It's designed to be addictive. The loot in the game functions on a randomized reward system, basically you grind in game to pull a slot machine that gives you gear. It also takes a shitton of time, which ties into the "sunk cost" fallacy. The graphics are also bretty gud.

tl;dr It's your standard F2P game with deliberately addictive gambling mechanics
