I'll just spoil you. The butterfly is connected to Chloe directly. Chloe's spiritual power is going against the natural order of things. So Max is able to break time and space, but since Chloe is selfish and self-destructive, the power only works around her timeline, and comes with massive consequences.

It's not going to be SF2, that's for damn sure. Anyone who has already played the ROM when it released years ago knows it's a pretty unexciting game compared to the others, and if it weren't for the girls it would honestly just be forgotten.

This is just Nintendo shunting out an incomplete game to make a little extra money on "GET THIS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED GAME" on their new emulation box, which was set in a timeline that has since gotten two reboots and converted the two abandoned girls into entirely new characters.

You should probably hold off on creaming yourself about "MUH CANON" until Nintendo actually decides to put them in the next actual console game.

It's canon in the sense they are part of the Star Fox Expanded Universe now, but they are not part of the new reboot canon. It does open the doors for them to be introduced into it later.

Played this game a lot. It was glitch and finicky, but I liked that each of the teams offered a fun variety of gameplay and different routes through levels. I have no idea how anyone could beat those special zones. They were so spastic.
