Didn't delve into any of the side activities/quests but I heard some of them were pretty tedious. Are there any other glaring issues you have with it?
And I've heard bad things about X-2. I'll play it some time out of morbid curiosity (bought the PS4 remaster so I may as well) but I don't really see how the story could continue in a way that isn't forced.

Start with Zero Mission, then play Super Metroid, then play AM2R, then move onto the Prime games.

Metroid is fun, but Zero Mission is better.

Metroid II isn't horrible, but it's one of the weakest links.

All Prime games are at least solid.

Don't bother with Other M.
