When do YOU think its coming out?
My best guess is Spring-Summer 2015 since we've only seen about 6mins of "gameplay" total
If it's coming out that early it'll be a pallette swap extravaganza with maybe a half dozen sets of stuff to choose from.
If they're really good they'll be able to implement a Spore creature creator Lite to mix and match animals for you.
Then, why everybody discovered this "game" (it's a tech demo, that's it) only after the Sony conference ?
It's Minecraft with substantially better graphics in a science fiction setting, and you can take off in a spaceship and seamlessly fly into space and then on to other worlds without loading screens.
Sure seems that way, everything released plus the hype points toward a HUUUGE disappointment.
Especially with the guy who made it, he said the gameplay videos were "accidental" or "entirely random" yet the game happened to do everything it had within 3mins per trailer
the idea that theres no hands-on gameplay yet is a big sign of trouble or CG "visual representational" modeling ala Killzone 2 or
I'd love to call their bluff on all these claims, especially the trade/economy/random/stores/ship upgrade/mining/dino/dogfighting/clan features
seems like too many claims and zero evidence so far.
its like posting gameplay of minesweeper and then making up some shit about "customizable mines" or "special upgrades", lots of consumers dont get that just because A claim=True, doesnt mean B claim=True.
There is a spot in the opening trailer (e3, not the debut in 2013)where you can see individual cubes available for mining, however Im not sure if this is throughout or only in particular parts of the randomly built worlds/locations
ok maybe this will help?
The idea that Eve online has planetary surface flight is false. That's all I'm saying.
What's impressive about seamless loading isn't that it can load space, but that it can load the planet.
>Skeptics will point out how well choreographed the E3 demo seemed during Sony's briefing, with magnificent animal life and space battles happening right on cue. How could Hello possibly make sure that everything happened when it was supposed to?
Space Engine is very impressive indeed, but it has no game to it.
NMS appears to improve on that aspect, though it's arguable that it will have a universe generator of comparable quality.
The last good game that had this feature was in the Elite series waaaaay back when. Which is why I'm also hyped for the new game, even though its planet engine isn't coming until some kind of xpac.
I want to believe......
I cant make heads or tales of if I'd like it
>"you'll earn money, which you can use to purchase things like new ships, which are capable of traveling further into the depths of the galaxy. There, you can find new planets and discover more species, or engage in more dogfights, which will get you more money to buy better spaceships, and so on."
Then find a game now-available game from after the year 2000 that has both, cause that is all that matters to me in this context.
That's what I see in NMS and Elite Dangerous. That's what "it have".
The goal is o reach the center of the universe.
Game starts and all the planets are earthlike, you go furter in ad it gets more and more hostile, culminating in probably some insanely hard bossfight planet at the center. Also the game has permadeath so there is that
Space Rangers 2 is a 2D game with no planetary flight.
I feel like I need to clear up what it is I'm looking for.
A 3D game with seamless transitioning planetary-space flight, with an explorable universe. And gameplay.
Doesn't look like those enemy fighters were hot shit. They were most likely the weakest-level scouts, and that's why they were going to a planet instead of fighting the player with their fleet.
I agree with the questionable "you can do anything" claims
But Im pretty sure combat and animals is deeply cemented in there (as far back as November reveal and details IIRC).
I cant tell if you're trolling or just poorly informed on this game so far.
>with better combat, more diverse locations, better player mobility, more mobs to find and kill, and (potentially) no terraforming or construction.
except we saw none of that so far.
Watch the gameplay video, buttchugger.
>first planet we visit is a lush forest
>go to a nearby asteroid belt and find some enemies
>go to an arid planet filled with canyons
>fucking SPACE SHIP
Better player mobility.
>various wildlife of various sizes, plus pirate fleets
More mobs to find and kill.
>terraforming and construction
This is what we haven't seen.
Shit, so what you're saying is it's like Frontier/Elite II?
that is kinda shitty, I wonder if there's random "villages" or "cities" or "space stations" with NPCs.
Id hate a random wilderness explorer game like Minecraft before villages/mobs
Already, I'm interested in it. If Splatoon fanboys can get hyped over a gameplay video and an extremely limited demo, I deserve the leeway to get hyped over a gameplay video and some reasonable footage from the developer himself.
technically speaking terraforming is at the very least confirmed for asteroids if you have the patience to laser a house out of an asteroid belt
The only thing it has in common with Minecraft is the procedurally generated world and yet, in No Man's Sky everyone share one unique seed.
The only combat we've seen so far is flying and shooting lasers. At least in minecraft you have the option between long range and melee attacks or building traps or complex mechanisms with red stone.
>better player mobility
Okay for that one
We've seen like 6 kinds of mobs and among those, there were identical mobs found on different planets. The logical thing would be that each planet has unique mobs but let's get real, we know they can't code that shit.
>(potentially) no terraforming or construction
Let's not start speculating that every possible gameplay element not talked about could be in the game. If they said nothing about it, we have to assume it's not going to be there for now
We've seen some signs of above human intelligence life, but nothing was said about villages or cities. As for space stations, I think we've seen some in the trailers
Anyone else is annoyed by the bloom and color scheme that permeates this universe? Also, even if the atmospheres are thin as fuck, as soon as you enter in it, there is fuckton of fog. They better fix that
This is not infinite at all.
They say that you start on the edge of the galaxy and as you come closer to the center, the game gets harder. If it were infinite, there would be no edge
wait, which anon is talking to me right now>?
is it that anon that knew nothing about the game but kept comparing it to space engine? because thats an anon not worth talking to or taking seriously
Are the rocks supposed to look this bad up close but just fine when they're far away?
>"No Man's Sky is a forthcoming science-fiction game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe."
Have you never heard of
Elite? (22kb game with 4500+worlds)
This isnt some groundbreaking technology, infinite random generation is about as old as Pc gaming if not basic PC programming.
For the convenience of people talking about things they dont know/understand please watch the entire video.
Within 22kb in the 80's
Max capacity of a blu-ray single layer=25gb
That's 1,191,563 times the storage capacity of the original game.
But yeah, it cant be infinite because there's no space to spare......
there's been a lot of shit-posting lately and same-fagging, so I have to do the ol "please prove this" demand.
Because im not going to argue with that Anon who was just making shit up until someone called his bluff.
Just gimme a link or video source that proves this. Because your claim is in direct conflict with the Dev's earlier claims and general statements/faq. In fact, here's a link to the game's official FAQ or disclosure page.
>PARALLEL UNIVERSES: Choose to share your discoveries with other players, or not. You will never see another player, but you could make your mark on their worlds as well as your own.
Did they changed their plan, but forgot to update this page?
Shame there probably isn't completely dynamic terrain similar to what Landmark is using. Being able to construct and shape worlds like that in this game would be amazing.
I can't imagine they wouldn't consider some sort of building/terraforming being a thing, what else is there to do on planets other than admire the scenery and gather resources for the space game?
yep, there's too much conflicting info to really know what the game is/could be
thats why its funny hearing people ITT make up facts without even watching the trailers or reading the dev comments or news on NMS
>"[...] you start on the outside ring of it and that's a big aim for a lot of people is trying to get as far towards the center of the universe as they can."
building a spacestation or team-based/location based economy would be cool.
"this space station requires a michigan-faction code for entry"
(now THAT is something definitely unconfirmed)
interplanetary battles from warring websites or boards.
/a/ vs /c/
/b/ planet vs reddit planet
that'd be cool if ever considered
You shouldn't think about cool stuff like this. It's how hype is become disappointment. And it still looks like the devs don't fully know how the final game will looks like or play like
It's really unsure because in recent interviews, the devs said that you can meet players. Looks like they changed their mind or something
Or maybe they are starting to lie since they saw that people were pretty bummed about that aspect
this is another one of those in-conflict claims
maybe the "outside ring" isnt the same as the "edge of the universe" and instead is a median diameter.
Picture a donut, starting at the outside ring could just mean the part with the sprinkles, there's more to both ends of the ring but still with a middle and a ring
that's the logical compromise for an argument in which neither of us know which statement is correct
but in my opinion it'd be weird to spawn as default at the border of an invisible wall when you're advertising "infinite worlds"
they said it would be like journey with MP, but admittedly a really bad MMO.
Does nobody read the links I post?
>Even though there will be other human players exploring the same universe, you won't bump into them very often. "You can meet and get an idea of other players, but the universe is very vast, basically, so the chances of you actually coming across someone are pretty slim," says Murray. "We're not trying to make an MMO, or if we are, we're making a really terrible MMO, because everyone is spread so far apart." It's not a game that you pick up to play with your friends, he says. The closest approximation he can come up with is Journey, where players could cross paths with other players, but don't deliberately play "with" them.
What I think is the case is that the galaxy they are talking about is sitting somewhere in an infinite space of big nothing. Just like GTA maps are sitting in an infinite ocean. It's technically infinite and it doesn't invalidate all they said about starting on the outside ring.
people are losing their fucking minds over a nintendo squid based TPS
>hey wouldnt it be neat if this space game had some sor- FUCK YOU AND YOUR LOFTY HYPE IF IT ISNT ABOUT CARTOON SQUIDS THEN YOU CANNOT RIDE THE HYPE TRAIN
W-why are you talking about squids, Anon? I-I'm just saying to be cautious with your expectations, you don't have to yell at me
Could be, however GTA V didnt advertise so outright with the concept of "infinity" which stands to reason that NMS is going to do something to address such a claim or feature
>talking about squids
Just addressing double-standards of "overhyping" when a game as simple as splatoon can be have hours of conversation on hypotheticals while a game like No mans sky will get shot down for having so much more to offer
But I was not talking about Splatoon, keep this for Splatoonfags. As far as I'm concerned, overhyping is bad no matter the game. If this thread was about Splatoon, I would have said the same thing, but it's not. Oh and it's not because they are doing something bad that it justifies anyone else doing it
everyone else is allowed to anonymously ruin /v/ by hyping their favorite unreleased game, I can be the white knight and abstain, but that wont stop a majority of anons who still ruin it for everyone else.
Until there exists an equalizer for this problem, Im going to hype just as much as splatoon/assasins creed/destiny/halo5/zombie game #5660/zelda
its finally my turn to ruin /v/ with pointless hype, and im not going to give my highground to some +250 post about what kind of squid-guns there could be
ironic viral marketing is still viral marketing.
>however GTA V didnt advertise so outright with the concept of "infinity"
yeah, they advertise yoga, golf, tennis, radio, and MUCH BIGGER MAP THAN EVERY GTA COMBINED!! with bullshot.
wait, I recognize this.....
>again, at least, with slpatoon, we saw gameplay, and it's not YOU CAN DO ANYTHING tier promise.
you're the same guy that got called out for not knowing what he was talking about, then you backtracked once you realized you were wrong
here's where you lost all credibility
and here it comes...
verbatim backtracking, "s-s-sure it does have ______ but m-my fingers were crossed lol XDXD I TROLL U"
yeah, I knew it was you, I could tell from the language when you were going back and forth with the other anon about how "x" feature didnt exist, then he posted the video and you went from sarcastic "OMG THEY PROMISED" to the fall-back "ok its real, b-b-but the ship got blown up with one hit so its still shit and im still right somehow"
no-one can be this summer......
I know, every other guy was the anon you were arguing with, thanks to your own screenshot, you proved that you were the guy that bitched out after you were proven wrong
maybe you can post your IP too so we can laugh at you forever?~
preserved for history, I love it when I find "anon's first day on 4chan posts"
>ow that the shitposter has ragequit ITT there's no more people to bump the thread!
There isn't much to say about this game to begin with. The devs are being vague on purpose and still no live gameplay on the horizon
