I can't think of any times I missed out on a good deal but I did get a copy of LotR: Return of the King for $0.25 because some kid really wanted to get a pack of gum at school and needed something to sell.

Also got a Famicom GBA Micro for $5, but it's scratched to hell and back again. Gotta see if there's some way to restore it.

Damage scaling in 3D Zelda in general was fucked until like Skyward Sword, and even then only because of Hero Mode, which was then retroactively added to the HD remasters of WW and TP to surprisingly pleasant effect. Honestly, the classic implementation of the heart mechanic, including heart drops, was just broken in these games. If they aren't gonna fix the damage scaling (and it seems like they've gotten better with that too since TP HD) then rebalancing that mechanic was the way to go. Also nerfing fairies but that was mostly an issue for the N64 games.

It was quite literally designed so that young children could finish the game. It wasn't aiming for the dark souls audience.

This is an anonymous image board, so it doesn't matter if I keep ranting.

One of the things that makes me even more frustrated is fucking mashing. Mashing will literally get you fucking NOTHING in any fighting game. Despite this, everyone I try to teach fucking mashes. Every single fucking button on the controller does some kind of attack, and when you hit that button, that attack comes out. So why would mashing every single attack give you something that would help you?

Like, why can they not just walk up the opponent, hit medium kick, see it was blocked and be fucking happy with it? They'll hit medium kick, see it was blocked and keep fucking mashing other buttons hoping they hit instead of fucking backing off or trying a different strategy based on the information they just gained?

Like, Jesus fucking christ, if they blocked your attack, what is going to make them stop fucking blocking and allow themselves to be hit by whatever random attack comes out from you mashing?

LEARN WHAT EACH MOVE DOES. AND PLAY WITH INTENTIONALITY. Literally no other genre has this fucking problem. People don't pick up fucking Civilization 5 and start fucking mashing every single god damn fucking button. People don't pick up a first person shooter and fucking mash every single fucking button. What is it about two health bars, a 2D playfield and two characters on screen that sends a signal to the brain that goes, "BETTER START MASHING LOL"
