It went full "free" to play yesterday, it has tons of P2W bullshit but as long as i can play the story (which seems pretty interesting) without problems i don't care at the moment.

It's too cash-shop oriented imo but they made the combat better, it's still quite bad but not atrocious anymore and the enemies die quicker.
Same got-tier atmosphere and quests/characters/writing.
I played TSW and now I'm level 30 on the third map on SWL and I don't see any real problem that could prevent you from enjoying the story.
The most infuriating thing for me is the inventory. It's small, adding slots is expensive and the daily rewards fill it fast.

Well, new players have only ONE character slot, so if you want to enjoy the other factions or classes, you are pretty much fucked, and the prices they ask for everything are beyond insane, but whatever, i'm going to uninstall when i finish all quests, i'm not interested in the end game grind.

DS is the hardest, PSP has the most content. You're in for one of the best FFs ever made, I'd say play the PSP version to get your feet wet and experience all the game has to offer than play the DS for an actual challenge.

What's the deal with The After Years? Is it worth playing if I already beat the original game?

So what was the point of this area? From a gameplay perspective, why does it exist?
I can't jump, I am just holding forwards. If this was an Assassin's Creed game, I'd have to hold down a shoulder button while pressing forwards in order to jump. In an Uncharted game, my jumps would be on rails still just like this, but I'd still have to press a jump button.
So why have this? From a gameplay perspective it's literally no different from running on grass. You hold forward and Link auto jumps. Why have it at all, why not have a ramp. Is it purely for looks and graphics? Why not just add a fucking jump button if they are gonna go to the trouble of making a jumping animation and putting in what is clearly a platforming section.
How does Zelda get away with this AssCreed tier shit?

If you hadn't played ocarina, this was an effective way to teach the player about autojumping and movement in general, the first knowledge required to enjoy the game.
