I'm personally okay with clones in the same vein as Lucina. They added a new FE rep, specifically one from Awakening with a completely original moveset in the form of Robin. Lucina is there to appease to her fans and maybe to increase the female count too. Her being a clone of Marth actually makes sense too and I doubt it took much work to make her, so it's alright in my book.

As long as we don't get a case like Melee where half of the newcomers are clones or if we have fuckers like Ganondorf who have no business being clones at all, I'm cool.

Fire Emblem started on the NES decades ago and had three titles on it. FE 1 & 3 were remade for the DS and are considered FE 11 & 12. FE 2 is the Link II of the series and can be played at a later time.

On the SNES you have FE 4 & 5. A lot of fans consider these the best games, but FE 5 has a very bad translation patch and it sucks to not have it available after playing FE 4.

On the GBA you have the titles most people are familiar with. FE 6 & 7 & 8 are all good games and good places to jump into the series if you are familiar with SRPGs already.

On the GCN/Wii you have FE 9 & 10. 9 is the first 3D entry in the series and rough around the edges, but a lot of people played it for their entry title and enjoyed it. 10 is pretty divisive among fans.

FE 13 is Awakening and brings a some features back from the older games while removing others. It's a good entry title to the series if you're unfamiliar with SRPGs. There is a oft-mentioned marriage feature for characters but it's entirely optional (Unlike FE4's).

Chrom was never going to be in at all. Gematsufags were BTFO. Lucina wasn't even going to be in either, but Sakurai decided to have her not be just an alt for Marth.

That is confirmed in an interview, which disproves the idea that Sakurai is unwilling to make another character an alt of another, so you might get lucky with a full model change for Peach, Daisyfags. Chrom at best MIGHT get in at the last minute if they care as his own playable character in the form of a tremendously weaker but probably faster Ike because they could spend all of a couple minutes doing that.

Marth's nothing incredibly special, just a good leader with some slightly above average sword skills.

Lucina and Ike are ridiculous badasses because of how long they've been fighting, although Ike's probably better. Lucina's kind of at a disadvantage given that she's a kid and doesn't have testosterone.

Robin would probably be the strongest if you count Grima, but I wouldn't count Yune for Ike, so screw that. He's still got mind games and good foresight, and the only one who can use magic.
