A lot of gory games like Gears of War, the new Wolfenstein, etc aren't particularly shocking. Comical is more the word. And satisfying. I guess some of the deaths in the Dead Space games are kind of fucked up though (the eye scene in DS2, the acid spitter necromorphs, the one that rips off your head and attaches itself in it's place). The torture scene in GTA 5 was also kind of uncomfortable to play.

In the new Tomb Raider when you're getting tossed down the river and have to avoid stuff like pointy fucking logs/sticks everywhere, and if you don't dodge them... Watching Lara getting impaled from underneath her jaw into her head actually got a reaction from me.

Same goes for the part when you're jumping around on the shipwreck, and if you fall in the water, Lara flails a bit underwater for a second before the riptide forces her downwards, and she slams her head off a rock, blood trailing from her.

When I was 6 or 7, I played a game on NES or Megadrive, I'n not sure. It was a fun japanese platformer, you played as a loli magician in red, you could use magic with cards and shit.

I know its not a pretty good game but I was honestly very unsettled by the killer questline in DragonAge 2.
You hear rumors of a psychopath that does his deeds in your hometown. I did not follow that questline immediately cause I thought it was just another shitty sidequest. Later it turns out that the killer is a psycho who basically assembles his long lost love out of several different bodyparts of other girls that remind him of his ex and then plans to revive that thing via blood magic.
Then your mom is kidnapped. I assumed I would find her and rescue her last minute and save the day. Turns out that he has already killed her and sewed off her had and put it on that abomination of different body parts. You have to kill her and the guy.

After that shit I had to turn off my xbox. I have seen more brutal shit but this freaked me, particularly because I really did not expect this terrible outcome. I mean he even put her in a brides gown that sick fuck. I could not save her..

In Devil Survivor, a boss appears and kills Keisuke.
In my playthrough, I had battled Keisuke a couple of times, trying to save him from his own bullshit, but then that boss (Pazuzu I think) showed up behind him, grabbed his head, lifted him up, and instantly fried the guy with electricity. Afterwards, he just slumps lifelessly to the ground.
