But neither of them are as poorly written as the ones in BW. They had an actually good base (that pokemon training is essentially cockfighting) but handled it in such an offensively stupid and infantile way. Since they couldn't actually come up with an excuse for why cockfighting is good that isn't "it makes for fun gameplay", they just defaulted to some nonsensical friendship bullshit and made all the villains cackling cartoon guys that didn't go a single sentence without bragging about how evil they are, just so you wouldn't think that they really do have a point.
