>"As you may have heard, Winterkewl Games have stopped work on Yogventures - but this is actually a good thing,"
>"We innovated too much"
I'm not going to waste time looking it up but I'm pretty sure its been 2 years as well.
Hope they remember that they're legally obligated to refund the money. But I'm pretty sure the majority of funders will be too retarded to ask for it back.
praise be to jesus OP,i fucking hate these autistic assholes,so glad the game is done for.
>mfw i red this post
No they are not. Kickstarter is DONATION money, not money in exchange for a product. Try reading the kickstarter terms of service. There is no legal way to sue them.
You may be thinking "you should be able to sue them!" but sadly law is not designed to fit into your emotions
Read it yourself you fucking idiot, you're absolutely allowed to sue them. The creators have to agree to deliver on the rewards, or deliver a refund, or else they could face legal action from the backers.
The reason Yogscat are not accountable is that they didn't set up the kickstarter, therefore the money is not their problem. They used the little dev team to set up the KS so that all the shit would fall onto their lap if development fell through.
Although I'm pretty sure they would have taken a cut of the KS money behind the scenes. It would be pretty funny to see them go away for money laundering, honestly.
>There is no legal way to sue them.
Whatever you say Yogsfag
>966 people pledged $60 for this game
>980 people pledged $90 for this game
>93 people pledged $200 for this game
>120 people pledged $300 for this game
>37 people pledged $500 for this game
>36 people pledged $750 for this game
>1 person pledged $2000 for this game
>5 people pledged $5000 for this game
>5 people pledged $10000 for this game
>instead of getting the game and backer prizes like they were promised, they all get a shitty $30 indie title instead
>people funding a game by Yogshit
>don't expect it to fall through
>when it does they expect money back
>thinking yogscast isn't about shilling
The Yogscast can't be held responsible because it wasn't their Kickstarter and they didn't receive the money. Winterkewl games did. Apparently Winterkewl are going to release a spreadsheet showing where the budget went for the last two years soon, that should be interesting.
>Although backers were frustrated because Yogscast wasn't offering refunds, the group is well within the rules set in place by Kickstarter. "Although we're under no obligation to do anything," Brindley explained, "instead we're going to do our best to make this right, and make you really glad you backed the project!"
>"Although we're under no obligation to do anything"
I enjoyed the yogscast for years, but now it seems they have gotten too professional. So i mainly stick to sips
That greedy kike Lewis literally murdered fitzthistlewits and i will never forgive him
You guys have got to watch their fucking developer logs.
It's literally just a whole lot of pathetic "no guys seriously, it'll be great. it'll be so good. also you're idiots, what's wrong with blocks? retards. just wait. we HAVE to use cubes, it's not just a minecraft clone"
this is a great example of how to NOT do development videos
Their schticks are the wrost
Lewis: I'M THE EVERYMAN!
Simon: I'M FAT AND LOUD
Hannah: I"M THE OBLIGATORY GF
Sips: I'M A MORON
Sjin: I'M EVERYMAN 2 AUTISM BOOGALOO
Rythian: I'M A MEDIOCRE ROLEPLAYER
Zooey: I'M GAY
and those are the only ones I remember
Are any of the Yogscast members non-cancerous? I've avoided the entire channel like the plague after the first minecon, I'm pretty sure it was then or just before then that shit hit the fan.
ive seen worse
>working at grocer store
>women walks in with a $2,000 purse and other expensive shit such as necklaces, rings, dress, ect.
>fills her kart to the brim
>pulls out a ebt card with $1,000+ in food stamps on it.
>she drives away in a around $100k escalade.
fucking american government man.
>not obligated to do anything
>Ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?
>they could't make a minecraft clone
how? you could even literally just reskin one of the many open source minecraft clones and no one would give a fuck
What is the point of having smooth terrain, if you can't fucking edit it smoothly? The terrain will look it's absolute best before you fucking touch it, everything you do will make it look more like Mineycrafta. They could have atleast had some kind of 'smoothing' code which made the box cutout at least blend with the terrain, and not just be some perfect square cut-out.
They were fucking great though. The Yogpod and most of their content up until Israphel appeared was actually funny as fuck. Anyone who actually wanted to watch Cata footage and news watched TB, you watched Simon and Lewis to be entertained.
>mfw that was 4 years ago
Sips and Sjin
Sjin by himself is boring IMO but he actually does proper Lets Plays, by this i mean he actually discusses the game and mechanics
Hat films is funny if you like to watch dudes dick around and make immature jokes but I only watch them when they play with Sips so I don't know how they are on their own channel
You can fuck anybody over with court fees. If you have staffed lawyers and time to shove paperwork you can have an illegitimate case and just out-resource your opponent.
So some lawyer that didn't even bother to read the terms on kickstarter was out $70, and bankrupted the guy because he was pissed.
What a great example of how to abuse and exploit the court system for a pissing match.
50 whatever for just the Alpha, pay up
>that cheeky fucking kickstarter video they did
>can't even make a minecraft clone
good riddance, fucking faggots
>On November 28, Quest admitted defeat. There were too many internal conflicts and engineering problems to bring Hanfree to life. Quest notified all of the backers, Singh included, that they would not be receiving the iPad stand, and their money would be returned to them.
>Singh wasn't satisfied. He sued Quest and Cespedes, although the suit against Cespedes was eventually dropped.
Wow, Singh sounds like a real asshole. He got his money back, and decided to sue a guy into bankruptcy anyways. And he's a lawyer, too. What a shock.
half a million dosh
for a goddamn minecraft clone
i can start my own restaurant or buy land with that money
Could be worse. It could have been like that webcomic artist who started a kickstarter to release his comic in a physical format. He sent some to his backers and then decided to burn the rest because he didn't want to work anymore and told people that he did it to show people that capitalism is bad
He then started another kickstarter campaign asking people to send him money to pay for EVERYTHING in his life (food, electricity, etc) because he didn't want to work (becuse he's a filthy commie)
>Pledge $90 or more: 980 backers
>Pledge $200 or more: 93 backers

>Pledge $750 or more: 36 backers
>Pledge $2,000 or more: 1 backer
>Pledge $5,000 or more: 5 backers
>Pledge $10,000 or more: 5 backers
>mfw these retards have human rights
>The Yogscast can't be held responsible because it wasn't their Kickstarter
Yes it fucking was
Have you even read the kickstarter page it constantly says how YOGSCAST is making the game and how YOGSCAST teamed up with the devs to make the game.
If you think "but it wasn't our kickstarter" will hold up in court you have another thing coming.
>implying yogtards are smart enough to demand their money back
And for what?
That guy is right.
They're not. Winterkewl isn't either even though they're the ones who failed to deliver. Read up on how KS works.
>Lewis from the Yogscast here - we should have sent out a notice sooner to the backers and that's our fault for not doing so. I don't actually have access to the project page, and the people who were assigned to sort this out haven't done so, so I guess I ought to make a response.
>There are a lot of things wrong in this post that I'm not going to address, but basically: it's a shame Winterkewl were unable to finish the project but now we're finally free of those shackles I'm now confident the project will come out far better than expected.
>We're getting all the code off Winterkewl and have partnered up with Nerd Kingdom who ran a very similar kickstarter for their (almost identical) game TUG around the same time Yogventures was being kickstarted. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nerdkingdom/tug-1
It literally doesn't matter what they say on the KS, if they prove that the devs got all of the KS money, they are free of guilt.
Although we all know that the devs sure as fuck DIDN'T get all that money, I'm sure jewcast were sneaky enough to cover their tracks just incase a shitstorm blew out.
This has already been covered in previous threads. And you are a complete fucking idiot for still trying to push this. You say read the TOS, well the TOS says they have to give the rewards or refund the money.
>they get $500k in donations for a product
>they're careless with the money and squander it
Yeah, it's being too entitled to expect fucking SOMETHING from a half a million dollar investment. Fucking faggot. Also, their not obliged to? Winterkewl are, read up on how KS works you dumb fuck. Yogscast also are, because imagine the fucking shitstorm that would ensue if they just brushed over the issue without giving compensation? They'd lose a whole fuck load of fans. So yes, it was in there best interest to compensate the fans, they didn't give a fuck about the backers.
Let's just calm down. Kickstarter is a way to invest money in an idea in the hope it succeeds. It is a risk/reward calculation. Some investments fail. Publishers have games fail. These guys tried and came up short. The money is gone.
There is no sense in beating them. Sometimes we fail. These guys tried and came up short. There is no scam here. Thanks for trying.
I'm impressed that yogscast is trying to do something to help out the funders. I'm impressed that TUG is willing to give out codes to us. It is not a monetary value thing - so that we can ask for a refund instead. It is a generous offer to allow us to benefit from other backer contributions. Their cost is loss of future sales. A thank you should be in order.
Holy shit this is unreal
In their podcasts they are not nearly as autistic, I believe they only act that way in their vids to appease the 10 year olds that came for mincraft. But their wow vids and podcasts are great.
They didn't. They let the devs use their brand, they didn't pay them jackshit. The kickstarter is officially run by the devs, it's their problem. If they can prove that they didn't get a penny from the KS, then they can and will walk away free, and it will just further ruin that Vale guy.
a tumblr convention that turned out to be a big scam. They also advertised as having a big ballpit and it turned out to be just that thing. Someone also pissed in it.
kickstarter asking for money to buy a ballpit for the dashcon. They got $17,000 and this is what they bought
>I'm impressed that yogscast is trying to do something to help out the funders
Do people fucking realize that they have HUGE fucking fanbase and presence on the internet?
They just can't walk away from it without doing nothing they would lose so many fucking fans.
That sure as fuck is not what happened, they talk about how it was their idea because they didn't like minecraft and how it's their game just developed by someone else.
It would be different if the guy had just bought licensing deal but it was a group effort, but I can see the Yogfagets trying to shift all the blame to the dev.
Why do people keep saying this? KIckstarter had nothing to do with Dashcon. They raised 4k from indiegogo, and then the rest was 'donated' in an hour on the day. It was a scam, sure, but nothing related to kickstarter.
Shadow of Israphel was alright, it had something unique with the main characters not knowing what was going to happen.
Now it's all 100% scripted (yoglabs) or just shitty letsplay (everything else). I miss Yogtrailers
Wow why so mad? Winterkewl are not obligated to refund you in any way. Maybe they have to deliver on physical backer rewards, that's it.
Yogscast is not obligated either because they were barely involved aside from the promotional stuff they did. Yet they still are doing the whole TUG thing and trying to make sure some physical items are sent out. When it's not their job to do so, it would be Winterkewl's.
They didn't hire them. Chris somethingsomething from Winterkewl approached the Yogscast with his idea, and the YC allowed them to use the likeness of their Minecraft characters.
There's no blame SHIFTING, when Winterkewl is entirely to blame.
>People on Tumblr organise a convention
>None of the organisers have any experience with event planning
>Event bombs and doesn't get near the predicted number of attendees (who were all 15 year olds)
>Tumblr "celebrities" pull out of doing panels at the event because organisers can't pay them despite charging extortionate prices for tickets
>Hotel hosting the con threatens to pull the plug if the organisers don't raise $17,000 by the end of the day
>Organisers try to blame 4chan for ruining the con
>They somehow raise the $17,000 by tricking teenagers into coughing up even more money
>For their extra investment, the attendees get an "extra hour in the ball pit"
>The ball pit is a small thing that barely fits 6 people and is full of piss
TLDR: Tumblr people blame 4chan for a terribly organised convention
Did I miss anything?
Except they not responsible for WinterKewl Games being completely incompetent.
Yet all the blame falls on the Yogscast because of idiots like you who don't know the full story and don't even care to look it all up.
Blindly hating on Yogscast is more important than the facts I guess.
>winterkewl is entirely to blame
>Yogscast uses their fanbase to fund a project run by amerturs, by convincing their fans they are actually industry professionals
>They do not attempt to oversee development in order to make sure the game is worthwhile, they just leave all that money in the hands of some retards
Yeah, they're not to blame at all. This whole fucking thing is their fault, all of it. Whatever winterkewl did wrong, Yogs are responsible for it, because they put this massive fucking project in their hands. This is literally what corporations like EA do, give a small team some crazy unrealistic goal, throw a fuck load of money at them and expect the job to be done perfect in 6 months,
>5 people pledged $10000 for this game
>All previous (including walk on role in Shadow of Israphel) + 'Have lunch with the Yogscast!' You and a guest will be invited to join Simon, Lewis and members of the development team to talk about the game, SoI, the finer points of Jaffa Cake consumption and anything/everything else! You will also get the opportunity to pick up some exclusive swag, pose for pictures with the gang (we suggest practicing voguing and your 'Blue Steel' look in advance) and have the greatest (lunch)time of your life! The event can be scheduled either during this year's E3 in Los Angeles, California or later this year in Bristol, England. You will need to provide your own travel arrangements.
Oh my fucking god
This is the best thing I have seen in a while
They even have cardboard sign calling them 'dorks'
Jesus fucking christ this isn't real
>"Although we're under no obligation to do anything, instead we're going to do our best to make this right, and make you really glad you backed the project!"
>Although we're under no obligation to do anything
>no obligation to do anything
So let me get this straight. You can just ask for 500,000 dollars to make, fuck I don't know, a 50-hour sidescrolling metroid game. Then you can live a luxurious lifestyle for 3 years, come back and give everybody pogs instead? Like, what? How come EVERYTHING that comes from kickstarter is a total fucking joke and you people STILL support it? Fucking 50 grand potato salad and now this. "Here have a key to some random fuckin game you've never heard of". I can't go on the internet anymore. Too many fucking retards with too much money to blow on stupid shit.
It went on for a while and had several droughts, like right now. They are very close to finishing the series, but they haven't made any episodes in like a year because Lewis can't think of a good ending or some shit.
I'm not blindly hating anyone here, I think both the dev and the Yogfagets are to blame and deserve to get sued.
Too bad the people who donated are nothing but kids and people who like to get fucked in the ass by YogDick
>Yogscast uses their fanbase to fund a project run by amerturs, by convincing their fans they are actually industry professionals
Yogscast didn't convince their fans. Winterkewl convinced the yogscast that they could do it. And Winterkewl aren't some retards or "amerturs" they're a small group of Dreamworks animators/developers whatever you call them.
Yogscast believed them and helped advertise the thing and allowed them to use their characters' likeness.
If anything the Yogscast is fucked even more so right now than most of the donators.
>This is literally what corporations like EA do, give a small team some crazy unrealistic goal, throw a fuck load of money at them and expect the job to be done perfect in 6 months,
that is just a really bad analogy, no comment
>If you think "but it wasn't our kickstarter" will hold up in court you have another thing coming.
It would absolutely hold up in court. Every kickstarter page lists the corporate entity that is liable for the project. In this case, Winterkewl Games LLC.
WG LLC are now going into administration and will default on any and all debts (including kickstarter funds). And, being a Limited Liability Company, the company's directors cannot be held responsible for any debts.
So let me get this strait. They acquired half a million dollars, only had six people working on one sandbox game for half a decade and couldn't do anything about finishing it? This isn't incompetence this is a fucking heist if I ever saw one.
it's been an hour, anon, here's your reply
It also says in the same page how Yogscast collaborated with the company for this project and how they make the game together.
Actually the whole game just advertises how YOGSCAST is doing the game.
i forward and take photos of people with disibility stickers and dont look disabled, i take pictures of this shit ass construction site of mine and send it off to the City Building and Planning committee (aka a bunch of lawyers who WILL ride people's ass with permit revoking), and shit like this
I too am a full time cashier at an expensive bulk dealing hardware store (independent, thank god), and I see this sort of shitty scam or social welfare abusing fucks all the time at my work or at my local grocery
I call them out, I dont feel bad, it's my tax dollars and social security being wasted on these 30year+ old scam artists
You do realize that for 5 years and a six man team, a $500k budget would come out to less that $17k pa for each employee, right? That is not enough to do anything.
Everyone on this board seems to think you can make a detailed 3d videogame for a couple of grand without any business costs or paying developers, designers, artists, etc. That's just not how real life works.
This is why you never pay for anything before it exists
Preordering and pledging are one and the same. There is always a chance the the game will be shit or fail to deliver on any of its promises. Wait until the game is released and there is a consensus online.
THIS is the real problem. None of these fuckwit amateurs know how much it costs to make a good video game.
Even backwater slavshit developers still blow $2,000,000+ on their video games.
KEK WARS: Return of The Lulz
This is why I never spend money on crowdfunding shit. No matter how hyped I might be about a project. The system is completely fucked and on autopilot to rape the customer in the ass with a barb wired baseball bat without lube.
If youre donating 10gs to a minecraft clone its safe to say you have enough money that 10,000$ is nothing to you.
Ive seen donations on twitch in the 30,000$ range. Not everyone playing games are poor fuckers.
So wait, have these guys made videogames before?
I mean, I can understand backing Shovel Knight because the people who worked on it were Ex-Wayforward who have experience and know how to put the time and effort into a game.
and PERHAPS MN9 because they have skilled people in the Medium (though it honestly looks like shit, but who knows)...
But why would you back a game with People who are all sass and no experience?
>They don't even include plane tickets.
Nobody who spends $10,000 on a kickstarter video game is rich because rich people don't just drop $10,000 on zero-return investments.
Someone, FIVE someones, blew half their life's savings on this.
Welcome to advertising, I guess?
Do you also think 20th Century Fox is legally responsible for any problems with Aliens: Colonial Marines? After all, "Alien" was plastered all over it!
This is just the product of one company with no businesspeople doing business with another company who have no businesspeople and everyone involved being a fucking idiot getting into things they didn't understand.
I imagine the only thing anyone has made out of it is bad PR for the yogscast, 2 years of low pay work for the employees of WG that will look fucking awful on their resumes and WG's company director never being able to get any credit again in his entire life.
I hope he's already bought a house and started a family, because he'll be unlikely to get a mortgage.
>pakishit ruining a guy to become famous
>going after small-time guys instead of banksters
there's no one at blame here, it just didn't happen
that's how KS works. people can be mad all they want, they can't sue for the devs not delivering on their promise
yogscast didn't get any of the money
no it's not, the devs really had good intentions and the main guy looks like a really nice and genuine guy. it just didn't work out.
it's not rationalization, it's the truth, 99% of the people just don't know the full picture
I also didn't donate and never will, to anything and I know a scam when I see one
This wasn't one. It was very dodgy that it would ever happen, because of Winterkewl's inexperience, but it wasn't a scam
She probably just has a rich lover?
Or should her social welfare be cut off so she has no option but to rely on the whims of someone else? (assuming she is unable to find work).
She may be a horrible person for all I know, but the system exists for a reason.
Pewdie is Teh Epik Lulze Man XD
More and more people are launching lawsuits against failed Kickstarters.
A United States Attorney General launched an official lawsuit against the creators of Asylum for stiffing backers.
Here's the official document.
Youre wrong though. Check out any of the popular games on Twitch like WoW, Dota and League and find the female streamers with alot of viewers and look at their donations tabs in there bios.
Tens of thousands of dollars donated for absolutely no reason other than to have their twitch names put into their bios.
>If anything the Yogscast is fucked even more so right now than most of the donators.
Yogscast can go fuck themselves, the people who kickstarted are the ones out money. The Yogscast are equally or even more responsible than Winterkewl. The Yogscast got the game Greenlit, the Yogscast got the game Kickstarted, hell if you even look at the the backer's rewards many of them feature things that can only be done by the Yogscast giving them permission, this includes:
>autographs from Lewis and Simon on a printed out sheet of concept art - $200 - 93/1000 backers
>a personalized thank you video made by Lewis and Simon - $2000 - 1/50 backers
>a guest character in the Yogscast series SOI (something that hasn't made an episode in over a year) - $5000 - 5/5 backers
>lunch with the Lewis, Simon, and the developers (note you have to pay your own travel cost) - $10000 - 5/5 backers
That's a total of $95600 of donations from things that can only be filled out by the yogscast, and this does not even include the other offerings that would require their permission such as the plushie, and statuettes.
> they can't sue for the devs not delivering on their promise
They can sue if they fail to deliver any sort of product. The opportunity cost alone makes anything short of a financial refund insufficient.
Seth Quest was sued for failing to deliver a tablet peripheral he was advertising on Kickstarter. I'd post the article but VentureBeat is filtered. You'll have to look it up yourself.
Their pathetic fanbase probably only wanted to give money to their virtual friends. I bet they only feel sympathy for how the project panned out. People stupid enough to have actually donated to something like this will almost certainly have not learned anything valuable under any circumstances.
> All of these people who believe that the low budget means it's okay to cancel the project
No. They shouldn't have accepted the money in the first place if they couldn't deliver a product.
Not even the Double Fine Kickstarter handled things this badly. At worst, they would have delayed their game instead of canceling it entirely.
This borders on violating good faith.
I couldn't find anyone other than the CEO on LinkedIn, so I suspect the other five people have no meaningful industry experience.
The CEO has already moved back to a position in DreamWorks. No longer doing Character TD, but what looks like basic coding for mobile games. Not exactly an auspicious career move.
This is the problem with Kickstarter.
People give more money because they want to see more things in the game. Little do the devs realise they're piling more work on for themselves than they realise. Their large sum of money dries up faster than they think it will and end up screwing over every consumer.
Hah, okay that's a good point.
I would love to see the higher tier backers demand they fulfil those promises.
"I want you to have a meal with me, in which you apologize for the game's failure on film, and then give me your signatures".
ok , I'm a delusional shill, for telling the truth and not joining the hate bandwagon
anyway, this is an interview with the lead developer from a few years ago
as I've said, they all really wanted this thing to come together, it just didn't
They could be sued, but the corporate entity in question is a Limited Liability Company that no longer exists. There is nothing to *get*, anyway. All their assets will have already been claimed by the bank they doubtless went to for loans after the kickstarter money ran out.
I never understood why Yogscast was so popular.
Literally the only time I've ever heard of them was when Yogscast and Notch started cursing at each other on Twitter over some stupid and petty argument. They just seem like a bunch of half-baked Rooster Teeth clones.
>All of these people who believe that the low budget means it's okay to cancel the project
I don't think anyone's actually said that. Only that it's not some kind of evil scam, but instead fucking awful business management.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
Your problem is that you believe that good intentions matter. They honestly don't.
The fact that they tried doesn't change the fact that they failed. I'm sure backers can forgive them for it, but that failure is still something the developers are responsible for.
Effort doesn't amount to as much as you think it does.
>>Hotel hosting the con threatens to pull the plug if the organisers don't raise $17,000 by the end of the day
Even worse, we're pretty sure that was a scam. People called the hotel and they had didn't have any idea what they were talking about
Yeah, the hotel had nothing to do with it.
When asked about the situation by people attending the con the hotel said that they'd never asked for the extra 17,000. On top of that, the main way of donating the money back was through an online site that only actually gives the donatee the money a few days after money is donated, so it would be impossible for them to have paid the hotel in time that way. So yeah, it was a scam.
"John Campbell says he was able to send a good number of them, he posted a rambling 4,500-word note on Kickstarter in late February that claims he ran out of money. Campbell's note is accompanied by a video that shows a flaming heap of paper, presumably the remains of over 100 copies of the book that is based on his online comic series, called "Pictures for Sad Children." "
They may have all the talent in the world, but that doesn't prepare them for the work environment.
A character TD may be able to do lovely rigging, but will it be set up just how the animators like it? A lighting TD might be able to produce fantastic scenes, but can they work with everyone else in a time frame that actually gets anything done without the renderers sitting on their hands waiting for something to do?
Or will I lose my line managers time as they spend six months babysitting someone with no real experience to get them up to speed?
you're just moving the goalpost
the original "argument" was that it's a scam and a heist, to which I replied that it wasn't that - everyone involved wanted it to happen
intentions do matter when when people are saying that it was a scam from the very beginning which it was not
the fact that they've failed and who's responsible is a completely separate issue
I've never said "they're not responsible for their failure because they had good intentions"
although they are not obligated to recompense you if their project fails on KS either
it's their fault (Winterkewl Games') that they were incompetent and wasted the money, but you also can't do anything about it
>I'm impressed that yogscast is trying to do something to help out the funders.
THIS is how bad kikstarter is, when someone can be impressed that a 10 dollar game is given out to people funding thousands of dollars into the doomed project.
Ah, so you were that "special" kid growing up eh?
GOOD JOB KIDDO
One too many pats on the back - learn that even if you do everything right, someone will still be a fucking faggot to you, whether it's me berating you on a shitty imageboard, or a customer I have to deal with as a cashier in a large hardware store throwing a shitfit because I told them to go back to our Fasteners department because I, and our computer system, does not have 40,000 different entries for all the different bolt, nut, washer, etc sizes that we have in stock since that department mostly internalizes all their own QOH/inventory
TL;dr you're really naive if you're not a fanboy shill
"Campbell posted a video of himself burning 127 of the remaining books -- one for each of the messages via social media he has received so far about the late-shipping books, and he'll burn another one every time he gets another message about a backer not getting their rewards."
holy shit, i used to like this comic too. what the fuck happened?
And again, this is a case with no meaningful legal recourse because the man is clearly suffering from mental illness.
Not everything on Kickstarter is an evil scam, most of it is just just people horribly unsuited and unprepared for what people have paid them to do.
A character artists don't do any rigging, the senior animation person provides rigs for the animators to work with and character artists just send the characters off to the animators to work with. Depending on the size of the company you can even have people that just rigs models.
But besides that stop smoking crack.
>guy fucks up
>"Sorry guys, I'll give you mall your money back"
>gets fucked over anyway
You really think anyone under the age of 27 knows who the fuck "Tears for Fears" is anymore?
I asked that question the other day at work. Everyone below the age of 22 gave me the most blank stare.
Ive used Tears for Fears in a password once before, it's good to use phrases and band names for passwords
The guy had a pretty bad mental breakdown.
I know this because I went through a similar thing a few years back. Fortunately, I got my shit together and I wasn't a comic book writer with thousands of fans.
Going through his rants will cause you to cringe. The guy was having a manic episode when he was typing.
Will the big LPers go out of business when they get old and people watch the millions of others or does getting big first allow them to suck all the air out of the room so up and comers generally die?
For what it's worth, I think it's interesting how guys like the Nostalgia Critic are still able to make a living with their web content. Yeah, they're scraping by, but that's pretty notable all its own.
>Skydoesminecraft is rising beyond #15
That fucker is the PewDiePie of Minecraft, and his community is just as bad, if not worse.
>Started the Squids are Evil!!11 and GOLD IS BUTTER Trends among autists
>There are sperglords who will go out of their way to inform you passive aggressively that it's not Gold, but "Budder" and will shit all over you until you get it right
Eh, it's always kind of been the way.
It more that "artist" positions attract people who *want* to do the work regardless of pay, while programming is a skill set that can just be applied to whatever job appeals the most in pay/benefits
it has to be
im 26 and im scared shitless of getting old
but more and more do i realize how fucking stupid i was until i was 22, well, not really stupid, just really fucking ignorant and in my own world bubble
The worst part?
If you leave to see your 40s, you'll look back on how stupid you were in your 20s. You were a lot less stupid at that point, but you still fucked up from time to time.
Same goes for me and anyone else reading this.
The majority of non-creative Kickstarters (for restaurants and small businesses) seem to be more responsible with their funds.
It's why I hesitate to dismiss Kickstarter and crowd-funding entirely.
>people defend this and say yogscast is untouchable
I'm already making plans to start my life as a professional scammer. I get investors for something I never plan to do, then drop them and run with the money!
I could buy a condo in the city of Boulder CO for that money
I could buy almost 3 of the same condo I am about to lease/buy
I could have bought 2 years ago about ~2 acres of land in Iowa, my old state, which has land prices rising FAST due to farmers wanting as much land as possible due to the corn boom with ethanol/bio-fuel, bio-plastics, and livestock feed and obviously corn based food and food products of the world.
oh and then I would LEASE that land to farmers
My dad makes ~$200k a year just from having invested in like 10 acres of land about 10 years ago, now farmers BID to LEASE for 1 year of his land to farm on.
>If you leave to see your 40s,
Sorry, I got 3.3 years until an hero, because I don't want to become a wizard, and I hate myself for how I reached the age of 26 and still haven't gotten the poon tang even with my looks.
I'm just socially avoidant when it comes to personal relationships.
I wonder, can I crowdsource money for euthanasia or a helium tank?
People will donate money so I can take a plane trip to Mexico for some hack doctor to permanently put me under for no pain as Im getting a blowjob from a hooker, no?
>guy who buys real estate
I don't know why but I find you types to be utter scum.
>not the $5000 an hour lawyer or doctors that do 10 minutes of work
>not the university hospitals that double charge
no, shut up, please die
real estate was one of the first and earliest ways of capital and investment in america, and by far one of the most sound non monetary investments you can do in this day and age
my little summer school anon can't be this uneducated
Hey atleast a doctor helps someone instead of preying on people. I said nothing about it being lazy, just unethical.
I mean you can make good money selling meth as well but it's not the nicest way to make money.
>implying it isnt a multitude of other things I consider myself a failure for
Im really hard on myself as others tell me, but I know I have mental issues, no need to throw ad hominem when you're in disbelief reading something on, you know, 4chan
and that alone would drive me to the edge, even worse than the thought of considering suicide if I had to be that pathetic and use a legit hooker
What this dude said
>Hey atleast a doctor helps someone
Are you seriously not in summer school? Do you not know how many types of doctors there are and which types are the most overpaid for their work?
Again, no one is discussing how hard it is. But to say doctors don't save lives is just a flat out lie not worth addressing.
>calls others underage
>wants to commit suicide because he hasn't had sex
Anaesthesiologists are highly paid for a reason. They're like IT for humans who are put under. If everything's cool, they don't have much to do besides keep it cool. If something goes wrong, they have to work FAST. IT keeps the servers up, anaesthesiologists keep people from dying.
Man, what if it was a cute Persian heiress who had to assume a male identity in order to gain Internet access in a conservative Muslim society?
That is my fetish. To be doted on by someone like that.
And I was shocked Lazer team had people who donated in the thousands... Atleast RT has an entire team and the determination to go through with it. But people actually donated to this? Wasn't this announced years ago? God dam some people are fucking stupid.
The only thing worth donating to on Kickstarter is nothing until it's 100% verified they'll go through with it, and even then that can be bullshit. Like that chicks daughter who was going to "Make her own game".
Crowdfunding shouldn't even be a thing with the amount of "Easy money is the best money" type people out there.
I find it kind of funny too, but also sad, and if I could I would gladly punch that little shit in the face. I mean, was it really necessary? And besides, HE is the imbecile who didn't know how kickstarter worked in the first place
Doesn't really matter if he does or doesn't know how Kickstarter worked. I think that developers should be given the greatest amount of freedom possible once their crowd-funding campaign has ended, but if they completely bail on the project then there needs to be a way to hold them accountable.
Even if Singh is an asshole, what he did was kind of important.
