>WoW is dead >Still booming despite no content for a fucking year and WoD looking like the worst expansion yet >Dead
>Wildstar >People were fly hacking in beta and they didn't do anything about it, lo and behold game is plagued with bots from day 1 >40 man raids to please people who didn't actually play in Vanilla and just pretend they did for internet street cred >So innovashun we put red circles on our AoE spells! >Ur so f**kin casual CUPCAKE, y dont u go get an EPIC TRIPLE KILL
>>255500997 >be lvl 30 >In Acension valley for lord knows what reason >See a giant labyrinth >Enter Labyrinth >Fuck huge place, don't know where I am going >Tons of teleporters everywhere but don't have the stuff to use them >Leave feeling satisfied that I will be able to go through there despite my own disappointment.
I have gone out of the map several times and it has been interesting. Unfortunately, most the time I get glitched the fuck out and can't teleport out.
>It's not nostalgia carrying me either, the game is actually good
>Vanilla WoW >Each class only has one spec that actually functions (Other than Warriors) >PvP is a race to see who can one shot the other first >Naxx >FUCKING NAXX >YOU NEED 8 WARRIORS TO TANK A BOSS >AND THEY ALL NEED AT LEAST 4 PIECES OF DREADNOUGHT BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN TRY >Good
Not the same guy you replied to, but I don't have any problem with people enjoying themselves on a private server. But claiming Vanilla was actually good and worth playing today? Naw son.
>>255499861 Try a little under five months away. WoD isn't close to done and because they promised they'd release it this year with a deadline of mid December, it's going to be released terribly unfinished with a ton of cut content and half-done features, to the point of having to patch in zones on the main landmass.
>>255501916 >>Each class only has one spec that actually functions (Other than Warriors) >rogue has several popular talent builds that are each different >warlock can destro or affliction >paladin can make an effective tank or off tank in one spec with another spec making a solid tanky-dps for pvp >enhc shamans have highest DPS output possible but reliant on rng, can go caster or healer >Druid can jack of all trades or specialize >Mage can actually tank with the right build, or solo high level content
Right about priest. So you either sucked at the game or never played anything but priest.
>waah >a dungeon is hard!
God forbid you have to work to go fight the most powerful lich in existence.
>play wildstar beta >2fps on a i5 4670k gtx770 >no targeting for heals >having to line up a pencil dick cast to heal other idiots >no healers at all >teleporting harvest bots kill economy after 2 weeks what a ghastly game
I'm playing FFXIV and actually enjoying it, much to my surprise. I'm probably going to get Summoner tonight. I decided to go Summoner before I'd played the game, and after seeing the Summons in game I'm really disappointed. Hopefully they change the implementation later. At least we know they're not afraid of a re-do
I got wildstar a few weeks ago, and I haven't touched it in days. I got to like lvl 17 and I REALLY wanted to get to the end game because the raids look fun but: >You can't get excited by gear. You will only ever have one type of weapon with minor art changes. >the overhead map is shit and hard to identify things >The rebels main city is so fucking annoying to run around I want to care about it, I enjoyed the free 7 days I got and then 2 weeks later all my love for it died. I am thinking of going back to WoW. Unless anyone else has a game for me to try, which doesn't involve dropping $50. Hell I would rather go pay for Ultima online than play wildstar now. Looking forward to trying EQ Next
>>255505059 just stopped for 2 - 3 weeks cause of steam sales. I think thats where a lot of the people left from. They bought loads of games during the steam sales and wanna play them and forget about playing wildstar.
>Know this group of people I went to school with. >They're excited for TOR. >They ask me if I'm going to play it, I say no, they ask why, I say it looks like it'll probably suck, they say "no fucking way, it looks great! It's WoW with a Star Wars skin!" >Some of them play the beta then didn't touch it after release, some didn't play at all, others played it for less than a month after it came out. >They hype up TES:O and got it, don't know how long they played it for or if they still play it, hardly talk to them.
>Have a group of people from my WoW server when I played vanilla, we talk often and play vidya together. >They're hyped up for Wildstar, play the beta, say it's the best MMO since vanilla WoW and tell me that I should play with them. >They all quickly lose interest in it.
>>255509705 same goes for me. I was waiting for blade and soul for 2 years and then this piece of shit showed up. I thought it might give me a good time for a month or two but I ended up with level 14 and had fps drops to below 30 with a gtx 780ti
>>255510448 Honestly, I really liked Wildstar. Dungeons being challenging again was great. What wasn't great, however, was the fucking attunement quest since it required you to do the dungeons pretty much perfectly. Which no one wanted to repeat after doing that once, since the loot you get there is a pretty small upgrade. Also, they clearly released too early. It took them about two months to patch the most annoying stuff (although I can only talk for Espers, since I played one) and make the game seem somewhat complete. Performance being ass doesn't help, either.
>>255512340 >Dungeons >Challenging Honestly, I never found them challenging on my Stalker. DPSing was piss easy, dodging was piss easy, and I had to offtank a few times when the tank couldn't dodge the easy to dodge AoE.
The only challenging part was the attunement. But it was only challenging because the game was so poorly balanced and pretty much required warrior stacking for their OP as fuck damage buff.
And yeah, the class design in general was just ass. No variety, all DPS play essentially the same, you can't even look unique because how the armor is set up: everyone just ends up looking like a giant bright colored blob.
>>255512907 Well maybe i used the wrong choice of words but something about it to me gave me that good feeling of playing an MMO when i was a kid. Same level of hype when i started runescape 10 or so years ago.
>>255512949 The last dungeons I've ran were some early dungeons in FFXIV and WoW dungeons. Compared to those, Wildstar's at least require you to play well. Sure, they aren't really that hard, but doing them with random groups is much more of a horror than, fuck, I don't know, WoW Cata HCs.
I still can't get over people who pretend they played in Vanilla just cause they think it makes them cool.
>One 'friend' I had in WoW, more of an acquaintance really >Didn't do anything in Vanilla >Would farm MC, BWL etc to get gear, then put level appropriate enchants on them, even going as far to get the ZG Head/Shoulder enchants just so he could pretend he got them in Vanilla >Eventually end up raiding with him in Cata >He petitions a GM, saying our guild name is offensive so he can change it into an EPIC 4chains maymay name >Leaves like a week later because he didn't get a helmet from Alysrazor
>>255513226 I feel bad for WoW, they will always be judged based on Cata: which was unquestionably shit, but it's been getting better since those dark times.
That said, I had more of a challenge doing WoW challenge mode dungeons than I did beating the time in the Wildstar dungeons. The challenge mode was about proper cooldown usage, dodging shit, and proper potion usage.
Wildstar attunement is about spamming buffs as fast as you can, and if you fail, going and grinding what gear you can and going back.
>>255513317 Wildstar is more like WotLK WoW in its systems but it does have some vanilla WoW design philosophies-- the worst ones anyways.
>read posts about people hyping up 40-man raids >mfw the people who liked them either never organized them or were part of the 20 or so shitters that were carried through the entire raid >mfw right now guilds like Death & Taxes are telling Carbine to tone them down to 20 because this game is dead and can't get recruitment going as people leave this grindfest
I fucking called it way before beta but everyone was like "MUH VANILLA NOSTALGIA"
>>255502812 >to the point of having to patch in zones on the main landmass. If you're talking about tanan jungle the zone itself is complete, it just lacks anything to do outside of the 5 or so quests at lvl 90, so like crystal song. It's still bullshit that they have to cut/delay features but try to not talk out of your ass.
>>255513757 >Wildstar attunement is about spamming buffs as fast as you can, and if you fail, going and grinding what gear you can and going back.
Or straight up exploiting stuff, like I did
>jumping on terrain to reach Stormtalon >bugging terrain on the last two bosses of KV to avoid bot following/bullet hell mechanics >terrain glitching on last boss of SC so that you can literally auto-attack it without having to jump or move at all >all the fucking trash skipping in SSM
Dungeons in Wildstar are utter shite and the added timer just make them a slogfest. Even when we got to raiding most of my guild just quit due to burnout.
>>255514201 Apparently they recently announced that they were also going to do weekly questlines. As in, new questlines each week. And unlike GW2, they won't disappear completely if you miss them.
When it comes to Tanaan jungle: they wrote themselves into a corner. They didn't want to kill off the Iron Horde at the start of the expansion, but they also needed somewhere for them to go. Tanaan Jungle is that place. So they either had to make a zone that they knew they'd have to completely redo, or just hold off for a later patch.
>>255515517 It's almost August, and my personal bet is that it'll be out in October or November. This is solely a hunch, and not really based on first-hand impressions. I really want to get into the beta to see how far along they are for myself, but holy fucking shit Blizzard doesn't want to give me a key. They got me into Hearthstone and HotS alphas/betas early (hell, I was in HotS alpha the second week), but they refuse to get me one for the game I really care about.
>>255506441 I'll never understand how Teleporting is defended in Open world games, even MMOs. If it's a portal spell you need reagents for? Awesome. but the way they handle it in games now is just awful, completely taking away from exploration and adventure which is a huge point of MMORPGs and RPGs in general.
Though to be fair, FFXIV is as streamlined and casual as any MMORPG can EVER be.
>>255518156 Correction, there are enough people to make the game look active because the server is set up that way. Its a good setup honestly. But it in no way means that the game isnt dying, just that they are a lot better at hiding it.
>>255518156 Isn't it still new as fuck? honestly, even a bad MMO will have a large amount of players for a few months, that's nothing new. FFXIV had a ton of players at launch, TOR had a ton, TERA and so on. It's still a shit game.
