Even with the best connection/net infrastructure, latency will be a hard to overcome issue. Of course, if you're a console tard, latency might not bother you much.

not necessarily, those features are generally reserved to NAS systems in conjunction which aren't that rare at all

less downtime is just an IT thing, they probably do have the personnel to handle the maintenance, PSN went down after their entire database got hacked and they stored their customer information in fucking plaintext

lower latency only really applies to the client's upload connection to their servers, every server handles it the same way, latency is caused by packet loss or drop which is usually and should be handled extracurricularly but is often not, like EA servers a shit

Thats the thing, it screws them in multiple ways AND makes them choking on their own words about the kinect being an "integral" part of the console. They hammered it in about the kinect being the future of gaming and tried to force it down our throats, and now they are going "Haha just kidding guys, turns out you don't need it at all! Sorry everyone who got screwed over buying it earlier!" Now they effectively kill any innovation they can get from kinect, screw over xbone games adding kinect elements to their game (though it seems they are good about making kinect commands optional), and now relegate kinect to "gimmick" status since no one's gonna waste their time on something that not everyone is going to have.

The thing is, they are pulling so many reversals with their console I'm REALLY iffy on considering to get one. It seems they have no idea what they want to do. Still waiting for actual games on either side.

I haven't had any issues. Load times are fast for me.

The performance keeps getting better. Lots of updates. Shit was a train wreck for the first few months.

Still needs a lot of work, and I haven't seen any games that look terrific visually.

But then I go back and look at games like F.E.A.R. for the 360 compared to something like Bioshock Infinite, Im sure games will improve a lot. Never on par with a PC obviously.

External hard drives are coming, backwards compatibility, and DX12 (please let it make a difference).

I like mine as my living room console. I would much rather have a gaming PC, but I honestly prefer playing games with people I know over Steam friends.

If I get to a point where I have a lot more disposable income I would love to join the mustard race, but th Xbone works for now.

Smart TVs are seriously underpowered and have no apps.

I own a Samsung Smart TV and while the idea is great and all the realization of it in practice is lacking to say the least. There are only handful of apps for it, low amount of memory means that it has issues even playing Youtube shit without buffering every 2 minutes and the number of apps hasn't grown in a little over a year since I had the thing.

At this point in time something like a Chromecast, Android TV or whatever is far superior choice to a Smart TV.

It has its perks, Plex is seriously awesome but in general that technology still needs to mature.
And quite frankly I don't see any steps being taken in that regards.
