Greatswords are very slow, and since the Lagiacrus is a bit fast, youre already at a heavy disadvantage. What I can suggest is that you keep your weapon sheathed until you are going to attack. This is advice for both planes of combat. When the Lagiacrus is going to use the slide tackle underwater (you know the one), either fast block by pressing R+X+A, or try to dodge vertically. You can block his electric AOE move, just face him when doing it. If uses the massive-scale AOE (he curls up and momentarily boils the water around him) swim AWAY, the extra sparks he emits cannot be blocked normally.

Need me to keep going? I don't mind.

Again, evade extender is kind of a must IMO, Attack up is great for adding DPS for sting-and-run tactics. Any way to improve Stamina (Either have it recharge faster or deplete slower) Is a must. The G Rank Sand Barioth set can do all of that. It's pretty much made for DS users.

I main the duel blades, the best way to get better with them is to treat them like a hybrid between the S&S and great sword. You can get some swings in and roll normally, but when a big window appears, that's when you do the demon dance and combo like crazy.

It also helps to have a few mega dash drinks so you don't have to worry about demon dance's stamina draining and if you decide to invest in evasion+ skills, it makes you just as good dodging skills as a lancer.

He keeps moving to fast for me to stay in range, sometimes my weapon won't sheath no matter how much I spam the button, sometimes I don't attack from sprint swim, I lose my depth perception so sometimes I'm not even in range when I manage to get a hit off. On land everything goes fine and I have no problems whatsoever, but underwater is pure hell. Doesn't really matter, I only have to fight him once for the capture mission and then I'm never going to see that motherfucker again.

Huh. This sounds more like an aptitude problem, but your going to have to fight him some more if you want to upgrade that GS your using. Why are you using that one against him anyways (assumption)?

Make sure your attack animation is done before trying to sheathe.
When sheathed, keep him at arms reach, unless he deliberately tries a charging attack from afar (spiral swim move), at which point you should just wait for him to come to you.
I cant just tell you to fix your depth perception, so ill instead suggest you memorize the GS range.

The weirdest fucking thing happened to me yesterday. I wanted to make Nargacuga armor in G rank and after I think 4 hunts I had everything I needed, with a mantle and several medulla to spare. I didn't even cut his tail, only broke it, which is only a 5% chance of giving you the lash. Why can't life always be this easy

Your biggest issue is going to be money and materials since you want to buy and craft ammo. Also you want to treat bowguns like an elemental weapon since each bowgun carries different ammo, or works better for different ammo.

Always keep your distance and since you're not using a heavy, you can still evade with it out and get on the move faster since it doesn't fold.

You can't claw. However, it's not impossible to get by with L for camera centering, d-pad for camera control while attacking, and virtual pad for camera control while moving. If you wanna go full pleb, there's a toggle that makes the camera center onto the monster with L, but not follow it.

If you have a Circle Pad Pro you can use the right circle pad for camera control, but far and away its best usage is for LZ and RZ. You can set them to turn the camera left and right, which I mostly use with bows because THUMB IN USE, NEED TO MOVE, GOTTA TURN CAMERA

Basically you want to use what best suits your playstyle.

Do you prefer to use Wyvernfire at every given opportunity and watch your cooldown religiously? Long is for you. It's stronger than Normal and has more shots than Wide. This is also widely considered the best type for shelling constantly between attacks.

Do you like to charge shell often? Wide's your boy. Incidentally wide is particularly shit at shotgun slams, with an 0.9x modifier per shell consumed.

Do you LOVE doing the shotgun slam? That's Normal for you. It also has a huge clip so you can shell between attacks often, but you'll do less damage per shell doing so than you would with Long.

Towards the later shelling ranks, Wyvernfire can easily match up with bombs, same with the Shotgun Slam (the firing of which in particular is known as the Full Burst.)

Fun fact: Full Burst is directly affected by how many shells are loaded in the clip. So you have Load Up, you'll get 6 shells per Normal clip instead of 5, adding another 1.2x damage boost to the overall Full Burst. Keeping in mind that it already modifies each Normal shell by 1.1x, that's a pretty significant damage output.

Wyvernfire is best used when you have a good opening, and can often flinch/stagger/trip monsters. Full Burst is much the same, but you get more opportunities to think about it every time you slam.

Nevermind that online you're going to be loathed with such ferocity that aeons of descendents will curl up in their graves if you try what the dude in that video is doing, but solo you're going to be stuck recovering and sharpening so much it's not even funny, y'know, considering that wide shells use up sharpness 1.5x faster.

For a moment just humouring your misinformedness, let's perform a thought exercise. Maybe wide shelling is the best for speed kills. But factors such as those mentioned above, will enforce that only the absolute best players can use that kind of strategy. But it's more than that. Keep in mind that this is mostly in regard to 4. Some things that were done in 4 were changed or redacted in 4U. I haven't tested it on Uragaan's rolling though, I think that one might be not-evadable.

The problem is that I simply can't into backhops. It's weird. I don't like not being able to roll forward. The lance's limited mobility is really what kills it for me and is why I love the Gunlance so much - that fucking rushing stab. It's goddamn beautiful.

My friend whom I always played P3rd with on PPSPP with adhoc and evolve reinstalled everything.

Now he can't join our games anymore and he always gets kicked off the group. My other friend can join for some reason and won't get kicked off.
