I fucking LOVE RPGs with job systems. What are some of the best that do it?
I've only really played a couple. FFT, FFTA and FFIII off the top of my head.
Why is there always an Ogre fan that has some weird complex and feels the need to shit on the Tactics games. Rather just FFT cause advanced was gross. I like both Tactics Ogre and FFT. They're both really fun.
>We live in a world where Ogre Battle will never get a non-tactics sequel.
I enjoyed Tactics Advance but a lot of people seem to hate it which if you started with FFT I guess I can understand.
I played War of the Lions after FFTA and have to say it's so much better. One of my favorite games of all time.
Ultima Online allows you to bake bread, forge weapons, etc. You can literally live the dream by becoming a virtual baker or blacksmith. I heard EVE is also a pretty good accountant simulator.
This may surprise you to realize but some people have different tastes anon.
There's a shitton of tactics games to choose from but I've never really seen anything like snes/64 OB after they came out.
Liar. Tactics had a much more serious and complete story, more interesting characters, and a more intuitive job system-- not to mention you could name your generics and you weren't locked into classes by race.
FFTA2 was bretty gud but still no FFT:WotL
Good question actually. I know Delita was just using everyone, but I still can't fault him for some of the stuff he did. He got shafted by life and wanted to prove to everyone what you could do to conquer it
Advance left us with the question of "Is Marche right?" even though they probably never intended that I still think it's quite funny but I wouldn't say Advance is better than Tactics.
The team really did improve since the year 2000
Oh, Christ, Laws were a mess. I seem to recall getting some crazyass laws like 'lol no using black magic'.
Delita is the biggest asshole in FF history. Poor Ovelia.
Marche's only crime is that he wanted to go home so badly that he ruined everyone else's fun in the new world. Also he got with dat white haired Ritz, so he's cool by me.
/v/'s reaction to Marche is pretty spot on. Marche is pretty dead set on getting home despite what it would do to his friends and family
Delita however used EVERYONE to take control of the country. Ovelia, Ramza, the church, everything.
I'm surprised he didn't turn out to be behind the zodiac braves as well. he merely took advantage of it. wish he had been in duodecim dissidia
Marche is a really bad character.
FFTA2 is a much better game, kinda simplistic, but it's better designed and even though the main character is a dunce he's not a badly written dunce.
There's no attempt at anything deep at all in the story, so I guess they played it safe after they fucked up FFTA.

Am i the only person on earth who found jp grinding tedious as fuck? Yes you could use squire skills to speed it up but it was boring as hell.
What did the game devs want? You to main some basic classes up until the end, and still not have enough jp for decent advanced skills?
FFX-2 has the absolute best job system in all of Final Fantasy and it is the absolute best version of ATB in all of Final Fantasy.
Just mute the game and go grab a snack during the opening FMV.
Y R P In position. It's showtime, girls.
course its tedious. its grinding
it has some catchy songs. some of the costumes are cool. kinda nice to see what Wakka's been up to. Coin Break mini game. Also the hardest post game material of any FF up to that point, and still arguably the hardest
"Used" is not inherently a bad thing. His "use" of Ovelia involved saving her life, protecting her, and making her queen. His "use" of Ramza involved pointing him in the right direction for his own goals (which happened to coincide with Delita's). The church got what they had coming.
There are both FFT and War of the Lions(which I figure is just a port) on the PSStore, which one should I buy?(don't you fucking say both)
WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU?
War of Lions is FFT with updated dialogue (oh, godest whyeth thou!?) and some bug fixes with a little bit extra content.
Go FFT is you want to see the version we're all jizzing over. War of the Lions if you want an itty bit more bang for your buck.
Well yeah, it's a tragedy. In spite of Delita's intentions being good and his feelings being true, the way he carried out his plans made him completely untrusted, even by those closest to him.
The audio quality is much worse in WotL. In RPGFan's review they said it's because there's no reverb, but I don't know if that's true or not.
>all the FFV love in this thread
Been playing Final Fantasy Dimensions recently. It has a very similar job system.
Go to the development section to see the changes. The plot of the game is above it, so warning if you care.
Mostly all very positive stuff they changed. The dialogue change was pretty idiotic though. They could have just fixed some of the localization errors, but instead they gave everyone biblespeak dialogue.
Still, I'd go FFT if you want the real experience. The same experience we're all giddy about. But War of the Lions is overall a better game.
I think you should
It is pretty much FFV with a bit less charm. It has a few elements of FFIV in it as well, such as picking up temporary characters and things like that.
I really liked it, but IV/V/VI are my favourite Final Fantasies so some of it may have been nostalgia for me.
It also has a fucking amazing soundtrack:
Ok fine I'll get FFT.It's better for me too since my regional PSstore doesn't have WoTL,only FFT which means I don't need to get dollaridoos to buy it
Thanks a lot. You've been very helpful
That sounds pretty great. It makes sense it's got some FFIV in it, Takashi Tokita was a big influence on both games. And Chrono Trigger. And Parasite Eve.
...Why the fuck doesn't Square put him in charge of everything?
It is an RPG. It is just a super railroaded RPG where nothing you do can effect the plot besides doing a specific action, such as killing a bad dude.
It happens in tabletop RPGs a lot, especially with newer GMs who play lots of video games before running their first game.
No mention of bahaumt Lagoon yet, while not a traditional job system as the heros just stay the same class and change depending ont he dragon assigned to them. The dragon customization is out of this world so fucking good. So funny when you fuck up and make one of the junk dragons
