Is Tekken the best fighter currently on the market?
Street Fighter is collapsing and everything else (DOA, Marvel, etc) is joke.

For 3D fighters its the only choice. It also has a healthy online. For 2D there's Guilty Gear but since the community for that game doesn't use Ranked you need discord for it unless you live in Asia where you can just stroll in Tokyo lobbies and fight against Japs all day with no problems. For some reason though, Europe has a healthy online scene for it in Steam, not sure why.

Tekken 7 is very good and enjoyable. It depends on what you want out of the game to consider which is the best.

It's good from the 1 hour I played. I returned it though because LOLNOTUTORIAL. The fact that the old guard seems to not be learning from KI and GGs fantastic tutorials is sad.

Since most vidya compagnies proved times and times again that they simply can't optimize their games to run at 60fps on consoles, what's the next step in video games innovation ? Did we reach the peak of what was possible for video games that isn't VR ? Are vidyas gonna stay at this level of "interactive movies" until the industry crashes again ? I'm scared /v/

Because it isn't a fighting game in the way you conventionally label a fighter. It's more of a competitive brawler, akin to something like Power Stone. A typical fighting game is about a 1v1 duel between two individuals on a mostly flat, linear plane, without the assistance of items or powerups. Smash differs from this formula significantly by allowing players to move freely around a map with various ledges and obstacles, and allows both the environment and the items in it to effect the gameplay. It's also 4-player, and relies much less on 1v1 combat in a traditional setting.
