Tree of Savior thread.
Centurion looks like best class ever:
A lot of the abilties look aimed from what I've seen. Some do lock on though. Combat looks a ton of like Ragnarok Onlines at the same time.
It's the spiritual successor.
Holy fuck, dat Centurion. I'm really glad they're including so many classes, since that means that a lot of them are going to have some pretty crazy shit like that to make them different. It looks like finding the right combination of classes is going to be an interesting challenge.
I'm really liking the devs. It's really nice to see a western dev actually responds to the westerns community and decides fuck it and is going to release an international version too. And if I'm not mistaken, around the same time as the Korean launch too right?
Apparently you don't play the game with a mouse at all.
Centurion is a class that has the ability to control other player's characters when they walk onto the formation platforms.
Once this happens, a number of things can happen (so far introduced are "winged forrmation", which allows the ability to circle a big boss unit to allow for maximum damage in the front line, and "phalanx" which temporarily gathers all Blocking stats to the players in the first row allowing for maximum blocking against multiple enemies).
They have potential when mixed and matched with other classes to be a really interesting lead support class.
Hard to say, one thing I'm certain about, is that Centurion can guide others while in formation, switch formations and that each formation has some sort of buff placed on it. You can see different symbols when they split up for the arrowhead-like formation and a different one when they stay together
Gimme a minute
>T-Minus six months until this gets close enough to release for /v/ to really focus on it and start running it into the ground for no good reason like it's the next TORtanic
Gee, can't wait. On a lighter note, still no word on the payment model?
Q) I have a question on costumes. Do the costumes exist for collection purpose or dressing purpose? Or maybe do they exist to add some options to the characters?
A) In TOS, each costume makes your character look different from the others. Therefore, they are different from the armors which have defensive attributes. Even if you don’t wear the costume that you newly obtained in the game and stay in the previous costume, there will be no disadvantage in terms of stats. Exclusive costumes for each class can be obtained from Class Master NPC when you advance your class to higher class.
DRESS UP TIME
Jesus. Chronomancer can bring back to live allies but also monsters if you use the skill in a wrong moment, that really adds up a giant layer of tactic required for things like healing and reviving. I wonder if bosses can be revived this way too, that would make Chrono pretty OP
I swear to fucking god they better have interesting/unique outfits to choose from if I can't make a punchy class and throw on a banchou outfit I'm going to be pissed ass fuck.
a group of sadhus let a centurion take control of them
this will let the centurion keep the bodies safe and let them do a bit of damage while their stands go gung ho
Then you have a chronomancer on the wings speeding up the stands with an emergency time rewind if things get hairy
This game has so many cool looking classes that could synergize well
First we need to know if a punchy class in there at all
>Not having a fist user
Please have him be unique in some way
Anyway, the bit about Pyro
Fire attacks inflict continuous damages on monsters so it is useful to use this class when you are facing multiple enemies. “Fire Wall”, which you can place it on the ground, can be used using directional keys when you draw a wall on the ground while casting this skill.
“Fireball” can be moved around by attacking it directly from short ranges so it will be useful in many ways when you are in party.
What if you're a centurion, and you're like "I'll level your characters for 30 minutes for a certain amount of money", or if you have several friends and one of them is a centurion and levels everyone at the same time? Wouldn't that be kinda like botting?
Or items, that's what I mean. Chrono has a potential to become OP and required class for any party to have and not because he can ressurect allies. I'm really fucking hyped, everyone is pointing out(and the devs in their small descriptions too) how each class has something to work with other characters. They are really making party play important, Centurion, Pyro, Thaumaturge and Chrono seem like the kind of classes that benefit greatly from parties rather than soloing
Yeah, but apparently most classes have requirements to unlock, and some will be pretty hard to unlock.
Also it's likely each class has it's own level, enjoy grinding up 80 different classes or however many this game has. (Reminder: This is a korean MMO made by the same people who made RO, where it could take you a week to earn 1% of the exp needed to reach the next level)
The problem with having 80 classes is that the skill tree will suffer as a result I believe. How do we know if the skill tree will be good? Cause so far we only see videos in which each class uses about...3 skills or less.
Not to mention everything looks slow. Why can't they up the animation speeds by 1.2x to make the game more fast and interesting?
Not possible. It's a law that Korean games require players to have a KSSN. If it's a Korean server it's located in Korea and required to follow Korean law.
Why does every class need 80 skills in a MMO?
I remember the first time I played WoW. I was a Warlock with about 60 abilities and a screen full of buttons and bars.
With one or two exceptions, I basically used 3 abilities ever.
Wait, you CAN switch classes? The second question here got me confused
Q) Are there skill trees in the game?
A) Most of the skills are exposed without any requirements, but a few skills that are related to the other skills can be learned after training those other skills first. As I told you before, it is possible to train your existing class instead of advancing your class to higher class. When you do that, new skills and attributes can be learned.
Q) After advancing my class to higher class, is it possible to go back to the previous class?
A) You advance your class to learn new skills so even if you advance your class to higher class, the skills that you have learned will not disappear.
It is also possible to wear the costumes that your previous class used to wear after advancing your class to higher class.
>Most skills accesible from the beggining
MY FUCKING DICK. There will be no situations where you grind to learn a new skill and then it turns out it's shit. You get most of your arsenal right away
Guys, I think i might have found a fatal flaw in the Centurion's design:
you need friends to form up with ;_;
>Ys ripoff with 0.000000000001@ speed
And how does the mentioned before class unlocking go? Like, leveling two classes unlock another one or you have some special tasks to do or what?
>mfw they make a combo of Pyro and fist user
The method is different for every class. But you'll have to discover a quest, do some stuff and then unlock the class.
Apparently some classes will be very difficult and time consuming to unlock, and others will be hidden in hard to find locations.
It seems like a game where everyone is generally pretty mediocre by themselves, but every one can attain godhood if you join to create the ideal party.
Which is awesome.
There are hidden classes in the game, I'm probably going to say that a good amount of classes will be utility/novelty classes with niche roles, so that's how they balance it.
From what we've seen so far, every class is unique and has their own little niche they fill. They might not have many skills (we don't know yet), but they have some of the most interesting and unique skills I've ever seen in a MMO.
? “Linker” either links characters together or monsters together
The monsters that are linked together will receive damages or de-buffs simultaneously. These monsters can be pulled and gathered at one place to help other players to attack them easier. When Linker links allies together, the effects from potions or buffs can be shared each other and the damages received by monsters can be reduced.
? “Psychokino” is a class which uses psychokinesis for its skills.
It can attack the monsters directly using psychokinesis or it can pull and align the monsters in one line. This skill will be very useful when playing in a party. It can also use “telekinesis” to change monsters’ locations and it can make monsters to collide each other to inflict damages on them.
I noticed these two would work really well together, a class that can manipulate enemy placement, and a class that can link enemies. Imagine linking 5 enemies and then having your Psycho friend tossing one into a wall
>killing xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx darkness to unlock xXxsasukefucknarutoxXx class
>collecting xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx pointy objects to unlock OntheEdge class
QUALITY korea garbage
>People complaining about skill amount
This game is taking a route similar to games like DotA.
Instead of having 4 classes with 100 abilities each and very general roles, it is going to have 100 classes with 4 abilities each with each class fulfilling a highly specific role.
I don't think you understand. Having a good skill tree makes the classes more customizable based on what you want to do with your build. In RO you had choices on where to take your class.
Those fireball weapons. Fucking awesome.
Stop responding to shitposters
>Monk class belongs to Cleric type classes. Fist is used in skills, but separate knuckle item does not exist. Instead, it will apply the equipped item’s stats on its skills.
Oh shit there is a monk after all. I'd rather have him be completly weaponless if knuckles don't exist, it would be weird wielding a sword yet hitting with bare fists....Shit, Monk might get the short end of the stick
>In RO you had choices on where to take your class.
No you didn't RO classes had a lot of skills, but most had 2 viable builds max. Some had 1.
Most MMOs are the same. You might gain access to 100 abilities by the time you reach max level, but you'll use 10 of them or less (and only a tiny hand full regularly).
What's the point in having a class with all those abilities they never use? Why not just remove them, or make another class and give it those abilities? That is the design decision made in this game.
I think he's talking about the Skill system, IE: you have a limited amount of skills but equipment, positioning, and group-composition will provide most of the variety in gameplay.
>"eh, seems pretty basi-"
>TILE BASED FIRE WALL
>DAT FIREBALL SLAPPING AROUND
Could you make it any more obvious that you haven't even heard of RO?
Go play some Sanic, kid.
Exactly. Each class will probably have a very limited amount of skills, but the skills they have access to will all be unique and make this class totally different from other classes.
You wont just get 20 DPS classes, 20 tanks and so on. Each DPS class will have something that makes them play differently and unique from other DPS classes.
Can you really say that there exists an MMO that has classes like Centurion (which allows you to control other player characters) and Quarrel Shooter that specializes in cross-bow shooting while equipping a shield to allow for more strategic long-based combat?
It's better than in RO where half the time you couldn't use Fists because of their shitty size modifiers.
But I agree completely, weaponless would be ideal. Though that is theoretically difficult to balance.
Q) I really want dual long swords.
A) There was an opinion inside our development team to allow certain classes to equip a weapon on left hand. This has not been confirmed yet, so if we decide to allow it, then we will introduce this to you in the future.
We always check your opinions, cheers, and diverse messages that you send us via Facebook and the other sources and they really help us a lot. We really want to say thank you to ya all.
I know you guys hate SAO and Kirito but I do hope they add this, a Blader is oftenly seen in mmo's
Oh shit, you are a korean CBT players? You know how bad the game is? No? Then shut your whore mouth, or fill it with a dick, no one wants your bitching when you clearly don't know shit
There will be Korean and English servers. It's to be expected that the English servers will always be behind.
KSSN aren't hard to find anyway. If you don't know Korean, you're better off not playing the Korean one.
Not really, have the class gain more strenght with each level than most classes, have his STR=ATK ratio higher than others classes. Make it so every bit of strenght you can get on him counts and makes a considerable change
Isn't that most video games though?
When's the last time you played an MMO?
Certainly you've at least associated with said players in MMO.
They don't have to be your real life friends in order to play with them and communicate.
Linker looks OP as fuck:
>Have the ability to quintuple any Single DPS ability
Actually I completely change my mind. After watching the official trailer again I realize that most of the demonstrations and stuff is early game monsters and shit. It still might be fun. But the skill tree still worries me.
I want a Brawler Mage, damnit. Like, instead of just lobbing magic at someone to do damage, using magic to facilitate beating the fuck out of things.
Like, for instance, firey fists, or uppercutting someone into the air and having a lightning bolt bring them back down. Or using teleportation magic to ping-pong someone with your kicks.
FUCK, there's too many to choose from.
I can't get over the artstyle, I really liked RO for it and I'm not sure it can replicate the atmosphere.
>going to Niflheim, spooky ghosts
>going to Yuno, that feel of magic
Fucking memorable places.
>There is an option to switch between different languages for both text and dialogue.
So far there's Korean, English, Japanese.
They're probably going to make end-game monsters anal raping hard, like Thor's Volcano anal raping hard.
This guy knows whats up.
You could technically build any class any way you wanted.
Doesn't mean it'd be good.
Take the knight class.
If you were smart you took bowling bash.
Its your hardest hitting single target and mobbing skill.
Brandish spear was useless by comparison.
But on top of this you had to take a dozen prerequisites for bowling bash, most of which are useless skills, even two hand sword quicken because the game favors shields so much that there's just no point in using two hand swords.
If you're playing a wizard, you might have to make the choice of lord of vermillion or meter storm, that's pretty much their hardest decision despite the class having one of the biggest pool of skills/spells to choose from.
I never understood this mindset. Who cares if there's a best build, as long as other builds can complete content? I'm the kind of person who likes making off-the-wall builds. When a game forces strict progression with "well there's just be one best build anyway" as an argument it always fucking pisses me off
More choice is better, regardless of tiers
Q) Are there any limits on where I can go? For example, are there any places that I can’t go before I reach certain level?
A) We are trying to allow players to move freely except for a few specific cases. However, if a player enters a map which requires high level, then it will be hard to play on that map.
> as long as other builds can complete content?
The problem is that in party-centric MMOs, this becomes impossible.
"You're not a <class>? You can't be in our guild/party"
"You're using <skill>? What a noob!"
"Don't group with <player> he has shit skills"
Minmaxers ruin games.
not him, but yeah I completely agree. for instance in WoE it mades sense to go complete damage if you're going asura strike monk sicne you wanna drop whatever you're hitting to the lowest possible hp. but just for fun you can go out casually with a combo build for leveling/hunting for shit. the asura strike build was clearly superior for many situations but for farming cards and mobs it was completely overkill. so the combo build was still very much viable.
>fondest gaming memory was an RO rip off
>tight knit community
>everyone knew everyone
>still friends with a few guild mates even though the game is long dead
>someone makes facebook group for people who played the game
>8 years later I still recognize a lot of these names
>everyone is excited to reconnect with old friends
>a few people bringing up this game
I don't know if I want to get burned by another MMO that just ends up dying prematurely. I can't take that heartbreak again.
>If you're playing a wizard, you might have to make the choice of lord of vermillion or meter storm, that's pretty much their hardest decision despite the class having one of the biggest pool of skills/spells to choose from.
Storm Gust was better unless you were messing with ice MVPs.
>Full WoE support
>Full PvE support (w/ Endows)
It's not our fault you play the least varied classes.
What kind of shit MMOs have you been playing? 10 or less? In the MMO I've recently been hooked on, I use somewhere around 30 regularly in PvP, with another 15 or so more that only get used in PvE and 5 that never get used.
Having a lot of abilities gives many options to possible rotations and different ways to handle multiple situations. It's beautiful, really, and even if there are cookie cutter builds, the way each person handles having so many abilities at hands creates its own diversity among players, weeding out those that cannot handle such a large skillset and situational awareness.
>gives many options to possible rotations and different ways to handle multiple situations.
You got the second part right.
But in no way does more abilities give you are more diversified rotation. Everything past your 5-10 main abilities will just be situationals or CDs.
>weeding out those that cannot handle such a large skillset and situational awareness.
You clearly are living in your own little world when you play those MMOs, because almost no one has troubles handling large skillsets. Everybody will minmax everything and act the same by endgame.
Can I be bomberman in this, were there any job that related to explosive?
>Everybody will minmax everything and act the same by endgame.
Sadly. I really don't even understand the mindset to wake up in the morning and reduce a game to its base values. I don't mind it when its done to promote balance, but beyond that is unnecessary.
>tfw it will be pay2win as fuck like literally every single korean mmo
At least private servers for it might come out eventually eventually. But those are pay2win as fuck too.
That's why I didn't list it as a choice.
Its just assumed every wizard has it, because really, what the fuck else are you going to take in its place that's even half as good.
Though meteor storm can potentially be the best mvp killer spell in their arsenal thanks to magic strings, meteor storm being able to stack on itself and no after cast animation.
Still, those situations are few and far between.
