That's incorrect. You probably have someone else's profile. I always play on the hardest difficulty when given the option (don't like it when devs lock the hardest until I play through it a first time). Don't care about "artificial difficulty" nor do I do it to make a point. I just start on the hardest.

Why would I want to plays games on the hardest setting? I prefer playing for fun rather than frustration. Dont see a point in wanting added difficulty to a new game for a first run. Generally it lengthens your completion time and not in a good way.

High difficulty is better left to second run throughs in my opinion though I will play a game on hard if I hear/play part way though and it's easy as balls (Looking at you Last of Us and Ys:Memories of Celceta)
