I played the entire game recently and never saw this happening. They only mentioned some times about "adopting" her into the family, but it was just a way to say that she was part of the family now.

You know I find myself looking back on it to find memorable things to say about it in it's favor and I find myself... just blown away by how little I can really think of.

The main character was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Despite having the entire cast from ToS with vibrant personalities and interesting stories that everyone wanted to see continued, they did literally fucking nothing with it. You didn't even keep them as real party members and they served very little, if any, plot relevance.

The battling system wasn't bad but honestly if they fucked that up it would be a mystery how they were knowledgeable enough to even program the fucking thing.

The characters admittedly had some moments... that were promptly ruined by driving home a message harder than Spiderman was even able to.

The villains I've mostly forgot about. Or was there only three? I remember the guy with long red hair, the sadist, and that guy that wanted to bone the sadist loli like he was a junky for her.

The music was nice at least?

Also I admittedly liked the female main character for some reason, but I assume this says more about me than the game.

ToX2 is not meant to be played on normal, that's for sure.

I any other Tales game you have to time your jumps, bait an attack and then sidestep or use an Arte is a defensive way like Tempest.

I give Abyss credit for having a really developed world that tries to explain several things that you tend to ask about in RPGs, e.g. how mages can't use their super big range magic attacks in the middle of a town full of unmarked civilians while party members remain unaffected during regular battles thanks to said markings.

Jade got a reason for being who he is, but he didn't change at all. The closest he got to that was crying when Luke died.

Asche just learned to somewhat accept Luke and his companions. That's it.

Because we only got the inferior version of Vesperia and Rebirth didn't come out while no Tales games were being localized so nobody expected it to be localized in the first place, while Vesperia came out while Namco was starting to localize more Tales games. On top of that, the game is pretty popular compared to other Tales games. I find the cast to be more in touch with western preferences and I believe that's part of why it's popular here.
