Pretty damn good.
There is a ton of customization options and they tried to balance it pretty will with customization points although ours possible to grind the points out. The bosses can be pretty challenging and tend to have more attacks than traditional Mega Man ones. The stage designs are varied and each had its own gimmicks. There's also an unlockable hard mode.
The only complaint I have is not being able to switch between the 24 custom slots with L and R. I think the stages might be slightly shorter than in some Mega Man games, but that might just be because of the lack of minibosses.

Why do people give Todd shit when Randy Pitchford exists? Sure, Todd's games after Oblivion have been overrated and at best, slightly above average, but nearly everything Battleboy and GearShit have worked on post Borderlands 1 has been complete fucking garbage.
