Yep, for all its flaws. It's simply the most consistent and complete game i've played this gen.

To craft a world as detailed and open as Witcher 3s yet still maintain the insanely high quality of writing found in Witcher 1/2 whilst improving on the combat (though it's only "adequate" at best) on top of making some of the best DLC i've ever purchased, is just undeniably impressive.

Don't know about Game of the Decade for me personally though, I prefer New Vegas and i'm pretty torn even on Bloodborne but there's no denying the sheer scope of the Witcher 3 and it's undeniably more complete than either game (New Vegas which was a buggy unpolished mess on a disgusting engine really holds it back in terms of objective quality).

One more question I have: Why did Resident Evil become so popular lately on /v/? I don't believe that RE7 made it super popular all on its own, because now we have daily RE threads where the only references to RE7 are people debating how much it deserves to be called Resident Evil.

Answering my own questions:
1. Most recent completion is Revelations 2. I enjoyed it quite a bit, more than the first game, but I hated the ending. It also needed the co-op partners to hold guns, as is it just felt like an addition that didn't have to be in the game.
2. I'm starting REmake, but I really want to play RE2 when it drops in HD.

A lot of factors. Just to name a few: There wasn't really a standardized MMO profit formula yet so it was made as an earnest attempt at a full multiplayer FF instead of checking off MMO boxes.

It had a huge emphasis on relying on other players the same way the party in a single player FF game would rely on each other.

It was made back when players were more accepting of slower paced combat which gave you time to communicate to your party between actions.

For one thing, I wouldn't spend literally living 5 years of my life as a NEET, disregarding all aspects of my life except this game, and still just be basically an average player, again. Not even if the game was just as good. And that's a problem, because to succeed, an MMO needs players like that. Ideally that should be its targeted audience. Because otherwise, you get people who want to play for short sessions and get stuff done and still have a real life. And a game where those players can succeed looks something like WoW does right now.

I really enjoyed it as well. I went into it blind but ended up really liking the storytelling method, art style, mechanics, music; it was great. I'd pirated it initially and was going to buy it, but it ended up in a humble bundle I got which was a nice surprise as well.
