You'd be surprised how powerful those Intel APUs have become though. Sure, they don't come close to a 780TI, but for general performance and small time gaming they're quite amazing actually. Been rocking mostly a HD4000 on my ZenBook UX32VD in OS X and it runs damn good and that's not an Iris which most Macs come with which is about double the power again.

Dunno what you hate about Aqua, but if you mean Finder (the file manager which is pretty horrible) try XtraFinder. Far better at everything and free (as in open source).

Try Homebrew too which is a package manager. Quite good if you've gotten used to Linux, but need the proprietary software.

I own a mac because I prefer OSX to Windows for like 99% of my daily computing tasks.

My first one's HD died within a month, got it replaced under warranty. Worked fine after that, but then the casing around the keyboard and around the monitor started cracking (pick related, that's how it started down by the palm rest, then it got bigger, about the width of one's finger.)

Both laptops finally gave up, where the keyboard and the mousepad just don't work.

I used to be a Mac guy but I switched for games and a lot of specific software.
I miss OSX, it's a much cleaner and more stable OS. I loved how much lightweight community-made free software was available for it without any RECOMMENDED: INSTALL THE ASK.COM TOOLBAR bullshit tacked on.

Don't even need to build a hackintosh as long as you have a Intel processor almost all the latest desktop components work on OS X. All nVidia graphics cards work on it and most ATI cards. The only problem is WiFi which is a trivial task to fix.

But I have to agree, it's a good fucking OS. The only problem is the little game compatibility and that the Finder is quite meh. Software on it is great, homebrew is great, UI is great, and gestures are godlike. Wouldn't switch back to Windows as my main OS even if I got paid.

But that's wrong in at least 3 different respects:

1) It ignores when no, you couldn't put together the same specs even for less money.

2) It ignores that form factor is in fact a feature most normal humans care about. Try building an iMac considering how much space it occupy and how good its materials are, not a machine that it's supposed to run the same.

3) It ignores the value of your own time.

Macs have literally almost every driver in the world already installed (there are Os X weekly updates that automatically install the drivers of new keyboards, mouses, printers, cameras, cellphones, graphic tablets and so on just appeared on the market), but apple choose not to release official Xbox 360 controller drivers, because fuck it, they hate Microsoft.

Too bad you can download the drivers anyways from the web, also most of game ports let you use the xbox controller without problems.

There is a certain age, where you grow out of your hate for apple and realize that while their hardware is not cheap, you still get the overall better product.

I've tried some apple products but I've learned my life doesn't need them. iPod's are cool but I enjoyed an MP3 I had before much more with it's simplicity, but I don't hate my current iPod, but I rarely use it nowadays and I hate using iTunes.
