Does anyone actually care about backwards compatability? I don't think I ever played a Wii game on my Wii U, a Gamecube game on my Wii, or a DS game on my 3DS

I'm a 28 year old grown ass man. My dad just got me a PS4 for my birthday a couple weeks ago, which is super nice of him of course, but I've only ever played vidyas on a PC. And I guess it's just kinda weird that my dad would buy me something like that as a married adult with two infant children, but whatever.
Anyways, I've mostly been using the PS4 for netflix and stuff, but I'm considering getting a couple of games to play during my free time. What are the best games available for PS4, preferably within the RPG/action/horror/sci-fi genres?
