Actually I think Clerics make better necromancers than mages with the Necromancy specialty for some reason.

Your friend's wrong. Summon Necro's can solo Hell with shit gear better than anyother class. Amp damage, corpse explosion big groups. Decrepify, crushing blow revives and teleport for bosses.

The actual process of becoming a Lich is necromantic in nature, yes (although it changes depending on the setting), but there are plenty of non-necromancers who become Liches.
Being a Lich doesn't mean you're a necromancer, and vice-versa.

Pretty sure you can in galaga. There's a type of ship that abducts yours and if you shoot it the "dead" ship comes back and joins you as a double ship.
