Pretty vanilla/gay answers but those are probably the zones I spent the most time in and impacted me the most. I played a lot on an RP server at like 13.
Part of me will always love farming bees outside Bastok for the whatevers I needed to grow the rare crystal plant thing that was worth a lot.
FFXI... that was a good game to wander around in.
Icecrown (WoW) when I entered this zone I felt like I wasn't safe and that a powerful presence awaited for me
Night elves and undead
Nagrand, it had some awesome WPVP that wasn't just ganking each other, and the quests/critters were all very enjoyable
I can tell you it's not elves
I served on the ground in Vietnam from '68-'69
I loved the shit out of it.
My grandson wanted to play this game called world of warcraft back in '07 and I wanted to get closer to him so I bought him a copy and join him. I could barely use the mouse when I started but Tom showed me the way.
I enjoyed the fuck out of STV the most.
I don't have a favourite really
durotar music, it's the most nostalgic
Zone: Cantha. I know it is a whole continent, suck my dick I dont give a shit.
Race: Blood elf / Night elf. Not actually a fan of them in wow but I loved their WC3 campaigns.
Music: This. Very Tim Burton esque, and the fact it is a song not just music. hearing it in game for the first time was quite an experience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2oxO129TJI
Pic related too, my current MMO character
In WoW, before Cata you could follow the coastline of Arathi Highlands. If you kept following it up the right coastline you'd leave the zone and would eventually, if you kept going, go off the map and end up under the Ghostlands. Continuing onward you would eventually find a small island with a boat and a small house, but nothing else. That was a cozy fucking place because nobody knew about it due to taking a while to get there and it not being an intended area (I guess). You can't get there anymore last time I checked due to invisible walls, but that was my favorite place.
Fuck WoW now though.
I served many years keeping the roads safe. Taking down hostiles both big and small. I'll never experience these thrills again.
Zone: Old Sebilis. Goddamn, what a fucking zone that was. Tons of great fights and loot and pretty high demand for my class, Enchanter. Only downside: tended to be heavily camped at the height of Kunark.
Race: High Elf
>tfw the only one who remember Earth Eternal
Dustshore - Earth Eternal
Pandawa - Wakfu
Bremen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIgM1F5aTf8
1. Blood Elf Starting Zone from Burning Crusades.
2. Never been a big race person, don't really care.
3. Gridania zone theme from ARR, so fucking cozy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSKNntvdRJk
Don't have one
>inb4 called furfag
Any race that resembles a dragon or cat person thing.
>favorite music piece
Requiem from Rusty Hearts
the music that plays in the hub world was comfy as fuck too.
Still get shivers listening to this song.
So many memories ; ; why aren't there any mmos like this anymore
from Aion - Dem glorious White wings and best capital city ever, also has the hottest girls.
Sarutabaruta from FFXI, sometimes I listen to it just to remember being young and grinding Bees for Wind Crystal stacks.
I still feel a sense of relief when I hear this. That feeling of seeing Tavnazia for the first time after Promyvion and years of watching the CG intro was something else.
I was deep in for Vanilla, Kunark, and Velious.
Like most from-release-day Enchanters, by the end of Velious I was hugely disillusioned and left. They couldn't figure out how to balance the class and decided ultimately just to make anything that mattered immune to our basic abilities.
>you will never get your ass pushed in by a pre-cu jedi again
In retrospect it was sort of a ridiculous ordeal that was only made tolerable by the fact that everyone else was going through it as well.
The game was virtually impossible to solo and there was no such thing as instancing, so for most things you were at the mercy of other people. The game mercilessly whipped you every time you attempted to do anything.
But eventually you're rolling around with your bros who are forged in fire and dropping mobs and, bit by bit, squeezing the blood from the stone. So obviously that part felt incredible. The highs and lows I had with everquest--I can't imagine I'll ever feel them again. It's kind of depressing.
XIbros are right there with you since we started as an EQ clone ourselves. Let's keep hoping for the future together, anon.
