Mechanically, it's the best Mechwarrior game ever made. No other Mechwarrior game has all the features MWO has. Practically, though, the game is poorly balanced and you will get absolutely curbstomped 99% of the time if you try to play it now, unless you're some sort of IRL Mechwarrior Clanner god.
My advice: try it, but drop it once it gets too frustrating.
