary of CCP due to a buy out >yfw WhiteWolf thought the merger would bring them a success like EVE, only in the WoD setting >yfw CCP squandered the opportunity, fucked everything up and now are sitting on the IP >yfw CCP/WhiteWolf slowly rot and fade away >yfw CCP never do anything with the WoD setting, or let anyone else do anything with the setting either >yfw there will never be another Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
>>255531764 Ah, well the source books themselves are pretty cool, I must admit. But actually playing is amazing. It just offers so much freedom compared to any video game, at least if you have a competent storyteller. I'm almost surprised it's not more popular, though I suppose it requires a brain and several like-minded people in one place.
>>255532792 >That and everything would devolve into "The Vaulderie makes you go do the fetch quest for the bishop." This is why a game based on Dark Ages would be best. All clans playable, no faction bullshit. More liberal usage of disciplines because of no masquerade.
>What like the Salubri? Or bullshit like the Baali and Blood Brother? Again, Dark Ages affords you this much more easily, and the other cool clans like Cappadocians instead of Giovanni, etc.
>isciplines could be better incorporated into superhuman effects rather than being limited to the table top effects yeah lol wut? It's like the complete opposite though. In tabletop, they're often used creatively. In Bloodlines, Disciplines are super-limited. >Auspex could really shine by showing auras Auspex is ridiculously more useful in tabletop. Astral projection and all kinds of spooky shit. Toreador fucking GOAT clan, god damn.
>rather than the abstract thought way Bloodlines did Did Bloodlines have diablerie at all even?
>>255533472 I know, and Interview is also a great book, but her later novels and her fandom were Twilight before Twilight. (I think Vampire Lestat was also a good book, but it's been ages since I read it)
>>255533125 Yeah, to go back on what I said, the sourcebooks are sometimes waaay too grimdark and edgy for my tastes. I prefer when the vampires are evil because it makes sense for them, but not because they're just "HEHEHEH SO EVIL" sadistic.
At least in my group, most vampires are just people. Monsters, sure, but few of them are evil just for the sake of it.
>>255533567 >most political elements of it was based on the Anne Rice novels Really? Not him, but I got the impression that the Anne Rice vampires were a lot more uncommon than in WoD. Like in Interview, Louis spends AGES trying to find other vampires before he comes across the dudes in Paris.
>>255513562 No, its just the concept of Hunters was kind of dumb to begin with.
Edges didn't make any sense and it was because "Nature is balancing itself".
A hunter if you think about it is weak. He's still a mortal. A vamp can just upload CP to your laptop and get you thrown in prison. A werewolf just skullfucks you because it's a 9 foot tall killing machine that just gets a raging rape boner after you empty an entire Mac 10 magazine into it. A mage just wiggles his fingers and fills your lungs with molten lead.
>>255534017 Yes, but Tzimisce would be SO fucking awesome to play as. You'd have access to the character creator whenever, and should be able to adjust your height and stuff too, to make some really freaky-looking characters. Damn, I want this game so badly now.
nWOD Hunters are basically just humans, but this is reflected in the game. You have to gang up on your target and do everything right, even then you're liable to lose a guy or two if its not a comparative pushover.
Also, mage? That would be a very bad thing for a mage to try. Paradox is a bitch.
call me a faggot, but I would really like a vampire game set in one of the large warhammer fantasy cities. You get the intrigue between different vampire bloodlines but you also have to be careful about not letting the people of the city know about you because they are well aware of the existence of vampires and all to happy the hunt you down.
>>255535001 Vigil? NWOD? No, its pretty fucking awesome.
Its just that they would have to fuck it out of all recognition to make a profit on it because not enough people like playing a game where 95% of enemies are stronger, faster, and more powerful than you.
>>255535169 That would be H;TR, which is where they had super powers.
>>255535231 Some of them have backing and are organized. But your average hunter is a guy on the streets who happened to see something he shouldn't or notice a weird ass chain of events, convince his friends something is going on, and then bust out the shotguns for some vigilante justice. With most of them dying in the process.
There are large groups, but you really shouldn't play a game with one of those.
>>255535821 Nah. They're slow and predictable. H:tV game would be sort of like trying to take Black-Suit Spiderman down as a street gang in the dark, except that if you manage to take him down you get attacked by his angry creator whose faster, stronger, and can make your blood boil in your veins.
For it not to turn into a shitty shooter around halfway through the game. I mean if it's gotta be shooting at least make the enemies not bullet sponges, especially the regular mortal humans I mean goddamn Troika. You slipped and it killed you.
>>255505914 As long as they don't turn it into a team deathmatch/first-person moba type shit like they did with Nosgoth I'll be fine with it even if it turns out to be mediocre. By the gods why did Square Enix butcher such a wonderful series with that series rape?
>>255534017 >not Tzimisce Antitribu >Literally everyone hates you >Sabaat consider you a race traitor and an elder pawn >>Camarilla are suspicious as fuck >> Anarchs doubly suspicious of creepy monster vamp claiming to be human
Obsidian has the people who made the bloodlines in their studio. Tim cain and josh sawyer have proven they can produce amazing atmospheric games. Without greedy activision breathing down their backs they could make a true spiritual successor to VtM:B.
>>255540065 What do you think Dynasty Warriors and similar games are? If you'd paid attention in history class you'd remember hearing about flamboyant historical figures butchers thousands with oversized weapons.
>>255529690 >>255530171 I actually don't like going to /tg/ for WoD players, especially for OWoD players, so many of them are major lore fags and rule lawyers even when they aren't in the DM position. I'd love to play a WoD game right now and half of my group has fallen through on some shit, but it's NWoD and it's a hunter campaign. But I could definitely switch to Vampire if needed I could find a group that actually WANTS to play
>>255543390 >Thinking that age is a dettrement I've been playing WoD since I was 14 in my edgelord days, gotten to be a good DM for it but I can never find players anymore, I am still pretty fucking young compared to you, and my biggest problem is finding players that are willing to take the games seriously
>>255543837 Seriously? I have DMed for groups that had such massive differences in people, I've had games run with a actual KKK member and a Black kid I knew from school. Did they argue outside of the game? Fuck yes they did, but I was able to get them to sit down and play a game for over 6 hours straight every week, they were some of the best RPers and holy fuck, they ended up being pretty okay with eachother after these games. People need to just know when to sit down and play a game, drop prejudice, drop preconceptions, just sit down and play the game. If the player is causing a lot of shit, bring it up with the DM, I kick players out that aren't willing to just play the game, I've thrown away SO many mary sue characters, so many Pedo fuel characters and SO FUCKING MANY edge lord characters.
