I think they were trying to be every jRPG at once, including HMH. And it kinda failed.

I mean... there were Final Fantasy references, Chrono Trigger references, Dragon Quest references, TLoH references (it's the name of the final fucking story quest!)... Anime references too, now that I think about it.

I'll admit that I still enjoyed it, and the map creation is fun... but it's waaaay different from the first game. Nowhere near the same, and the puzzle dungeons were horrible. Demon Maze was fucking horrible, and then near the end they had to instakill mobs that basically made the whole thing 10x more tedious.

At least the music was good.

There are now. Xseed have only licensed 1-3. They will not be localizing them unless SC and 3rd are MASSIVE successes on Steam. I can't say I'm exactly fluent, but it's helped immensely. The games use simple sentences, and it's pretty easy to piece together what people should be saying given the context, which is great for beginners. The only somewhat difficult thing about the text is the kanji it uses sometimes, and with a text hooker that's not a problem at all. Just don't expect to understand everything completely at first if you do try.

There is only one Kiseki game translated, so I wouldn't go talking like you know anything about the series.

Also the translation ruins the game. The point is that a large amount of the dialogue is kanji-only and in fact often conflicts with the accepted patterns of kanji usage. There is no way to preserve this in a translation short of leaving translator's notes on every line, so Kiseki should have never been translated to begin with. Especially since dumbass westerners like you who don't understand it can now play it with a shitty Xseed translation and bash the game for not conforming to their misguided preconceived notions.

This game is not for you, it's not for any of you, so stop playing it and stop acting like you know anything about it.

To be even more blunt about it, Kiseki is for expert JRPG players only. Do not play this unless you are interested in metafiction and bending the game medium itself.
