>the Adreno 530 and 540 smartphone GPUs are stronger than a Nintendo Switch, Wii U, PS3, 360 etc.
How do we stop phones, /v/?
They already have 1440p resolution and will soon be as powerful as a XB1/PS4
all that power just to play Tiny Tower? what a waste.
sorry I'm projecting, I really like Tiny Tower
Post some examples.
Yeah, you need real power to fuel those gacha games.
Fuck off
Why are revolvers so rare in modern video games?
>>388861474
CoD kids don't think they're as tacticool as plastic shit
>>388861474
Because you don't look hard enough.
>>388861474
Because they are fairly rare in modern times?
>>388861814
this too tho'.
KF2 alone has THREE pairs of different revolver guns.
/v/ here is a question I have been thinking about lately: what are the bare minimum requirements you need to have in order to be considered a video game?
For example would it be possible to take out something from pic related or visual novels and still classify as a video game? Do text adventure games like Zork qualify as video games? Did the first commercial home video game console Magnavox Odyssey have "video games" or just movable bright spots on TV screen and some random crap to put on the TV screen in order to make it seem like there is a game there? Where do you guys think the bare minimum of being a video game lies?
Are you having fun?
>yes
It's a video game
>no
It's not a video game
>>388861304
Do you have control at any point?
Does it have a win and fail state?
If the answer is yes to both, it's a video game.
>>388861470
several games don't have a win or fail state though
i think being able to interact is the most important, in a visual novel all you do is flipping through text so that's like the minimum amount of interaction possible, but you are still interacting with it
Who here has Yakuza 0 as their first? I'm excited as fuck for Kiwami, I love 0 so much, I'd maybe consider it in my top 10 games.
>Yakuza discussion thread
Brainlet here, how the fug do I get good at shogi?
AND Yakuza 2 kiwami is coming out in Japan in december, so you can guess there's probably a late 2018 release for the west.

Ignore it and go back to taking care of your hostess club.
What is the best game with a Job changing or class changing system?
I'm looking for something new to play. I feel like I've already hit the notables.
Bravely Default. But you have most likely tried that already.
FFT, FFTA, FFTA2 are all pretty good.
Oh man now I want to play FF:T again.
Original or Advanced? Never played the original, played the fuck out of advanced when I was younger like 10 years+ ago.
It's another
>best girl gets shafted and gets no screentime
episode.
>>388412621
I was half-assing social links in pursuit of raising my personal stats (jobs are far better than my methods) and ended up having her be the only option for Hawaii, Valentine's Day, and Christmas. Felt kind of bad, nobody else even felt the need to bother.
Would've been a much better party member than Forehead Mcshittyhaircut with her mom maybe having a haunted house-themed palace.
>>388412986
It's piss easy to max social links and stats. Especially with the fortune teller skill.
half life is actually fucking dead, what the fuck guys
how did this happen?
>>388412612
it's been dead for fucking ten years
did you really need someone to make it official?
>>388412757
It's like you've got a friend in a coma
Even though he's not around, and you know the chances of him waking up are slim, you still want to see it happen
and when he finally passes, all those feelings of frustration and depression for the last few years boils up. Even if it is a bit of a relief
>>388412961
no, it's like expecting your friend to wake up even though he has a golf ball sized hole in his brain

Is space sim genre, dare I say, saved?
There still isn't an X game that isn't a hot mess so probably not.
Ships didn't look particularly interesting, I need muh Hyperion dammit
Also having pilots seems unnecessary, having a computer that handled all your ships was perfectly fine
best megaman game ever
This is gonna crash and burn isn't it?
>>388860293
nice july 25 hottake faggot
IC sucks at non pixelated games
Which begs the question why was this game ugly 2.5 D instead of full on beautiful pixels
Man I'm just finding out about how many things Inti has involvement in. I assumed the Megaman Zero team had dissolved a long time ago.
>Ditched this but not M#9
Spooky.
.
dab on the haters
>mobileposter
IS LUIGI A FUCKING NAZI?!?!
post games with awful feeling weapons
Never has a game made me quit solely because of how awful the weapon feel is
Half Life 1's weapons were unsatisfying as hell to use, too.
BASED Randy's HD pack fixed this issue though.
MGS V
Before:
>Company made custom engine
>tune said engine exactly for what they want to
>create new engines when needed and re-use engines when possible
Now:
>Use Unreal or Unity
>Jury rig said engine to do what you want and hope for the best
>this is the "industry standard"
>Unreal virus is starting to infect Japanese companies too
Why is this new system better than the old one?
>>388412505
>Make a shitty engine hastily and hope that it works
>Get programmers and artists to get accustomed to it
>Might have shitty results
vs.
>Get a license for an engine that has been in development for years by a team who is dedicated to making this engine
>Very well documented
>Can find programmers and artists who already have experience with it
Fucking hell, I do wonder why premade engines are getting more popular.
Making an engine yourself is too much work. Why not just take something that someone has already done before? Why invent the wheel new?
>>388412798
>>388412719
Because Unreal is an inefficient middle of the road engine. It produces middle of the road results. Making a new engine gives you a big edge on the competition, if it works out right.
Do PC gamers have higher standards in what they play compared to consolefags?
Give me an example.
>>388859940
demon's souls
Yes.
sub-30fps at sub-900p and no graphical options is NOT ideal now, and wasn't in 2007 either.
Yeah, that's why mustards never pay for early access.
ITT: Subtle references to other video games in video games
>subtle
>>388412492
You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGAwVvkQQL0
Here's another 'subtle' one.
I just finished LISA and it's a good game but that line in Steam store irks me:
>A life ruining gaming experience.
What is supposed to be life ruining about it?
nothing, they're just being pretentious
>>388412126
Life ruining is hyperbole but you feel like shit when you finish it.
It's just exaggerated marketing that shows off its punishing and bleak side, don't be autistic
