It's a terrible game, the gameplay is boring as hell and suffers from Swayer "balance"
The characters are yawn inducing and the story heavily suggest you to pick a cipher if you want to get even half of the content from it
I dropped it at the druids town and never came back to it, I can't believe people associate BG1-2 with this

It's alright but they seem to take the quantity > quality approach to lore and storytelling. PoE assumes if you have an encyclopedia britannica full of lore it somehow makes up for the fact that it's pretty unengaging. Don't get me wrong there are some neat concepts there but overall its just so fucking dry.

The companions are the worst because they have poor arcs or relations to the protagonist and instead just have walls of contextual lore for personality.

I've heard Tyranny addresses this problem but I dunno. This is coming from someone who is a total New Vegas drone by the way, so I haven't got a thing against Obsidian.

But if you use online pawns instead of the off-line ones the game becomes way too easy anyway. Many of the people that play this game seem to be so obsessive that online pawns will usually be even stronger than your main character.

I actually enjoyed how everyone was rather shitty/medicore and loved desert chapter and the chapter where mages snipe you with divine magic.

Conquest writting/pandering really ruins the game for me but the gameplay is good. Pairup still needs a few more tuning as late game, defense felt way more viable since enemies start dealing a fuck ton of damage and you don't have that much health. The issue is your health does not scale up very well I feel. Gameplay is still really good but could be better.

Good ideas, bad execution. Basically the same as any other FF game. It's nowhere near the worst game in the series like the internet likes to claim. But it's not good. Let alone ahead of its time.
