Why does DOOM feels like such a chore? It's pretty and all but the progression system in the game is fucked. I know it should be simple but not "do this" "now do this" "kill this" "do this again". 6/10

Try playing on hard. It's a well made hard mode, and you'll often feel like you barely made it through encounters.
That's not to say that it didn't start to feel like a chore during the late game. It stops surprising you after a while. The boss fights only mildly alleviate that.

two questions /v/,
Is there a pre-existing pure sci-fi game which has had the fanbase/genre fixing equivalent of Dark Souls? Not a series that has elements of Dark Souls, but rather one where people want to know about the Lore, or talk about how things are X-like? I suppose Doom, or Halo?
Would you expect a souls-like Sci-fi game to be about a person running around on a planet/spacestation exploring and fighting, or would you allow spaceship flying/fighting?

Hi /r9k/, this is a review of Sonic Adventure.
Sonic Adventure is seen as an amazingly advanced and historical game, that I can not deny. It is however, not the greatest game of all time, not even the best on the Dreamcast. Let's talk about this. First off, lemme just make a nod to Jumping Flash, a 3D platformer that predates Sonic Adventure and honestly does platforming far better. You see, that's Sonic Adventure's weak spot. The game is very diverse in it's worlds, the controls are tight, the camera is great, and the game was very innovative. But the platforming...oh the platforming. Platforming in a 3D environment is hard, I understand that. So what was Sonic Adventure's solution to this problem? Remove the platforming! Most levels in the game are just flat land that has very few bits of platforming, typically within specific areas that are designed to reward the player even if they fail to properly platform. The most platforming in this game comes from a level, but even then the player can just freeze the platforming in place. In fact, the level isn't even necessary to complete the game. I do enjoy the game overall, and it's a very fun game that I will often come back to, but in terms of platforming... I just feel that there are far better alternatives, even on the Dreamcast. Banjo-Kazooie comes to mind. If you're looking for a fun and simple game, here it is. But if you're looking for a genuine platforming challenge, I'd recommend picking up something like Crash Bandicoot.

Its directly competing against Overwatch right now. Do you think it does enough things better than Blizzard to succeed?
