I'm replaying Adventure 2 right now and wow. I've never realized how dog shit this game was, From the awful storytelling to the 10 minute long stages, this game is a trainwreck

Pretty much. As someone that grew up with the classic games, this shit depressed me pretty hard at 15 or whenever I played it.
I could let the story go if it was actually fun to play, but fuck. Literal rail sections and essentially rail sections and all the other bullshit they tried to pile on to distract you from the fact that they can't figure out how to make a 3D game.

I work at a packaging company that normally makes specially made boxes for hardware and software companies. We deal with a lot of clients from a wide range of industries, but yesterday a co-worker of mine showed me something on our computers that is the most surprising thing I've ever seen, mostly because all video game stuff I see is for games that are already announced. The co-worker who showed me this told me that it's for a collection of valve games coming out on consoles this holiday.
Believe me or not, I don't fucking care but I'm just so hyped over seeing this that I have to unload this news on somebody and /v/ seems like the only place I can.
Anything further I would say to you would just be conjecture, the only thing I've seen are a couple pictures and logos.
But this is all I have for today.

Yeah. The entire point of the trailer is to sell you on atmosphere and scale. It perfectly conveys the subtle richness that the game holds.

Why do modern developers struggle so hard to grasp the concept of "old school" FPS? Right this moment there is still a dedicated fan community of 90's first-person shooters, who are still producing amazing mods. Why can't actual developers keep up? They don't understand tone/humor. They don't understand the absolutely intrinsic elements and importance of weapon/enemy design. They sure as hell don't don't understand level design to any degree. All these wannabe games that have emerged recently are superficial and shallow bullshit.
By the way, this ultimate god created some new levels for original Doom in his spare time last year (for the first time in 20+ years) and it's objectively better designed than all of Nu-Doom in its entirety, unironically. Suck it down.
