Sorry for running off like that, but now im back and the chaos can continue.
todds attempt at seduction failed, and he and jebediah are still sworn enemies.
meanwhile, the painting goblins are still cranking out masterpieces to fund virgins evil schemes, and shes plotting to burn down the bar tonight. its gonna be crazy, so strap in, get ready to give commands, and watch the world burn.
virgin has fucked up her spell and lit a patron on fire. his family stands idly by as he burns.

finally, things are as chad desired. the bar is aflame

alas, the bars patrons all have fire extignuishers stuffed up their ass, and are able to extinguish the inferno with no effort.
As deeply flawed as this game was, I must say I really enjoyed the gameplay and in-game aesthetics.
The way you control Samus smoothly through the environments with just the d-pad, the camera angles, the soft lock-on, dodging mechanics, "behind the shoulder" exploration segments, it all felt really good. The animations were really well done, the way Samus always moved along a fixed path even though the camera angles shifted with her movement, and the combat felt much more challenging than previous Metroid games, without getting too hard to become cumbersome. Having to point the wiimote at the screen for missiles feels really awkward at first, I'll admit, but once you get used to it, it feels pretty cool to point at the screen, "lock-on" and fire a missile.
It feels a lot like a natural progression from the Super Metroid style of gameplay to 3D, without completely reinventing the wheel like the Prime series, even though I absolutely love the Prime trilogy.
Unfortunately, the narrative aspects of the game really do detract way too much from the overall experience. The shitty characterization, the cheesy as fuck narration, the tons of literally-who characters introduced into the story, it's all really awkward and poorly handled, and the worst of it all is the confinement of Samus's upgrades to story beats instead of actual gameplay, since instead of having to look for them in the environments you just get permission from Adam and bam, that's it. The exploration is pretty downplayed, since you're stuck in the areas the plot wants you to explore, with very little backtracking, with doors locking and unlocking around you as you progress through the plot.
I don't see why they have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The gameplay wasn't broken, it was everything else. If only they'd keep and refine the gameplay mechanics and make it into a game with MUCH less story, and more freedom of exploration, I'm sure it would turn out great.
nice blog, have a link to more?

God forbid we try to have an actual civil discussion about video games.

This definitely isn't a coincidence, not even just because they share the same VA.

I may be over ten years late for this, but I finally played the Legacy of Kain series : Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance, in that order. Not Blood Omen 2 yet, but as far as I understand it's not relevant to the plot.
Now, as you know, the story is one gigantic mindfuck. Re-reading the script of the games helps a lot, but there are still some questions I need answered.
1) After Raziel removes Kain's heart in Defiance, what brings him back to life ? Is this sheer plot armor ?
2) The Staff of Moebius drains vampiric power, from both 'natural' and 'converted' vampires. But why does it also drain the power of the Soul Reaver in its wraith form ?
3) When Mortanius created the cult of Hash'ak'gik under the cathedral, was he doing so under the influence of the hylden lord ? The cult directly benefits the Hylden, and Mortanius works against them, but it's usually visible when he's being possessed.
4) The creature in the cult of Hash'ak'gik is actually Turel, in the monstrous form he presumably takes during the SR1 era (centuries after Raziel is cast into the pit). Yet, Turel/Hash'ak'gik is encountered in the cathedral during the BO1 era, at a time when Turel wasn't even raised as a vampire yet. How ?
5) At the end of Defiance, Kain sneaks up on Moebius and kills him. But at that point, Moebius should already have been killed by the younger version of Kain, after the execution of Vorador. We know this since the pillars are already collapsing at that point, meaning that young Kain has killed all nine pillar guardians, including Moebius.

we could've gotten the answers, but we got Nosgoth instead.
RIP Legacy of Kain series.

You should have started the thread with a good bait, now it's almost dead

Something like
>"""villains""" who did nothing wrong
But it's still possible to have some good discussion on /v/; the problem with games like these is just that it's very tricky to get enough interested anons in the same thread at the same time.
do you guys not talk about this? I just bought it like 2 days ago and have been watching streams--what should I be focusing on as a beginner? dribbling?

What is your honest opinion of the xbox consoles?
>>388565102
360 > OG > One
The only good one is 360. One and Scorpio are made for netflix.
Xbox was fun and a decent number of exclusives. 360 itself was a shit console but had some of my favorite games and best memories. I've been trying to convince myself to get an xbone for the MCC but I can't bring myself to do it. Would rather buy a Switch than an xbone.
This is a video game console. Look at her.

>nu-/v/ defending cod
Surprising really
My main issue with CoD is that they still keep shitting out games instead of making the best possible CoD and institutionalising that one title as a stayer. Not because I think they're greedy but the current model is self destructive. Oh you liked AW? Well fuck you we WW2 now! Just make one "final" CoD (AW or MW style) and keep it alive for 5 years plus and I think it will be popular. Of course you can sell maps and hats.

Great argument you're a credit to the board.
>give a whiny crybaby attention about an old ass script
>bring the games existence to the spotlight
>gearbox is most likely gonna be given the green light to make Half Life 2: Epusode 3 because Valve clearly doesn't care
>it WILL make at least a million sales on the name alone, rake in 9's and 10's on reviews, and make gearbox a video game superpower
I love 2017.
Wasn't Gearbox responsible for the first HL? Or at least the expansions?
>>388564306
They made Opposing Force, and I think Blue Shift as well
>>388564306
Opposing Force and the ps2 port of the game. That's it.
What are some books that would make great video games?
>>388986389
They tried to make a game on the mistborn franchise, but it was soon canceled.I can't wait for Oathbringer in november

Please stop trying to ruin books with video games. Video games are like porn in that there's expected to be a story but it's really not important.
